I didnt see an obvious way to trade it. So if not, why the hell not?

What if youve got 6 characters across 3 accounts. 1k aur doesnt do any of them any good, but giving them all to your main might stimulate the aur market a little

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: You can buy something worth less than 1000 AUR, and give it to another character. That's kinda like giving another player AUR.

AUR wasn't created to benefit us players, it's created for CCP book keeping reasons. The very point of AUR was not to be tradeable like plex.
