the cloak is not broke, so no need of ideas.

I am not saying the cloak is broken, but the way it can be countered is.

Being a cloaked ship has become a lazy laid back way to cause tears and now that there are suggestions made to make being a cloaked pilot something people have to actually work with skills again the cloakers cry out loud that it's fine as it is.

Are you afraid of your own tears?

Actually no. Many here against these ideas, see the whole picture. Others like yourself, focus on one part of it.

To arrive at the point I am making, let me start with the basics and ask you this. How are they affecting you, while AFK cloaked?

I myself couldn't care less about afk cloakers.
I do care when someone can cause grief fr hours while only having the machine on and sitting cloaked in a system without people being able to counter it any other way than the few limited things at hand.

People actually not playing shouldn't have such an impact without a tool at hand to counter this in some form.
It's a MMORPG, not a MMOafkRPG.

Why are people so opposed to the option of training a skill to have a chance to find cloaked ships?

If you are active you won't get caught cause you move from time to time and voila.

If you are truly afk for a long period of time, why shouldn't there be a risk to you?

Disrupting enemies ISK making or whatever should involve more than just login an alt, put him or her in a covert ship in a system and cloak up.

This whole cloaking without care and go afk just made a large bunch of people lazy and the only defence I see is. " If he's afk than he can't do any harm"

You and I know just aswel why a cloaked ship has such an impact. Just that I want to see more than one side to it is what set's you off against my suggestion.

If you had answered the question, then we could arrive at what the issue really is.

Because it breaks cloaks and doesn't address the issue here.

So you say, but nearly all of the ideas given break active cloaking.

Eve is full of AFK activities, why does this one need changing. Plus it's not the cloak that's being used as a psychological warfare tool, whilst AFK.

They rely upon locals to react while they are AFK, they cannot disrupt anything without the locals reacting in a certain way. But this goes back to the original question.

But it's true that they cannot do any harm. They can't do anything aggressive, even when active and cloaked.
But yes there is an affect on locals, but how are they doing this whilst AFK?

The act of going AFK, is to try and improve the odds for the cloaker. But why do they need to resort to using this tactic? This also goes back to the original question.

remove the cloaked from local: this allows you to set traps to gank the cloaked that are active ...and the afk cloaked, if there are any left, will have no more emotional impact on you.

Seems to me the socalled "pvp-ers" are afraid of not being able to cause tears by one of the most abused flaws in game design.

If you are active at the keyboard you wont really be bothered with something which can scan for cloaked ships.
It's only dangerous for the afk ones.

So you still avoid the question, but make assumptions based on emotions rather than facts.

The answer is in the other thread.

the very idea that you should be allowed to scan for cloaked ships is dumb on it's face.. cloaked is cloaked.. working as intended..

I see cloaking as a tool that is useful to both the ganker and the gankee. if you nerf herders are successful in your campaign to ruin cloaking you will possibly remove the one way a solo player has of competing in WH's or null sec.. but eve is all about the blob right?

Cloaking is fine.. though the one thing that might make it even more fair would be removing the cloaked from local, getting rid of unrealistic free intel and allowing people to set traps for cloaked gankers.

I never said cloaking wasn't working as intended. I said that there should be ways to scan for a cloaked ship.

I see cloaking as an incomplete feature where there should be a gapfiller to scan or probe or whatever for cloaked ships.
And if your only successful way of getting competative PvP is a cloaked ship than you really should get out more often.
I also never was a promoter for blob vs blow or blob vs small group. But it's a tool that is used in null sec, high sec and low sec. But please show me the tool of finding a cloaked ship anywhere in a system?
Make it so that while you probe or scan for cloaked ships you can't use DScan and voila, that will make people think. Ow wait, that means more effort or even teamwork if your a small skirmish group.
And what if I scan for a cloaked ship and I can't see the one that aint cloaked heading towards my ocation cause I cant use DScan.

Once again, cloaking isn't the issue, the rest of the tools surrounding the whole cloaking is.
And make the playfield even more even then and remove local totally, why should you get free intell as to who is in a system without being seen in the system yourself?
Stop being a lazy arse and play actually with a tad of risk both ways.
Or is that what you actually want to avoid?

You are right, 0.0 isn't suppose to be safe, thats why posts about this topic exist. a cloaked safespoted ship is flawlessly safe because it can't be found.

Someone with their arse parked in a station is "safe" as well. Just like an afk cloaker, they're also not a threat.
