If you position yourself around a planetary body so that you cannot see the local star, you are in a Shadow. And yes, the xXDEATHXx means death to drones, as well as many other things, chief amongst them the execution of the name of the alliance

Part of a dictionary definition of "shadow" is: A position of less importance.
