Obsidian I'm not a beta player. I've only been around a few years and was suprised to find a now extinct moa variant. Does anyone know about this ship and could share why I'ts been removed or replaced? Or perhaps know of anymore extinct ships?

Obsidian is not extinct. It is quite easy to make. Just import Water onto a Lava planet via the PI interface and you have created Obsidian. Don't forget to use Diamond Pick Processors, otherwise you will not get an Obsidian.

I've heard tales of the Golden Magnate as well as the Imperial Navy Apocalypse.

They died in the finest tradition of the Imperial Navy.

... or did they?

edit: Also Raven State Issue. Never heard much of it, tho. I _think_ some guy is holding onto it. It's only ::words::, tho. I've no idea.

i think what he means is older ships that have been phased out, rather than tournament ships and the like. this is a great pic (sadly, more of a fleet thing, individual ships not so much) of ships from the tyrannis times, and includes things like Tyrfing, Dragonfly, and a variety of others i've never seen or heard of (i only joined eve in the last six months). [Edit: my bad, these are carrier drones, fighter bombers, whatnot]

there was another better historical look at eve ships somewhere out there, but i seem to have lost the bookmark link. ugh

I'm pretty sure they have never 'phased out' a ship once they have introduced it

Also, by its description as a 'battlecruiser', its clearly a relic of old database info for a ship that was never released.

Extinct?? Those ships you mentioned were barely the drawing board, no 3d model of their own.

What you really meant is the Amarr battleship Belladrine.

I don't know what that ship does, but I want one now.

Back in beta, and even during the early years of the game after it was live, there was a buttload of ships/items in the database that were never released. I was around starting 3 years before release on various toons, and I dont recall ever seeing the Obsidian actually in game.

I don't think there's been any ship that was introduced and later pulled. But there have been python and anaconda mines pulled (I still have BPOs for them.. dunno why) The harvester mining drone is becoming more and more rare. I'm not sure BPOs for elite mining drones ever got seeded but it's still listed on the market. and I still have my Tutorial attack drone, which got pulled in 2004-2005 I believe (just an acolyte with a diff name and does no damage)

Weren't the Micro "xx" modules pulled out of game as well. I know the micro field extenders no longer drop and items such as that. I use to have a bunch but I guess I sold a lot of them off when I was clearing out my inventory a long time ago I only have around 1-2 of those things left.

Beyond modules, I don't think they ever pulled a ship out of game after introduction. They introduced rare limited ships, which were all blown up before and thus no longer exist.
