I must first state the obvious; I love the fiction of this game.

The depth and complexity of the the back story is what keeps me coming back. However, it seems like canon and cannons don't keep pace well. One of my favorite pieces of lore was the Minmatar, with the help of the Thukker tribe, striking back against the Amarr during the Empyrean Age expansion and novel. The fact that they freed millions of people and took back the Starkmanir tribe, which the Ammatar had kept safe since day one, was awesome.

So my question is this; why are the standings still the same as they were before all these events? If I remember correctly, the the Thukkers and Nefantars were welcomed back the the Republic. Would it muck up too many people's standings to have them changed at this point? Should we ever expect it to change?

I know it seems like a minor thing but I truly believe the game should keep pace with the story. They are one and the same anyway. Very Happy

I understand your point, however I'm not sure a standing reset is necessary or even desirable.

I think what we see in that story line is Naturalization and Cultural assimilation at work.

The actions of the Nefantar are those of a fifth column, when they effected their plan it included reclaimed their heritage and identity as Nefantar.

Those that choose to retain the Amatar identity do so because they retain their assumed/naturalised identity and loyalty to Amatar.

What we see is a cultural divergence, what was one becomes two. I think it is supposed to provide a little clue, a perspective on some of the ancient history canon.

I'll leave you with a little snippet of The Prophecy of Macaper

I certainly agree with you on your point about there being two groups now and cultural divergence. Which I suppose would indeed warrant negative standings between the Ammatar and the Minmatar Republic. Which may bring up a new subject; do we need a new corporation in the Republic for the Nefantar? They are a rather small group but I think that their roll was important enough in history to not be so easily forgotten.

I think that The Prophecy adds great insight into future events. I think I have to disagree on the timing of the events though. The prophecy list is as such:

1. "The cosmetic kiss of the comets"
2. (The second event mentions a flood but there is no quote)
3. "Roaring stone that silences the world"
4. "The appetite of nothing expands over the world"
5. "The little brother makes the final sorrowful steps home; he is not welcome"
6. "What was many now becomes one when one becomes four"
7. "Return of the dark light from the heart of the mother"

According to the chronicle, events 1-3 may have already happened. The one we are referencing (#6) seems like it is still a ways off. I don't think #4 has been fulfilled yet unless we want to count rouge drones as the fulfillment to that part of the prophecy. So far, to our knowledge, no one has made contact with people from the Milky Way galaxy as I assume number 5 is talking about. For #6, it sounds like it is talking about the 4 empires uniting under a common banner one day. I think the "when one becomes four" part took place when the Eve Gate collapsed. Gods help us when #7 happens. Wink
