Which is better for general 0.0 and wh space gameplay?

Pros and cons? Please help me choose.

If you don't know which one you want/need, then probably neither is appropriate for you. But there are very, very, very few roles for Dreads atm, so the answer is Carriers.

Carrier.
For an individual, a Carrier gives you you more versatility - you wont have to rely on others for logistics (i.e. jumping your crap out to your home system) and also has a varied role in within the larger picture of Alliance life. Also, if you start training now, it's not much of a jump from carrier to super carrier, so you'll just be in time for the next nerf Wink

As has been said above, carrier.

If you go for a dread then you can shoot at some PoS, maybe an outpost or possibly do a hotdrop on someone. if you want to do some "serious damage" in a dread then you need to turn yourself into a sitting duck for 10 minutes.
Or you could fit 3-4 mining laser II and shoot some rocks.

Carriers can assist and partake in all the above, as well as fleet boost, do logistics, move stuff around and do "decent damage" without being a sitting duck.

Dreads are very specialised and although there is a place in the game for them, carriers have it better'er.

Which is better a hammer or a screw driver?

Think about it.

I've heard epic stories of dreadnoughts in wormhole space destroying sleepers. and being pretty good at destroying them.

By the time you can fly a dread effectively, ccp will likely have toned down the supercarriers, and dreads will be useful again.

Still, I'd go with carrier. No alliance will ever turn down another repair ship to keep their facilities running.

Just train for a titan. Like anyone can get one. Alliances hand them out like candy.

I hope your right but I am not planning on training up for something and hoping they fix it before I finish training

Well the hammer still has a few things it does well so it is useful, but for the average person's day to day use a screw driver is much more useful at just about everything else as more and more things are put together with screws making the hammer nearly obsolete for all but its few narrow roles.

Not in wspace where supers are not allowed and so gameplay is like the days of old.

If you are in C6 WH, dreads work nicely with 2-3 rapiers painting BS:s
