Greetings fine sirs and madams of S&I, I had a question about how to efficiently setup 6 planets to produce POS Fuel.

Should I have 5 planets extract the resources and the 6th manufacture them into fuel?

Use all 6 to produce raw materials and just give them to a corpie to manufacture them across his planets?

Just make the most profitable PI commodity I can and sell it, then buy the fuel?

This is actually my first time ever messing with Planetary interaction, and I've already looked on the wiki for info. Also I apologize idf this has been asked before.

Oh and I already have Command Center Upgrades and Interplanetary Consolidation to V. Also I don't have access to Ice or plasma planets.

Thanks for your time

EDIT- If possible, I'd like to create the fuels outright, as I live in a backwater Lowsec system and Logistics can get hairy on occasion Very Happy

If you have the right mix of planets this could work.

Do you trust your corpie?

Do the math

I'm sorry for the vague answers, but it really depends what types of planets you have, your trust that he won't run away with your stuff, or if you can make something more profitable and end up with POS fuel and a profit.

As a general rule of thumb, it takes 2 good planets (I live in nullsec so my experience is probably atypical) can extract enough r0A to make enough p1A to run half of an p1A+p1B-->p2 reaction on a fifth planet. So your ideal situation is 2 planets mining p1A and 2 planets mining p1B so that you can use a fifth planet to make your p2. For the example of mechanical parts that I used to do for a while, you would make Precious Metals on 2 planets, Reactive Metals on 2 planets, and combine them into Mechanical Parts on a 5th planet. This is the most efficient way to do it. You can use the 6th planet to mine a little of both if you want, to balance out any imbalances, or for whatever you want. Ideally you have alts just for PI that can do this for every p2 you need. Your extra planet on characters with 6 planets can be used to turn p2 into p3. So if I wanted to make Robotics, I could use the 6th planet to make Robotics out of the Mechanical Parts I made and import the other input material; or, I could use an alt to produce the other thing.

I have access to:

5 Barren
1 Oceanic
6 Temperate
1 Storm
4 Lava
2 Gas

Actually really I was referring to the fact that before I ran the numbers , I thought that I could manufacture all the P0's into the 5 non-ice POS fuels on one planet, but after looking into it I have found that I cannot do it all in one day, perhaps I could in 2 alternating days.

Is there a better way af achieving this goal?

The Corpie is my Boss, so yes trust is a non-issue.

If this is inefficient, I do not mind doing some math to see if its profitable, I actually am sick in the head and enjoy some good research regarding EVE ( I guess its a Industrialist thing), it would just be a logstics issue since I live way off the grid.

This is good stuff, defenitley noted! Although I am hoping to be able to do this with one character, alts arent my thing...

looks like you have the right mix of plannets to make all pos fuels,
depending on your pos size it actually takes a few days to 2 weeks to produce a months worth of pi fuel , for a small pos ice mining 2 hours a week gives you enough ice productss fullfill all monthly fuel needs only thing you probably need to buy if you putting up a pos in high sec are the starbase charters , either thru lp or buy them on the market they are relative cheap

I have a small research pos up , it is enough to fullfill the needs of a very small corp
so i usually got muy monthly quota in a week , every thing over i sell for a nice profit

having a alt trained for pi aswell makes it even easier and more profitable

there some great spreadsheets available for all your PI productions , Really a must have, they can be found in the sticky thread or someone else will post them for you since i can't acces them at the moment

lava planets for youur chiral structures and toxic metals
barren for your precious and reactive metals
oceanic and gas planet for your coolant and oxygen

and a temperate for your production , try and get a seperate planet for each commodity ( hence training a alt in PI aswell)

Personally, I have a 5 planet setup.

Barren for Mech parts
Lava for Consumer Elec
Gas for Coolant
Plasma for Enriched Uranium
and I run a second Gas for Oxygen

I pull both commodities from the single planet. It works, though it's slow going. I have my ALT's pulling the "short" commoditites, Noble Metals is a big one for me. I've got 3 planets on my Alt just for producing Precious Metals from Noble Metals.

Given these, I would recommend making coolant on the storm (alot easier then on a gas due to lower power needs), Gas for oxygen, 2 barren for Mech parts, 1 lava for consumer electronics, and then either temperate or barren for the robotics produced from mats from 2 of the planets. If you put them in a sec level .4 or below system, with CC lvl 5 you should easily be able produce 10 units of each p2 an hour giving you enough for your pos plus some left over to sell. Might be able to do it in High sec but i wouldnt recommend it because you can make alot of isk just selling the left overs. Which you can then use to buy the enriched uranium.

I've been playing with noob-PI recently myself so I can understand your mound of questions. Here's what I've gotten in place so far.

I'm using a Main plus an Alt, but I assume since you have a trusted Corpie you could just have them do the extra or handle your robotics facility.

First off, check nearby systems find a Plasma. Plasma is the only planet you can go from Raw Material -to- Enriched Uranium on a single planet, and you don't need much.

On each planet I produce Raw > Fuel. This cuts down on a lot of logistics and extra costs of "Export, Import, Export".

Toon 1 - Barren 1 - Mechanical Parts
Toon 1 - Lava - Consumer Electronics
Toon 1 - Plasma - Enriched Uranium
Toon 2 - Barren 1 - Mechanical Parts
Toon 2 - Gas - Coolant -AND- Oxygen

Toon 1 - Temperate - Robotics Factory

Worked out that in my Sol there was one Barren that was good for Mech Parts.
Math comes out to needing more Mech Parts per day than you can produce in 24hours with just one installation. For a small POS you need 128 Mechanical parts per day, but a single Adv Production facility can only make 120/day.

I was originally going to just farm raw, run it through the first production cycle then port it to my temperate planet for final production, but there isn't a way to say "this unit uses 1000 Toxic Metals and that unit only 360" other than trying to use multiple storage facilities, not practical. That's why I moved to having all planets go from Raw to P2 in one location.

Since you have your skills at V, you'll be better able to meet your production needs. (My skill is only at IV)

I'm currently trying to figure up what I can do with my spare planet spots for making extra income. I've found that I want to sell stuff that is at the P2 level to make any money, but check your local economy. (P0 = raw mats (dirt), Robotics = P3)

Hope that made sense and was helpful.

I have a setup like this on one character
2 barren extracting for mechanical parts
1 temperate for coolant
1 gas for coolant
1 gas for oxygen
1 barren producing coolant and mechanical parts

I easily supply 4 pos's with mechanical parts, coolant and oxygen with this setup. I just wish the customs cargo capacity was larger.

if you havent the diagrams of Eve planetary
, just some clic and you find http://www.hst-soft.de/korai/Eve_PI_Diagrams_v1_4.pdf

check the color convention for locate kind of planets

in my memorie
you can producer any component onto Temperate & barren planets , just import the basis component ...
