Hint, moving helps, and if they have enough support that they can web you into immobility, then a dreadnought could have done the same thing too.

Titans are one of the few anti-blob weapons left. When someone brings a blob of 600 battleships to the field and lag gets so heavy that bombs won't detonate anymore, there has to be some defense available besides bringing down the node.

Eve should be more than "numbers always win."

What happens when "the blob" has titans?

The slight problem being a properly supported titan requires a blob to kill.
So basically according to you - they're built to kill the blobs they cause?

Ideally? We get some supercap killmails.

Surely you're not naive enough to think that titans are the only reason we have blobs.
Edit: And while blobs may be necessary to kill titans, that doesn't mean that nothing of value is accomplished by the time a titan ultimately dies.

And yet, this still happens.

CCP did a good job with nerfing the Doomsday. But to the big alliances, 80bil is nothing. That's probably what some alliances spend/earn on a daily basis, weekly at the very least.

Point is, Titans are still being used as front line ships, where their original intention was to be more like massive logistical ships where as carriers and dreads do the fighting.

Moving helps of course, but in the massive blobs in which titans are used there isn't much room to move around.

So you honestly think that it will remain a "counter to the blob" at that point?

Also: have you ever been in a major supercap battle?

Correction, Titan WAS anti-blob tool. When they removed AoE doomsday, it became carrier sniper, unable to take down massive fleets in split second.

AoE doomsday was better than what we have now. Lag wasn't the reason why it was taken away, AoE doomsday REMOVED lag. Reason was whiners.

Right so your idea good fleet combat is that any alliance able to field more than 12 or so Titans - and there are really quite a lot of alliances who can do that - can clear the field of all non-supercaps every 10 minutes? Wow, that sounds amazing fun for the 600 or so people who have Titans. Not so great for the other 200,000 or so people who play EVE though.

I remember the days of cloaked titans camping gates while being just barely in grid. Hostile roaming HAC gang enters, gets insta'd, lolz. Oh what fun. Now that there are 3 or 4 times as many titans as there were in the AoE days, do you think that would happen more or less than it used to?

Also, there were blobs when Titans had AoE doomsday. It was nothing to do with "whiners". The end came when PL demonstrated their ability to kill a tanked carrier with doomsdays alone. AoE DD from individual titans was never an effective anti-blob device, it just meant that hostiles had to bring DD-proofed BS. And because DD proof BS dont do much damage, they had to bring lots of them.

Conclusion: you simply dont know what you're talking about.

What a stupid argument... It's a good thing CCP doesn't agree with you in their last blog, or we'd end up with a big coalition dominating all of 0.0 with thousands of titans, and forever impossible to challenge for anyone else.

Btw, when titans are 50 or 80km away, their guns WILL track you, moving or not. And that's assuming you can move at all in the lag-heavy environnement.

To be honest, Titans are not really the issue, it is more Supers, when you can drop 100 supers that each have a tank that is nearly as good as a titan then eve becomes Super Caps online, Whoever has the most supers wins.

I really hope that the Super nerf in winter fixes this.

Note I am a person who flies titan/supers and even I want a nerf.

LOL is this not already happening, DRF & friends ( NC.WN, Raiden) control half of EVE, if they remove -A- and friends they will have 3 quarters of 0.0 - This is not soley due to titans, it is down to Supers.

If webbed, I don't see why this shouldn't be possible. They aren't torpedoes after all. Signature radius doesn't make THAT much of a difference on it's own. Also it's not like a BS is a small or anything.

No, the reason why AoE doomsday was removed was because Goonswarm managed to build enough Titans to be able to instapop all capitals on the field.

The genius Mittani, the rest of the CSM and CCP agreed that titans in their current form are balanced so I would not expect a nerf or at least nothing close to the nerf supercarriers will be getting.

Raep-fit Titans hit moving BS/BC fine and instapop with every shot. I don't know how you missed the memo, because this has been proven for at least the last six months.

If goonswarm at all existed at that particular moment, they definitely did not have the highest titan count around. They were exceptionally slow getting their first few. PL were the ones who showcased themselves doomsdaying their own thanatos with enough titans. IIRC they were something like fourth in titancount at the given time.

The reason AoE doomsdays were removed was most likely the near enough impossibility of conquering a system when the defender had numerous titans and a cynojammer in place. Good luck tearing down a cynojammer by a deathstar with nothing but subcaps when there's a doomsday going of every few minutes.

When it comes to market balance (price/availability) sure it is a major factor, but for ship-to-ship balance?
I have killed Recons in a Punisher and HACs in a Slicer, player skill/experience (not to be mistaken for character skill) is infinitely more important.

ISK/Skill as balancing tool is brought up each and every time a nerf is inbound, currently it is plastered all over the "Dramiel/Oneiros Balance" announcement thread.
You can not and should not be able to buy success, a leg up/crutch is OK but not actual iWin buttons.

And no, I haven't been to blob-land for over a year so have no first hand knowledge of how bad it has become.
If Tit's are able to pop moving BC/BS then something is off I think, but then again I'd rather they were fleet support platforms than actual dps ships .. looking forward to seeing what CCP comes up with, but I am not holding my breath to be honest.

can you ear them? "WELPPPPPPP"
