Greetings o7

So last night I find me a narco warehouse (if you couldn't tell from the title Wink) that SEEMS to be fresh, as in all the first room rats + structure with key still intact. So I proceed to storm it as usual. However, upon reaching the 3rd room, I find a ded space full of wrecks, and upon entering the last room, the structure with loot is of course popped.

My understanding was there was no way to enter the later rooms without the keys, or following closely behind someone who used a key. What am I missing or misinformed about?

Someone probably saved a key from doing an earlier one.

I think i tried once to bypass the rooms with keys in cargo and it didn't work.

Maybe someone took the other route and was faster than you? that's all i can come up with.

I doubt it, spend all of 2-3 min in each room, got a drone proti, though I suppose that may be possible. Not entirely sure about saving the keys either, hadn't thought of that, although 'wasting' a narco warehouse by grabbing the keys and not using them to then find another warehouse to blitz doesn't make much sense.

Is this one of the complexes where you no longer have to use the keys, but instead blow up the structure to access the gate, yet the keys are still there? There are quite a few plexes like this.

I don't believe so. As far as I know, you need the traffic management key to access the 2nd room, and the keys expire shortly after use (doesn't disappear or anything, just stops working), although admittedly I have not tried it without grabbing the key.

Hmmm. I haven't actually put this to the test, so I might be dead wrong. I have a warehouse full of traffic management keys, but I never actually checked to see if I could use them to shortcut another site. I always end up grabbing the one on site anyway.

Do structures eventually respawn if the site is not completed? Also, perhaps the despawn trigger for the site is not the loot structure but the overseer(s). Here's an outlandish scenario I just dreamed up: Mr. Fancy Pants arrives in his shiny Tengu, blasts the security office, grabs the key and joyously skips along to the final room. He kills everything, blows up the station, grabs the loot an is on his merry way. Site does not despawn becuase the first two overseers were not killed.

Roughly two hours later, you come along. Lo and behold, the security office has reappeared (?? maybe?). You toil your way through to the end, just in time to see Mr. Fancy Pants' wrecks before they despawn. The station is gone and you has a sad.

Does this sound even remotely plausible?

Yeah, I need to test the old keys also. Perhaps there's a bug now that lets them be used repeatedly. Also I have no clue if structures respawn (though I'm leaning towards they don't) or whether the despawn trigger is the structure or overseer.

The tengu blitz does sound plausible. It'd be nice to know all the exact mechanics of the site. I've ran plenty already and this is the first time I've had this happen.

Edit: 2nd thoughts

Yes they were 'used' keys - as you say, what sense would there be to not do one. ;)

When the site was static, they use to respawn after 1 - 2 hours. Though with the new mechanics the site is meant to despawn once the station is destroyed at the end, give or take 2 - 5 minutes ( some allowance to warp out and back to first gate to run the other side if you wish to do so).

The room right before the final requires ALL rats dead. I've been on that gate a number of times trying to beat someone out to the final room and leaving the final rat for them to pop while spamming warp on the acceration gate.

Perhaps the rats still respawn and someone simply sat in the last room on grid for a few hours, cloaked up.

I wounder if, just before downtime, warp to the last room then when servers come back up come and wack the objective... again..

Might be an idea to mess around with.

I did a Narcotic Warehouse around this time and date.(what system was it in?)

Lots of yellow wrecks but no one around, Couple of ships popped in last room, But amazed the structure was still there for me..

BTW if it was it dropped a Daredevil BPC Just to add insult to injury.. Very Happy

That's nothing. I warped into a Phi-Outpost the other night where everything was dead except for the overseer. The wrecks had even despawned. Not a soul in local. O_o Got a medium deadspace repper out of the deal.
