Cosmic signatures were vaguely visible until recently, what was probably a graphical glitch showing a small vertical white bar on the screen. The glitch has now been 'fixed', I suppose, so that the cosmic signature cannot be seen. This is a problem.
The cosmic signature can decloak a ship. Whilst perhaps not too important in combat or mining sites, around a wormhole this can be deadly. Moving away from a wormhole and cloaking is an important part of survival in w-space, as well as an important part of hunting. To fly over the cosmic signature can be the difference between success and failure, life or death. It prevents your cloak from activating, and activates the recloak activation timer if you already managed to cloak before passing nearby, making you visible on d-scan for many more seconds than desirable, or making you a target for the waiting hostile fleet and its HIC.
As the signature cannot be seen it cannot be determined whether or not your path away from the wormhole will decloak you, making survival not a matter of skill but one of luck, which is quite discouraging.
I don't know the technical reasons why the cosmic signature is not coincident with the centre of the wormhole, but if they could be in the same place then the signature's interference with a ship's cloak becomes unimportant. You cannot cloak near a wormhole anyway. Making the cosmic signature again visible in some way would also help pilots navigate away from wormholes more safely. A third solution would be to make cosmic signatures immaterial, such that they do not interfere with a ship's cloak at all.
Whatever the solution, invisible cosmic signatures are a problem.
