So it should be obvious why I need help, I know you're not supposed to mix ranges, etc.
2x 280mm howitzer arty I
1x upgraded limos standar missile bay I
2x 150mm light autocannon I
3x 250mm light arty cannon I
I was thinking about trying to fill ll or most of the slots with the 250s although I don't think i can fit all 8. Is this the best gun I should be fitting?

1x small cap battery I
1x coldgas I arcjet thrusters
1x neutron injector I
Another questions I have is should I be passive or active shield tanking and what modules to use for that.

1x overdrive injector system I
1x damage control I

- What role is it for? PVP? PVE?
- Don't mix weapons. It's a rule for a reason. Pick a role and stick with it.
- Arty makes the best of the optimal range bonus, but ACs are easier to fit and use.
- A single missile bay is practically useless, and you may as well fit a utility module in that high slot.
- Train to use DC2. Those are standard, and cheaper than the metas.
- You've got a frigate buffer on a cruiser sig radius. Passive will just get you blown up in the harder missions, but active will be neuted out in prolonged PVP.
- The thrasher is kinda sub-optimal for most roles. Either go up to a cruiser if you need lasting power, or down to a frig if you need speed. Destroyers SHOULD have a bit of both, but they combine slower speed with less lasting power and a higher sig radius.
- Rigs!

PVE specific:
- Active tank needed.
- AB.

PVP:
- Go alpha, or go home. Arty is your only chance, pretty much. A frig can easily just sig/speed tank your ACs, but if you get the drop, a full rack of 7 small arty cannons will either pop them or scare them off.
- MWD, because you need the speed.

Last time I ran the SoE epic arc I used this Thrasher:

[Thrasher, epic arc]
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II

Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Invulnerability Field II
Medium Shield Extender II

200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S
[empty high slot]

Small Core Defence Field Extender I
Small Projectile Ambit Extension I
Small Projectile Burst Aerator I

Downgrade the guns if needed, swap to named where you have to. I was impressed by the performance (previously used a Firetail, Worm, Rifter, Jaguar, Dramiel).

I run a Thrasher regularly for ratting, ninja salvage, missions and PVP. The arty Thrasher is a gat setup, unless something gets under your guns, and they can. I have had better luck with 200mm Auto Cannons and run them almost exclusively now.

Regardless, you will probably need Aux Current rigs to run the setup. That will give you enough grid for either Arty or AC's. Like noted above, run a medium shield and invul and it pretty much shines.

Something I probably should have thrown in at first: Destroyers as a rule are more difficult at low skills than they appear at first glance. They tend to be tight on fitting (especially with long range guns) and tend to only come in to their own with good to great support skills.

However, they can be made to work for L1s and L2s at lower skill. But you have to decide what you want to get out of the hull and then fit for it.

Luckily, the Thrasher is probably the most forgiving Destroyer in the game. It is bonused for artillery (optimal range and damage; if it were truly meant for ACs that would be falloff and rate of fire) but works just fine with ACs. If you opt for arties, you have to plan to kite. This requires less formal tank. If you opt for ACs, you have to be able to get in close, preferably close enough and fast enough to coast under cruiser guns. The latter requires a bit more of a tank, though I'd still take a decent buffer over a shield booster or armor repper any day in this hull.

In the end, that was the logic of the fit I posted: get in close, track well, do good damage, and have enough speed to mitigate incoming from larger hulls. It's also conveniently easy on fitting whereas trying to slap on a rack of 250s (and forget 280s without excellent skills) can be taxing on grid, forcing a smaller shield extender -- which is really, really bad.

If you really wanted a PvE artillery Thrasher it might look like this:

[Thrasher, 250s pve]
Gyrostabilizer II
Power Diagnostic System II

Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Invulnerability Field II

250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Small Projectile Metastasis Adjuster I

Much harder on fitting though. Drop those projectile rigs if needed.

Anyhow. Hope that helps more than just throwing a fit up without any discussion at all.

Listen to Zhilia, he speaks wisdom on this topic.

I too prefer a buffer fit with a MWD. Makes the Thrasher a quick and efficient killing machine. It eats frigs up with AC's and can do the same to cruisers if you maintain range with Arties.

I really like the Thrashe, it makes a great compliment to running a Rifter, especially in PVP.

Now if I could just find something in the cruiser class I like as well. Confused
