I have no idea what's best for me to use that I wont lose instantly. I fly Minmatar and I can fly Frigate to BS, assault ships, heavy assault ships and command ships.
if doing lower class WHs in a smaller class ship is best, please specify. I am new to wormholes, but they look like a lot of fun

*note. I can use tech II small and medium projectiles

Use EVE-survival on your second screen at all times.

Scanner open.

The sleipnir is hands-down the best (truly) solo C3 runner, without going into battleships.

Here's my fit:

Sleipnir
Sisters core probe launcher
salvager II
6* 425 AC IIs

Gist B XL SB
Invuln II
2* Cap reacharger IIs
Gistum B MWD

3* RF Gyroes
2* Cap flux coil IIs

2* CCC IIs

Warrior Is

So long as you fly smart, and turn off the MWD when there are BSs around, you can't go wrong. If you're scared, buy up the ****, and wait for a sisi mirror, then log on to it, and go test in no monetary danger.

There are battleships (Tempest) that do the job better, (don't have to drop a gun), but my constraint is having a probe launcher, having a salvager, and being cap independant.

If you have a scanner/hauler alt, (prowlers are ****ing boss as hell), then bring in something meatier, like a maelstrom, or whatever, seeing as you don't need to be truly solo.

If you need any more advice, or even some fitting help, feel free to contact me ingame.

Thanks for the help, it will be a little while before i start doing them but this fit looks to be pretty much what I'll use, i only got the CS skill 4 days ago so I'm still training that up a bit.

On another note; if i had the skills, would a Loki be better off at doing these or am I better off in a Sleipnir? (long term goals)

Are you solo, or do you have an alt?

C3s were the reason I cross-trained away from minmatar-only to ships, staid and boring, with a caldari influence.

Solo T1 minmatar battleships, and below, do not hold up at all well to C3 sites. A decent maelstrom can kill them pretty easily, but does not tank the incoming damage well enough. Perhaps an artie mael/pest could draw them out and snipe them, but that'd be very slow.

I've not flown sleipnir / claymore in w-space (shifted to caldari ships first and they performed very nicely) but have watched other race equivalents (nighthawk, absolution) solo-run C3 sites ... slowly but seemingly quite safely. I have flown a loki in C3s, and they're not great for that either.

My suggestion? If you want to play semi-seriously in w-space, then bite the bullet and start training towards decent heavy missile and shield skills and go for the drake (C2 fine and very-slow-but-semi-safe for most C3s) and then the tengu (C3 fine solo, ok for some C4s and borderline-ok-but-very-slow for tough C4s). If you're wanting to limit yourself to minmatar ships then stick with C1 and C2 w-systems until you've got very good skills and then give C3 a try solo.

Hence my question. If you have an alt, train loki/tengu. If you don't need to scan and salvage in the ship you're in, nothing can really beat them on efficiency. If you don't have an alt, and need to scan and salvage without changing ship, the sleipnir is the most efficient non-battleship soloing ship there is.

No, I don't have an alt, from the sounds of it I'm most likely going to have to stick with C2's which is fine, I am only at 10 mill skill points so It was mostly high hopes that I could solo C3's, I do have a friend who is also interested now and from what I have heard, sleepers distribute agro evenly(ish) and then we can split the scanning/salvaging. thanks for the help guys.

Soloing C3's is bad, mmmkay. It's bad because they require you to superfit whatever ship you're flying. Oh sure, you start doing it with just T2 modules. But somewhere along the way you start thinking x more dps will save me y minutes per site. Or x more cap, x more tank, x more whatever and I won't have to warp out so much. Then you start looking at faction mods, then complex. And soon you're flying a +1 billion piggy bank for the guy in his cloaky T3 that's creeping up on you waiting for you to kill that last sleeper so he can uncloak, tackle you and call in a friend or two...just like that complex fit NH me and a bud killed a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice pay day. +800mil in mods dropped. The total loss to that guy was 1.9bil.

Honestly, I never solo C3's. It's not because I can't do it. I've got the skills and isk to make whatever work. The reality is soloing a C3 site takes time. As busy as w-space is, someone is going to notice you. Whether or not you get wtfpwned is merely a matter of whether they can be arsed to find you. You'll end up abandoning more sites than you complete save for the rare occasions when your w-space system is locked down tight and noone opened an incoming hole.

One thing's certain, when I see someone soloing a c3, I can rest assured that more times than not that ship is fit expensive.

Always used a slep with a passive shield fit. 2 extenders and 2 invuls. 2 spr's in the lows. with a med nos.
as said above fly smart with your cap. burn mwd when you need to.
your dps IS your tank.

OP: With your skills, you'd make a lot more isk per hour soloing in a C2 than in a C3.
