Hey, I'm about to choose what BS I should go for. I've been flying both a Drake and Hurricane and both worked great, with the drake being slightly better. I am now about to choose what BS I should train for. Either I go for a Raven or a Maelstrom.

The raven setup: I've been looking on This One for some time now, because I used his Drake setup and that one worked great. I got about 12 Days training to fly that, maybe a bit more for some fitting skills. + Forgot to mention, some training time to be able to use Cruise Missiles, but no long training.

The Maelstrom: For the maelstrom I've been looking on This One because the high rating, and I do not know alot about minmatar ships. Maybe downgrade to T1 Guns. For that one I have about 92 Days of training, maybe a bit more for fitting skills.

As you can see, there is a HUGE difference when it comes to training time, I want to know; Is there a huge difference when it comes to performance in lv4 missions.

Otherwise, I've been thinking of getting myself a SB(Manticore) ship so the Raven is preferable there too because both ship use missiles then.

I've been thinking about this for some time now and I can't decide. I got a little bit more skill for caldari and missiles. But still my projectile skills are decent.

I want you opinion when it comes to performance. And if it is worth those extra months of training for the Maelstrom.

Thanks.

I would advise you to go for a Raven due to being able to specialise in its weapon systems without having to train all the small and medium guns.

Also it will lead you to the Golem which is, hands down, the best missioning ship IMO.

Ive done a fair bit of reading on this myself, and so far as i can tell, the caldari have THE goto ships for PVE. the Raven itself does a absolute ton of damage, and as was said above, it leads to the Golem, which so far as i can tell is one of two ships (tengu being the other one) that ive seen people debate about being the best lvl 4 mission runner.

now for your particular case, id go with the raven. much shorter training time and the money increase from lvl 3 to lvl 4 is pretty big. and as you said it actually helps with the stealth bomber cause you can train torps, which are also useful on your raven.

the performance difference wont be much, maybe slightly in favor of the raven as its MUCH easier to use missiles, as they will always hit a target that in range, and always the same damage on a given target.

If you are talking pure mission running I think the raven probably would suit you better. The maelstrom is an excellent mission runner, but missiles are usually the easier option.

If pvp is a goal then the minmatar battleships would be a better option. The scorpion is very useful, but I cant remember the last time I saw a raven or a rokh in fleets. The minnie battleships however are all very popular and each fills a useful niche.

The scorpion for EWAR is an absolute blast, I flew one myself last night. If you're going to PvP, then I would advise you to go after the Maelstrom. However, if you're after the maximum isk efficiency per hour, then the Raven would be preferable. I recently got my cruise missile skill to V and got the specialization skill to III/IV, it has really helped my dps. I make something like 20-30m an hour (I do salvage on an alt), which is enough to cover my PvP needs.

Raven would yield a better rate of isk income, as well as saving you 80 days of skill training.

Okay, that's everything I need. Thanks alot.

My long-term goal is to get a few solo pvp kill and then join a PvP corp. And I tought if I do lv4 missions with Raven, I will be able to use SB for the cloaky part. And an AF(Wolf/Jaguar) for some solo action as I will make a few mil ISK a day.

Thanks alot!

This may be a bit of a shameless self plug. But I wouldn't suggest it if it wouldn't be helpful. Keep in mind the Kings of Kill if you're looking for a noob friendly corporation. Sub-battlecruiser ships are provided and questions are always answered, in addition to roams almost every night.

Glad you got the guidance you were looking for!
