since some weeks ago, my eve client has been dropping randomly, but usually I don't have to wait more than 10 minutes. Very annoying. I reinstalled, cleared caches, submitted a bug report, changed router, etc etc. My connection seems to be good, 20mb cable, I have no packet loss and <20ms ping to 87.237.38.200.

Does the port 3764 trick still work ? I changed my prefs.ini but netstat still shows that the client is connecting to 26000.

Anyone else seeing more disconnects after the last patch / client updates? I've been playing eve for 6 years and it's never been so bad.. running the repair tool now, but not having much hopes tbh.. maybe it's time to give it up

Not really... sounds like network related. Some people have experienced some isp trafic shaping (in australia I believe), so might check that you don't belong to that group - if you're certain that problem is not local.

I'm getting the same problem, it's literally only been in the last week that the client is FUBAR'd, before that I'd never crash, now I crash every time i alt-tab in/out of game and then randomly when I'm sitting doing nothing. I know it's not my network, because nothings changed and it's working perfectly (as perfectly as it ever did). Sometimes i get a socket closed message, sometimes i get nothing, the game just locks up, closes and then restarts. I even uninstalled the last client update, with no effect.

You can not ever be certain that it is not your network unless you test your account in some other place on some other network and computer. It could be that it isn't your computer or your router, but it still could be your isp for example. You don't always know if something has changed. Sometimes even AV software update could change stuff what can pass your network. Sometimes ISP changes their filters and they can cause something. Sometimes routers break or configs get changed. There is always possibility that your connection is different today than it was yesterday :)

Being said that... socket closed error refers to packetloss. This would pretty much point to the direction that in fact, your connection to server is having some difficulties.

Internet is not perfect. I am not perfect. I am also very often wrong, so don't believe everything I just said :)

I understand that, but what I meant is that it's not like my network suddenly died or I changed ISP, in fact my alt seems to be running smoothly, I haven't been running him 24/7 but he hasn't crashed, while my main has Mad

Anyways this is bit off track reply but still want to add one personal experience about some unexpected 3rd party program behauviour to point that sometimes the solution can be where you least expect it to be.

After one EvE patch at last spring my internet exploder and firefox started to lose connection to internet if I was running more than 2 EvE clients at same time. Funny part was that in-game-browsers still worked fine.

It took me about 2 weeks of research to finally point the problem to avast antivirus network shield, which somehow managed to block my trafic without any notification, warning or log output. I didn't even know that it was able to do that :)

I spent most of my time looking the problem from latest eve update, some latest windows update, my firewall, my router... That was really fustrating.

I hate programs what do unexpected stuff - but they do exist :/
