I have already scoured battle clinic for good load outs. All the cap stable variations cost around two billion or at least over 500 million "I imagine even with t2 i will be looking at around 500 mill to fit it, I suppose that is a poor example". Now I know this is a command ship and I shouldn't expect perfect performance from using T2 over faction/complex. But I was wondering how practical it is to use this ship. And if anyone has some T2 load outs I could use in the mean time, while I make enough money to afford faction/complex?

This is by no means a heroic fit, but it will get you through most L4's easily, and you can upgrade it as you get more isk

[Sleipnir, Missions Cheap]
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II

Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Caldari Navy Medium Shield Booster
Invulnerability Field II
Invulnerability Field II
Cap Recharger II

425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
425mm AutoCannon II, EMP M
True Sansha Medium Nosferatu

Medium Projectile Collision Accelerator II
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Hammerhead II x3
Hobgoblin II x2

Goes for something around 470 million if I'm not mistaken, so within what you were expecting. I actually prefer 8 light drones to be sure I have replacements for anti-frig work, even though the ship tracks like a champ. The ship should be completely cap stable if you use the NOS. Even without it turned on, the cap should be between 12 and 16 minutes depending on skills, which is very viable.

I don't like the fitting. Here the reasons:

I doubt that NOS works on NPC.
The damage rig is a waste, because it stacks with the three Gyros.
The faction afterburner is a waste of money (we are talking missions and not racing).

My counter proposal:
It's cap-stable, tanks slightly over 300dps omni. The shield booster costs around 90 million, the rest is cheap. The hm2 launcher is to get attention from the NPCs and because I didn't know what else to put there.

[Sleipnir, sleip]

7x 425mm AutoCannon II (Hail M)
Heavy Missile Launcher II (Scourge Fury Heavy Missile)

2x Invulnerability Field II
Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners
Pithi C-Type Small Shield Booster
Shield Boost Amplifier II

2x Gyrostabilizer II
2x Tracking Enhancer II
Damage Control II

2x Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Or you go even cheaper:
- exchange the shield booster for a regular medium tech 2 one.
- remove the shield boost amplifier and put a cap recharger in
- exchange a field extender for a ccc
-> almost same tank, cap stable, 90 million cheaper

Protip: You don't actually have to hit NPC's to get them to aggro you. Just shooting at them with anything will suffice.

The sleipnir screams for a pithum a-type med shield booster + crystal set. So what if you get ganked and lose a few bil. At least you flew like a pro.

You want to fly this:

Not only will you tank all L4 missions, you will also tank everyone's L4 mission. You should not settle for anything less.

But not everyone is a pimp so if you're a poor, out of a jub sucka, here's a T2 fit sleipnir that'll do L4s fine:

NOS works on rats. Or your own drones.

use either a Machariel or a Maelstrom for a low budget or fast use in term of training , its much more efficient than a sleipnir for lvl 4 .

And if you think you gonna do missions for a while , train for a vargur, its an awsome ship, especially againts angels ( but not that great against sansha )

1) Nos very much works on NPCs, much better really, because they are not cap dependent, and therefore always have more cap than you.
2) The gyros are stacking penalized against the rig, not the other way around. a tech 2 RoF rig will get you the most dps short of another gyro.
3) The sleipnir has a falloff bonus, but that does not battleship range make. The faction afterburner is going to get you in range fast, speed tanking along the way, which means things die faster.

I prefer artillery on my Sleip. The numbers might not look as impressive, but you get proper damage selection without having to sacrifice range (or vice versa) the way you do if you go for ACs+Barrage, nor are you as subjected to fall-off damage dropoff.

Wow. You've clearly never tried this, have you?

NOS works. T2 damage rigs increase applied damage significantly. An AB is absolutely required in any AC fit. Cap stability is an absolutely absurd goal on a ship that can so easily control speed/range/transversal while burst tanking stupid amounts.

Here's one that I've, you know, actually used. Extensively.

[Sleipnir, ACs pve]
Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer
Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer

Swap tank/ammo according to missions. Always carry Barrage. And ffs turn off auto-repeat on the booster.

So it looks like it is pretty practical. Though it could be easier to go for a maelstrom. I was planning to start with frigates and fly a wolf, hurricane, than a sleipnir. By the time I got into it I would easily have the standing and some LP and isk built up. Its about a four month plan in total with t2 guns and space ship skills. And AWU 4 and gunnery supports to 4 as well.

Four months is a long time though so who knows what will happen. Thank you for the information everyone. I will and have taken it into consideration.

t2 damage/rof rigs have better modifiers than any low slot damage mods (up to faction, idk about officer) so they take precedence when determining unpenalized modifiers, resulting in better dps with any number of damage mods.

basically it works like this.

game takes all parameters affecting the same attribute from any number of fitted mods. gyros generate 2 modifiers for different attributes so each is separately taken.

then it sorts them in descending order.

then it applies penalties like this. the topmost is unpenalized, the second one is about 0.8, the third is like 0.6 and so on, it's basically constants, and I don't remember them exactly, you can look them up yourself. then it multiplies all the resulting values (f.ex. if the modifier is +20% damage then it multiplies by 1+0.2=1.2) to get a final modifier. therefore the better the modifier, the less it is penalized.

therefore if the modifier a rig adds is more than module's, then it takes place at the top, and is not penalized at all thus increasing the damage even if there are 4 other modifiers from the gyros or such mod.
