No matter how you swing it, the introduction of an ITEM into the game that is purchased through a cash transaction that grants a player a benefit, that does not originate from in the game is different than buying an ITEM out of the game with cash that grants no advantage that wasn't created in game (like a PLEX or Fancy clothes for your avatar). Another words buying a PLEX or clothes doesn't grant you an advantage over other players, while a slave implant does.

The reason is simple, if it originates in game it is subject to the in game economics and mechanics. Slave implants aren't easy to aquire, the price varies, their availability varies. People trade in slaves etc.. By originating outside of the game that person has an advantage that he didn't earn through gameplay eliminating other players from the equation. Worse yet is if a player for example decides to buy 30 slaves through the AUR and than sells them back into the game now he disrupts the natural order of the game. People who earn plexes through gameplay, buy them through game play, trade them etc...

The point here is that it would negatively effect the economy and mechanics, slaves for example might become worthless items in game just by one player deciding **** it I'll spend 1000 dollars and buy 50 of the ****ers and give them to all my corp mates.

With Eve you have to think about both the long term and large scale effects. What happens to the Eve economy if suddenly high end items are introduced into the game by the thousands without the player economy being involved in their aquisition and creation?

EDIT: Just wanted to add, that even if their was a way to make it work where everyone is involved, their is a general consensus that this type of transaction is simply unwanted and when you consider that the mere suggest, that maybe sometime in the distant future this might come undconsideration caused a game wide **** storm and protest should be enough to convince everyone that even if their was a way to logically justify it, it should never happen. Simply put if the community rejects it and you put it in, you are working directly against your customer base, the very definition of bad business.

Guys that's just another marketing tryout to see if storm passed by and they can introduce bonused items in their MT store.

Well idiots from marketing, you saw the storm but didn't realized it's just a light wind in sunny day. You flyboys go ahead and introduce your beloved bonused items in your NoX MT store. And file a jobless petition right away. Since your company won't have any money to employ you in matter of days not even weeks. About 50% of player base just sitting there in their spaceships waiting for you to go ahead with something like this. You gonna loose all of them in first day and rest of people you going to lose in a few days to come since nobody will have fun flying in half empty universe. And what a lovely reviews you going to get from all types of sites which will ensure no new players influx sufficient to sustain even Jita.

Go ahead idiots, kill the game. It will be epic in history of gaming industry. Epic failure and monument of stupidity.

they didn't miss anything, they knew from the reaction of the community that selling game breaking items (non vanity) was a NO NO !

you don't have a monocle yet because you still saving for it.

terrible post, terrible suggestions. you'd do you self better to go read up about the game you play than to make random ****e suggestions.

If I examine your post it seems that the only person who has a valid opinion in this game is yours.

As for the comment about not being able to afford vanity items I would buy then if I saw added value. This was the whole purpose of the post. It was not to debate the merits of MT items being good, bad or game breaking.

As for still saving up for them- when was the last time you lost an officer fitted Nyx- went out & bought a new one & still can afford to buy another if that got lost?

I don't need to justify my experience or opinions on this game aspect to you or anybody. I only state what I see & try & understand the nuances.

You would do better to educate than ridicule & that makes the game better for everybody.

Erm, maybe because at the first hint of having a micro-transaction store most of the player went ape **** and threatened to cancel their subs if CCP ever introduced NEX store items that effected gameplay and created a "pay to win" situation.

This arguement is again invalid & irrational. There is no difference between plugging in a set of slaves & plugging a set of monacles & boots. I agree that the items should be destroyed if podded but I see very little difference in buying a plex, converting to AUR & then buying the "vanity item". It is EXACTLY the same as using real money to buy a plex, convering it to ISK then buying your slave set.

I can buy a slave set through isk generated by ratting/trading/whatever but I cannot buy a pair of hello Kitty Space Googles without the purchase of a plex. In purchasing a plex somebody has had to pay money for it.
At least try to think when your posting.

Hi troll,
Incase you have been living in a box or completely new to Eve you would know that the last time people thought CCP might add MT items that give an advantage there was outrage. About 1200 players shot a statue in Jita. Do you want 1200 players shooting you?

