More complete info on the service is available on the website
Preface: API-based corp and alliance groups are unaffected by this change.
Any feedback is of course welcome, but I'm starting this thread as a place to get feedback on the latest features change in testing:Channels will now automatically have an associated Group with Shared Roster created that lists any Owners, Admins, or Members of that channel.
Note that you can join open channels without becoming a member of that channel, and thus won't be added to the group.
This allows you to use the familiar set of channel administration tools to manage membership to roster groups. If you set a channel as members only, then you can choose who to invite and thus who will show up on the roster, and consequently who will receive pings/broadcasts. You can then use the same tools to remove channel members.
will open a config panel for any channel you own in most clients.Legacy Groups
: Eventually any groups without an associated channel will be deleted. However I'm waiting to turn that on until folks using the old group system have a chance to migrate (just create a channel with the same name as the existing group).
Since groups without associated channels aren't being deleted for the moment: if you delete a channel the group will continue to exist 'stale'. Simply tell The Postmaster group leave <groupName>
to remove yourself.
