I've found a nice moon that I'm trying to anchor a POS at. There's no tower ongrid, but there are two anchored secure containers within a couple km of the warpin. I can Launch For Corp my tower, but when I try to anchor it I'm told "You are unable to anchor the <tower type> at <planet - moon> as there is already a control tower anchored there." Since, again, there's no control tower ongrid, I assume it's the secure containers that are keeping me from anchoring my tower.

I assume this is, if not an outright exploit, then at least a bug, right? You can anchor containers without the faction standings (in hisec) to anchor a tower, nor the risk of having a 50M-300M control tower sitting out in space. More importantly, since you can anchor containers while in an NPC corp (right?), which is what this guy's doing, there's absolutely nothing you can do to free the moon, since you can't wardec them.

I read a couple old threads regarding this issue:

http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1546545
http://eve-search.com/thread/538428/page/1

both of which said that anchored secure containers aren't supposed to interfere with tower-anchoring. Well, these are. One thread mentioned getting the containers removed through a petition, and I did make one, but it's been sitting unanswered for a while now. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in the system, getting more and more jittery, jumping each time someone new enters local, scared they're a hauler with a control tower that knows something I don't and will steal my moon.

Is this legit? If so, how can I counter it? If not, how long should I expect the petition to take? (I filed it under Gameplay -> Player Owned Structures, because I'm not enough of a jerk to abuse the Stuck category.) Are there any workarounds I can use to anchor my tower while the containers are still there? (In one of the threads, someone suggested moving more than 5km from the cans and trying to anchor again. Did that, didn't work.)

Finally, can someone else Launch For Corp a control tower and anchor it, stealing the moon, while mine is sitting Unanchored ongrid, and how long can I leave my tower sitting Unanchored before it disappears? Two hours, like secure containers (I think)?

Sorry about the obvious alt, but, well, you know. I like keepin' me moons safe.

You do not have a container issue. There is a control tower there, or the game thinks there is.

Yes, your tower can be scooped by anybody if it is not anchored.

Note: I've not been able to, but I read it was possible (used to be?), to anchor at a moon where there is a station.

I can confirm that you CAN anchor a tower at a moon where there is a station. Did so just yesterday, and again the month before. As for tower placement, I believe if you move a decent ways away from the natural tower anchoring position, like 250km or so, that you can drop the tower there, and it will anchor it in a different position than the default (like 200km different), and probably won't run into the problem. I've seen PL do this

Sigh. You'll forgive me if I don't find this particularly reassuring. Here's hoping a GM is better at playing Game Psychiatrist than I am.

That's not the issue here, there's no station at the moon.

I'm trying the "fly a bazillion km away from the warpin before attempting to launch and anchor" workaround now.

Is there ANY way to anchor a POS offgrid of the moon warpin? I thought that was impossible, but I'm down to that as a possible explanation now.

This was it. I found an offline Medium Dread Gurista tower 3,000 km from the warpin, offgrid. I thought those were impossible/banned, but apparently not.

All the structures were labeled in Russian, by the way. Invent your own conspiracy theory.

When CCP recently changed the co-ordinate system, a lot of things got buggered, like bookmarks and moon warp-in points.

The warp-in is in the wrong spot, not the control tower.

Wasnt there an issue with some posses suddenly having been moved? I could swear i remember some people complaining at that time that the bookmark they had for the pos wasnt right anymore.

one of mine moved

granted I was still in the bubble but I started landing 'wrong' and not right next to the labs(about 10k off)
wasn't bad when I warped in, in the Vaga... but in the obelisk it was painful

That's actually proof it didn't move, and rather that the bookmarks were wrong.
