I was looking at getting windows 7 to run on my iMac, reasoning is asicly for Eve because I heard how mch better the windows client is vs Mac. I am also looking at another online game too, forgot the name... Basically eve but with robots.

Anyhow I went to BestBuy and grabed the box, asked a rep there what the price was... $199. I figured it would be expensive but ****, I am not paying two hundred dollars to improve eve gameplay.

Now what I am hoping is that I can find a copy of xp or something that is a tad bit cheaper.

If money is a problem then why'd you get ripped off by buying a mac in the first place?

The game you are thinking of is Prepentuum, probably does not work on a MAC because nobody wants to make games for MACS.

If you are a college/uni student you can get windows 7 for like 30$.

I advise to build/get a windows computer next time you buy, and don't believe all that marketing crap about viruses. Windows 7 is fine.

Just ignore Diesel, everybody else does and he doesn't apparently know any better.

There are stupidly enough several windblows boxes ranging from a bit over 100 bucks to far over 200 bucks.
Yes Micro$haft milks their customers anyway they can. So you need to look for the box with the least on it, windgoose starter or something like that.

You can try Ebay, but my experience is that you won't find any cheap windooze boxes. I got one from someone claiming it was an original disk for 30 bucks with XP and when it arrived it not only was a copy but filled from top to bottom with stupid virii, malware and add ware. Now that was - fun. Evil or Very Mad

Try your neighbor's son or daughter, for a disk to loan I mean.

Perpetuum works on a Mac through crossover, see here.

Yeah I have no intreats with eBay, been screwed over by them once, and that's enough. I have seen ads for XP for 99 or something like that, I rather buy that than risk it on an unknown copy.

Actually he is correct about many things he says. The 30 dollar windows was very helpful for me.

Plus you sound like a macfanboi, don't know any better.

Word of advice before you waste any money on Windows XP:

If youre running OSX Lion, you cannot Bootcamp anything but Windows 7, unless you already had windows installed on a partition before installing Lion.

Something to think about, before you start throwing money around, is do you actually have a complaint against the EVE client that you're running on your iMac right now?

Many people moan about trivial details (a half second here.. a half second there..). Do you share these complaints, or are you just going along with a fad? Proof requires two components: reasoning and evidence. People may shout a lot of reasoning, but is there substance to their claims?

I run EVE on an early 2011, 13" MacBook Pro with OS X Lion. My frames per second always reaches above 55, even outside Jita 4-4. I can even go a step further and open up a virtualized Windows 7 inside of OS X Lion, via Parallels Desktop, and my gameplay is still not significantly impacted.
