Can Hawk pvp well?Shield boost fit? Passive fit? Dual web? Anyone who flies a Hawk wanna tell me about it, your favourite way to fit it and how effective it is? I'm thinkin rockets/blaster, shield boost nano or something.

It can be quite a nasty little thing.

Scram, dual web and a MWD

Small armor repper and DCII

Slam into them on the MWD, put on the scram and dual web and unleach the rockets. Solid hit after solid hit, paper DPS is low on this thing. But the effective DPS is very good.

Rocket Hawk is a viable PvP ship. Don't be afraid to go with something other than kinetic rockets. My active tank fit uses a Nos to keep the cap running while boosting.

To give you an idea, a drake using kinetic missiles against an unmodified shield tank does 75% of the DPS it could be doing with EM missiles.

By comparison, a hawk (with a 10% kinetic bonus) gets 90% of damage that EM missiles would give. So even in a rather exaggerated example, kinetic is nearly as good as the best option available. Unless you're shooting at a Gallente T2 ship, kinetic is usually fine.

the fitting is called a hookbill and its a pretty good frigate

the only thing you could do with your hawk is sell it to help you buy a hookbill for missiles or a dramiel for guns

Avoid any use of small shield boosters for PvP...

If you can fit a medium shield booster go ahead, but I'd recommend using a medium extender and hope to kill the oponent before he kills you.

You won't be making use of the Hawk's shield boost bonus though... just saying.

My exact fit, damage and rof rig will help with the dps.

An armor mwd hawk is far more effective than a shield mwd fit, due to the duel webs you can do more solid dps and also have a better dictation of range.

Can kill any other frig when flown well. Such a shame it can't hold drams but they sure as hell run if they're smart.

Rockets, Med meta 4 SB, cap booster, mwd, meta 4 scram and the rest is obvious.

Dram wouldnt even need to run, srsly...learn how to fit rocket ships.

MWD with no web = no range dictation AT ALL
No web = no real dps

That fit literally cant hold anything, I engaged a fit like that once in my harpy....his dps couldnt break my shield recharge and all he done was tank me all day...i eventually just slowboated away.

Never take fitting advice from someone in FA

Rockets hit fine and do much more effective dps than one would think even without a web. You're obviously fighting fail pilots and carebears. Please fly a ship before you judge it and think you know all about it.

One thing you are right about is the range dictation. When i'm in empire space i go with AB and when i'm roaming null I use a mwd purely because having to run from gangs is neccasary. And yes some people are stupid enough not to run. Unfortunately you're neglecting the hawk if you dont maximise it's active tank so i would rather fly a harpy for the web (I fly both)

As for "Never take fitting advice from someone in FA" that's a naive way to think as FA has hundreds if not thousands of people.

You're both being butt-hurt kiddies.

Super active tanked Hawk would be a monster to fight other frigs outnumbered in lowsec.

Buffer/web/dual web armor Hawk would be great in 0.0 security space where killing fast is the key to survival.

When did i say the armor hawk is bad? Im just saying he doesnt seem open to the idea of not having a web.
