So, I hear that the players were getting 1,000 aurum for free today. We know it part of CCP's new bag of tricks, but my not being all that bright I actually figured ccp might introduce lower priced items into the store. Boy was I wrong.

2,500 to 4,000 aur for the new items... seriously ccp? You've got to be kidding me. You introduced more overpriced items? Bahahaha!

Dont get me wrong, I laughed hard when I saw the prices on the initial roll out and am laughing harder still at seeing the prices of the next roll out. But seriously? Is this the Eve remake of Britney Spears song 'Oops I did it again'?

Guys. Your screwing up. Yes. Really. Personally I think its funny as hell, but let me tell you a little secret.

I would have bought a full wardrobe for both my main and my alt if entire outfits cost 200 aur ( two hundred ) and were destructible upon pod loss. I would have bought different outfits for my moods because it would have been cheap. I was planning on buying a GTC to split into plex and then Aurum to do exactly this for the lolz. Until the prices came out, then I lol'd and put my wallet away.

I am one of the players who have been waiting for years for walking in stations and truly looked forward to it. Now we have captains quarters and I have to shut the frigging thing off on both my clients to keep the heat down.

You still havn't learned from the first pricing fiasco. I was looking forward to having my own upgradable captains quarters with brighter lights so I can stop stubbing my toes in the dark and an in station player establishment. Will charge silly aurum prices for that as well?

I don't think the free AUR was meant so you could buy up the whole store without breaking up at least 1 plex yourself. But, if you save it until we get MORE rewards, then you'll be able to get a few things with your shiny, free AUR's.

what ccp really needs to do is introduce the tf2 crate system into eve. crates drop randomly from rats (or better quality crates depending on the rat) and you have to pay the "crateman" to unlock them for you.

My takeaway:
a) OP quoted Britney Spears as an authoritative source, and
b) OP wants to dress like Britney Spears

Neutral

I can afford it. I just understand the psychology behind statements like:

If you have to ask the price, you cant afford it.

It is very funny how many rich people that aren't too bright fall for it. Very Happy

Or let the players strip the clothes off of corpses of pilots we pod. That would be true to Eves gameplay.

Troll on/
And ofcourse these crates contain allot of crap except a few super duper modules and such which are untradeable unless you pay some more money to make them trade-able.
Troll off/

Like anybody actually sees that you have a monocle or not... not even talking about clothing.

Aurum prices are around ten times more than I would consider acceptable. And the style of those items so far has been rather unimpressive. Guess they're just gauging the amount of idiots with too much money in the EVE community before releasing good looking and lower priced items that more people are willing to afford. But this, this is almost insulting.

they have explicitly said and posted a very similar statement. Worded differently of course.

the 1000 AUR is not a gift it's a promotion. think about it, what can you buy with 1000 AUR ? however, if you have already 1000 AUR you'll be more tempted to get a bit more to buy something. it's a trap.

if they really wanted to make a nice gift and using the store, they could have offered to everyone 3500 AUR : the value of a PLEX. meaning the ability for people to get 1 free month of game, but with the necessity to use the store to buy something and resell it on ISK market (or use the clothes of course). it's what they want, stimulate the market, but by 1000 AUR it makes no sense.

other solution : quickly add items at 1000 AUR or less so that people have a reason to use them without being forced to buy more.
and obviously no, we can't all buy the men's boots.

Actually it makes perfect sense. It goads more stupid people into wasting PLEXs for useless pixels.

Ok, I know that my Bhaalgorn and my Vindicator are pixels as well, but at least they look good, others can see them and get shot in the face by them.

I DO feel insulted by the pricing strategy, not because I cannot afford it, but because I feel that CCP thinks I am so stupid as not to see the obvious ploy there.

Hell, if they went "Sorry, we might go bankrupt since there's way too many PLEX around" I might have even bought and trashed some, but this marketing ploy is so low that CCP lost all my trust and well meaning.

This is outrageous! We will not stand for this! CCP giving away free AURUM in an ammount that we can't even buy anything with?! Years from now I'll still have to stare at that "1,000 AUR" in sickly blue whenever I open my wallet and... wait, what? 1,000 AUR is enough for Men's 'Precision' boots?

Well okay then. Very Happy

It sickens me that they claim that the prices are "affordable" and that every capsuleer will want them.

GTFO CCP. 2k-4k AUR is not a MICROtransaction. If you had any brains you would price everything 500 AUR or similar. Profits would increase dramatically. I refuse to be sucked into this scam you call the NeX. Id rather buy a fleet of battleships than some stupid shoes no one will ever see at your current prices.

Unless your a female character, then it doesn't buy anything at all.

The point isn't about getting free aurum. The point is about how we can't steal the clothes off a corpse, that the clothes are indestructable, and that the prices need to come down to something a little more 'fun' and less 'If you have to ask the price, you cant afford it'.

Though I do respect the psychology behind, An idiot and their money will soon be parted.

Fellers,

You are naked in your pod. Only way you are getting those hotpants without paying, is if your target was hauling.

We all need hotpants.

Short and simple, EVE's NEx is CCP's copy of Spectral Tiger mounts from WoW. Rare, expensive, inspire awe into the lesser ranks of players and can't be lost in any way. Just here at EVE they are the new kids on the block and so far they look like very r*tarded posh kids.

This is not about adding revenue to CCP. It's about having an ego d*ck the size of a mammoth's and completely diregard the A,B,C, 101.1, of the business. Why succeed when you can dig your own original way to fail?

So essentially someone up there in the ranks of CCP is comitted to turn MTs into a failure, and has got the whole company cheering to the waste of those development resources.

Just because it's not affordable for you or me doesn't mean it isn't for anyone. I totally agree, I'd much rather have a faction fit shiny than a monocle, but some people have many shinys and want some bling bling. If they can afford a billion ISK (and believe me, there are plenty that can), let them have it.

This is a science fiction game. I'm sure we have the technology to put a liquid and air tight drawer in our pods to carry our clothes around with us. Stealing clothes would give a real good incentive to blow up that pod. As it is, I cant be arsed.

Consider this, we will probably get jog mode instead of moving escalators we can step on to move us faster in stations. Kinda says a bit all by itself doesnt it.

Your all missing a valuable point I think. Assuming Aurum can be transferred, ccp has just given big alliances of 1000 players or more the chance to clothe their fc or alliance commander.

surely 1200 -2000 players worth of free aurum would equate to a pair of pants or a shiny sparkly hat. So this is really about community interaction (that is IF aurum can be transferred)

CCP, these aren't "high fashion" items. They're a few lines of code that make something that looks like a high fashion item in a video game. Please quit being so full of yourself because this is ridiculous. Why would I want to buy some ****ty cloths when I could use the same isk I got from PLEXs to get a ****ing tech 3? Where is your logic in this? I was absolutely for Incarna when i first started playing but now I can see your wasting everyone's time. I will NEVER buy anything from the NeX store until your prices become reasonable. Like 30 Aurum for a pair of ****ing pants, not the imbecilic price of 3000.

I totally agree, drop the prices to around the 500AUR mark and sales would defo increase dramatically, with over 40k worth of players dropping 500 here and there, they would make decent profit in no time, instead of outraging the eve comunity ONCE AGAIN! with over priced items *sigh* when are they gonna learn that greed is NOT goodQuestionRolling Eyes

unless they start piling on the free aurum in very large amounts, I'm not buying into the nex store until they lower all prices by 50%.
