I've been playing Eve for a while now, and have recently put together a dual monitor setup. I understand that a switch exists which allows you to run two separate clients which are completely independent of each other (in terms of settings etc). However, I've so far failed to find out what that switch is. Can anyone here help?

Not aware of any switch as such.

Most people just execute the same client twice - and the client does have provision for more than one monitor.

For those who want other settings to be the same - they typically have two installations - or at least that was the way it was done. If something's changed I'm unaware of it.

I run multiple accounts and have done it both ways - but pretty much just execute the same client twice now.

The EVElopedia entry on running multiple clients might be of use to you.

Make a copy of the eve directory.
It will then save a separate settings folder.

Most of the time I just use one copy of Eve and launch it multiple times. This avoids the need to keeping track of which instance of Eve has the settings for which characters.

However, if you want to have seperate settings for difference accounts/characters, you can avoid filling up your hard drive and patching multiple times by using Junction to create another path to the Eve folder. It works the same as copying the folder but it does not use additional disk space and changes made to those files (ie patches) are made to all instances.

I am running two clients with
...EVE\eve.exe /end /LUA:OFF

This will create a settings folder in your EVE installation. Just place your actual settings folder there. Every account or alt will have individual setting files. Nothing will be mixed or messed up. You don't need for each client an EVE installation. It's pretty simple with "/end /LUA:OFF".

For a dual monitor setup just use the fixed Window option and I start EVE twice addressing the left and right monitor by the display setup. I guess you can start EVE by a batch using different prefs.ini files. I did not check that out yet.
