I meant to do this sooner, but hey its still valid. Back in the AT9 qualifiers I made this thread
to voice my disappointment over the lack of coverage for the opening rounds. I wanted to follow up on that.
I did, as expected, enjoy the coverage of the tournament proper. It was well put together and entertaining, as I enjoy fanfest I also enjoy the tournaments as being major community events. Thanks to all involved in making it happen.
I do want to reiterate on my opinion of the qualifiers though. Many, many players were disappointed to log in on those days to realise that there was nothing to see or hear. Although CCP might take the view that the qualifiers are not a part of the tournament proper, the community strongly disagrees. There was considerable interest in the 5 man format and all of those belonging to alliances competing had been looking forward to seeing, or at least hearing, their teams in action.
I hope that in the AT10 planing CCP revisits this. While full studio coverage is not viable, I believe that there are work arounds. Allowing each time to send a cloaked 'camera man' to record their own matches seems reasonable (hand out large penalties to the team if their camera man interferes in any way with the match). Perhaps the ISD volunteers might be interested in handling it. Maybe volunteers could be found to provide simple EVE voice coverage.
Your community was crying out for any live coverage for the qualifiers, please take that feedback on board and make AT10 the community event it should be.
