The pvp hulk and the battle badger come to mind, though still unable to use either yet I decided to go out in a burst and see if I could get aggro'd.
To make a long story short, I found either a retriever using a yellow Iteron IV alt or a pirate and a carebear with similar names. I flipped the miner's can and let the pirate approach then targeted him with a passive scanner cuz I wasn't sure how long a noncombat frig would take for a lock.
The Iteron turned red and I scrammed and shot it. Tried for a ransom but he blocked me, which was kind of a shame because I wanted to the reaction of negative sec'er getting pwned by highsec scrub in a mining ship.
Anyway, the importart is that near the end of the fight, the retreiver aggro'd me. I couldn't tank his drones so I popped the Iteron, grabbed the t2 mods he had on it and bailed.
So, anyone ever done this? And as a strategy how viable do you think it is.
And again, I was in a mining frig that couldn't even tank drones so nobody can accuse me of picking on anyone who couldn't fight back (even the Iteron had a gun on it).
Here was my fit for the burst:
200mm autocannon I x2 Passive targeter Warp scrambler Gyrostabilizer I Phased plasma ammo
Maybe it's my low SP or just my choices, but I couldn't even fit a 1mn afterburner on this thing. I'm thinking about jury-rigging some shield stuff to try fighting drones next time. |

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 27/08/2011 15:33:39Realistically I do not think that the Burst is capable of doing what you want it to do. However, if you want to try it again you might want to try something like the following. You don't need a burner to keep up with an industrial or mining barge. Switch to sabot or DU rounds and shoot their drones as soon as they aggro, while keeping the ship scrammed. When the drones are dead, switch to short range ammo and hit the main target. [Burst - Buffer] 2x 200mm autocannons Medium azeotropic shield extender ship scanner OR passive targeter warp scrambler auxiliary power core 2x anti-thermal screens (for hobgoblins) core defense field extender Use named autocannons. The extra 5 DPS you're going to get is actually a big improvement over unnamed, in the context of, you know a Burst that's been fit for PvP |

The Celestis, Bellicose, and Arbitrator are all effective bait ships for taking down AFs and inties. Just sit aligned in a belt and wait. |

Mids: LSE II WEB II Scram II Inv Fld II
Highs: 3x Heavy Ion Blaster II w/Void 1x Medium Neut II
Rigs: Anti-EM Anti-Therm ACR

Ahhh the classic baitsprey. I shove a mining laser on plus 2 x Assault II with a neut in highs but my fit is more or less the same as yours. Makes it look a bit more plausible with a can hanging out and a mining laser going. The only time I've come unstuck with this was when someone pulled the orca trick on me. Osprey v Deimos didn't go very well for me. |

If you want to trap ships you should try the interdictor or heavy interdictor. |

Edited by: Andrea Griffin on 29/08/2011 14:50:29 I have been wanting to try this for a while. I'm a stupid lowsec miner, really!
[Osprey, Frigate Killer] Damage Control II 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
10MN Afterburner II Stasis Webifier II Stasis Webifier II Warp Scrambler II
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Phalanx Rocket
Medium Projectile Burst Aerator I Medium Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Drones to taste.
Could stick blasters on there or something as desired. Tracking won't be an issue with the 2 webs. |