I get what your saying here but the thing is, that if you answer that question "Yes", your no longer playing games for the right reason and become irrelevant. Its as simple as that for me. No real gamer would ever shell out real money to buy their way into a game, the whole point of playing games is to play and achieve things in the game.

Likewise here people have made it clear that they do not want items in the nex store that effect the game, if ccp wish to keep those customers then they have to comply.

Rationality, validity or even intelligence and common sense do not enter the equasion, it is all about satisfying the customers and keeping the money rolling in.

Once a cheater, always a cheater; once an addict, always an addict; once a botter, always a botter.
Once a company becomes a P2W-P.O.S., it will always be a P2W-P.O.S.

You can no more revert to virtuous business practices than you can become a virgin again or have your backdoor re-sewn after you "walked" the streets.

I'm not making these metaphors purely out of a funny vibe, they do bear real correspondences and hide occult realities.
Once a company has tasted to the mafia-like business-practices, it is corrupted to the bone and won't ever come back to be clean again.

CCP is falling into temptation these past months and the player base is alarmed.
We have seen too many MMOs' backdoors become "enlarged".

I hope you didn't assume I would answer yes to that question.
Not only would I answer No, but the real issue is way broader and higher than that simple question of player-ethics. Hence my post above this one.

It is strange how old corp colleagues turn against you.

I remember a time when I looked after everybody in corp like brothers & would do anything for anybody.

I think if you ask Romulus you would find that he built the carriers in the wormhole & nothing was purchased as well as the Moros & the Rorqual which he also built.

None of this came from real money to buy plex. It was all gained from the mining in the wormhole.

The blueprints were held by trusted directors who ran off with them when there own greed & grass greener perceptions got the better of them. Funny how Rom tracked the blueprints down & returned them to me.

I remember how I helped people like you & contrary to what you believe I still have the greatest respect from many of the old corp who I still interact with.

I walked out of Colid with me head help high with my respect intact & many of the old corp members are greatful for the experiences we had together.

So play your tissue of lies to somebody who has time for you because I don't have the time & I'm not interested.

Not that I want to walk on the already paper-thin ice here...

But I fail to understand the actual conflict.

Why do people get worked up about a system that grants them items for a game which virtually do nothing? If I were to fight a player in space who is wearing a monocle the only thing it tells me is, that he either paid for it with real money or scooped up an immense amount of ISK to pay for it. Secondarily it tells me that, if so, he might be a dedicated player who has more experience and maybe better equipment than me... or not. It doesn't explicitly let me know, that the player has more armor, aims better, has more raw DPS, etc, because if he does, it's because of the player himself, not because of the items in question.

Vanity items already have a distinct attribute: They are vanity items, costume parts, what ever you might want to name it.

In all honesty, we should be GRATEFUL, that the NeX store is the way it is (well, except for being inexistant in favor of actual game content, set aside). Things might have went for the worse.

People who played Battlefield Heroes might know what I mean. At first real money was exclusively used for vanity items and the promised business model was to never provide a exclusive benefit over the freeplayers. Everything that was buyable with real money was buyable with ingame money.

Then the business model changed, Uber-weapons were included, health and repair items were made cash only and lots of players went ape**** about it. I've stopped playing before that happened (and in all honesty, if I felt like it, i'd probably give it another shot).

This person makes sense.

@ OP: Your original argument of plex = isk = items makes sense on the surface but as thornat has explained any items gained by doing it that way are created in game by another player that has spent time to create said item. Just wanted to reiterate that.

The vanity stuff really doesn't bother me, but "P2W" stuff isn't any fun. I think it would hurt the in game economy.

I only read a few post.

I could not care less if we can or cannot play barbie.

I played free games for 2 years before coming to Eve and half the reason why i came to Eve was that it is NOT free to play. The other 50% is that it's a SF type of game.

To me, that means money should never buy you an advantage. I will say right away that i do not mind real money buying a 100k SP toon and, yes! I am fine living with my own contradictions.

You would do better to educate than ridicule & that makes the game better for everybody.

examine away all you want, it was my opinion, not one that i forced on anyone, mine and mine alone, i do not pretend to prepresent the community, i only stated how i felt, which may or may not be on a parallel with other fellow community member, but more than likely is.

you suggested ****e, i pointed it out for what it was, don't be butt hurt about it.

you want a win button for cash,, i my friend among many others,, DO NOT !
