CCP has been talking about nerfing AFK cloakers forever, yet they nerf anomalies first. Umm, priorities? Currently it is impossible to stop them from hotdropping at any random time because you can't bait them 24/7 considering they are there for WEEKS at a time. Even if you bait them, GL catching stealth bomber gangs. Also, if I'm baiting 24/7, how am I supposed to make isk?

Oh well, guess I should stick to high-sec in my faction fit marauder to make isk, with literally no risks whatsoever.

Maybe that's because AFK cloakers are easily countered by people who don't think that fitting a Warp Disruptor II may give them cancer.

If a AFK cloaker hotdrops with a 20 man SB gang, any subcap will be dead in under 10 seconds with that DPS, and a WD only has 20km range.

Actually stop doing cosmic anomalies and the problem is solved, switch to scan signatures which will require them to scan you down with combat probes. You will be able to realize easily if the cloaky is afk or not with d-scan then.

Just rounded it because it doesn't make a difference you see, you can't point a SB at that range.

If I get hit by a bus while afk cloaking I could be causing unnecessary grief to carebears right up until the next downtime despite being dead.

CCP have been talking? Links now please.

I know that players have been *****ing since forever, but I hang out a lot in F&I and I don't think I've ever seen a dev post in an AFK cloaking thread.

Someone that is afk 99.999% of the time is called an "AFK cloaker", basic nullsec conventions, look it up next time.

Indeed. It's referenced in the "Basic Null Sec for Babbies" book.

I would not worry too much. The way the Pro-AFK explot crowd has been acting things seem closer than ever to CCP fixing this. Also remember that the team has been busy before on various big expansions and they admitted that nullsec needed more attention. Thus the winter expansion.

AFK-Cloaking will end. They know its exploiting a mechanic intended to allow active players to do activities in hostile territory. The issue is likely how cloaking is implemented and fixing things is going to require more than a single programmer flipping a few lines of code. The Pro-hisec easy ganks exploit crowd acted the same when people asked for that exploit to end and CCP likely found that to be an easy solution compared to this.

Remember that there are a wide amount of legitimate uses for cloak that require one to be at the computer. You have to be careful to target the ones exploiting the system to be AFK risk free and nobody else. There has been good suggestions but don't think that just because topics fill with pro exploiters that CCP isnt listening. Matter of fact the more that come and proclaim it not an exploit and tell you to "pull yourselves up by the bootstraps" the more likely they fear the change is coming.

There's a billion dumb threads on this topic and the arguments for changing it always get shot down and the carebears ignore logic and continue to act like they deserve to get their hands held by CCP.

Meanwhile CCP say nothing on the subject and yet you thing you are making progress?

I'm not pro-cloaking. I'm anti pandering to wimps that aren't prepared to take a risk in their 0.0 dreamland.

That kind of remark is entirely uncalled for. Please get some perspective and realise we are discussing a videogame here. Reported for wishing personal harm or death in real life.

Like I said. Same stuff as before the CONCORD buff. Funny how they go on and on about how CCP hasn't fixed it yet so supposedly they never will yet show up time and time again to any thread that dares mention AFK cloaking in anything but a positive light.

Yep because the Pro AFK cloak exploit crowd knows that with the nullsec attention coming. CCP isn't going to put critical fixes on the back burner anymore. They want to scream and compare people to a children's television show instead of suggesting fair solutions or even discuss them.

For instance why are they not behind a Tech 2 ship that can eventually detect cloakers? Would that not be a viable profession to spend a great deal of training on?

Edit: Agree that any violence in RL is uncalled for. This is a game or a virtual reality and despite disagreements on implementation or use of certain aspects. We must never call for violence over it.

Unless you have a perfect chain of observation from the cloakers entry to the system to your entry to a public signature, then it has to be presumed that the cloaker scanned it down when opportunity presented, and should have a bookmarked vantage point that allows them to determine whether someone is at the sig without launching probes.

I also tried to bring that up but got ignored. AFAIK, CCP has never spoken about nerfing AFK cloakers.

Lets be completely clear here people, CCP does not consider AFK cloaking to be a problem, nor a bug, nor an exploit, at least not that I have ever heard.

Until someone links evidence to the contrary, OP is just blowing hot air around the room.

because without this word, the complainers would sound incredibly stupid with no real argument on their side, hence they abuse words like "abuse" or "exploit", to emphasize their complaints.

indeed.

this old-as-ages argument still goes on and the very first answer for this is still valid:

if he's afk, then all he's doing is sitting there doing nothing. and this is a hell of a whining for someone that isn't doing nothing besides showing up on local.

I love AFK Cloaking. It ****es off those that can't hack going after an armed ship and would rather pick on defenseless ships. You can take away the cloaks if you take away the weapons or at least make them explode when they hit the fire button lol.

Amazing how this topic sounds so close to the one before CCP Buffed up CONCORD.

*Rubs hands* Yep the change seems to be ever closer considering how much the pro AFK Exploit crowd is flooding the various topics.
