I am looking for anyone who does T2 muarder builds to answer a question. I am soon to be able to run a paladin. Is it worth building one vs buying it. Buy building it I mean all the way down to the raw moon goo and purchase of a decent bpc at 0 or -1. Or do I just buy the dank thing? At the same time would it be worth the time to train the skills?

1. There are no ME 0 Marauder BPCs
2. Setting up a POS chain for reacting 'raw moon goo' into advanced materials just to build one ship is a bit ... uhm ... exaggerating!?!
3. Check your production skills and see if you can buy the final components for the BPC and compare it to market price. Then you have your answer.

even going from the reaction results is prohibative just for making 1 ship, as you will need to research up the t2 component bpo's (not expensive but needs skills and time)

there are some fairly hefty skill needs for building the ship, and the parts

the saving you would get for this would likely be about 10%, which after buying all the bpo's etc would likely be more like 5%

so generally its not really worth the hassle.

Even if you buy only the components and other required stuff, you have to obtain the bpc which likely will be expensive on contracts. Assuming you already have the skills (training them for only this purpose would be crazy).

According to
http://eveproductionmixer.appspot.com

Build cost with BUYING the components/ship: 734,999,999.98. Don't know the exact Jita price now but according to eve-central you are better of buying the Paladin direct from the market.

One other thing to note that if you want to invent the T2 BPC yourself, you could have a bad invention run (even with max skills) which will bring up total costs significantly.

Just leave it to the pro's and use your time more efficiently.

If you are going to build T2 ships even frigate size you need to look at building in volume. either build several to replace the ones that get popped or keep 1-2 and sell the rest to recover some of your costs. to only build one, if you do not have maxed skills, even if you make everything right down to mining the moon goo, the mats you consume will be worth more than the ship would cost to buy.

Materials are never free, if you can sell the mats for more than it would cost you to buy the ship then you are further ahead to only take it to whatever level gives you the highest profit from the mats then sell them, buy the ship, and pocket the difference. Without maxed skills, almost everything in game costs more to build than buy. Only with maxed skills can you manage a profit.

Unless you have maxed skills, and are already set up with a POS for moon goo extraction, reactions, T2 component building, and T2 ship production, Which I believe would require at least 2 POSes(huge fuel bill to consider) it is not worth it to build any less than 20 ships. The setup and fuel costs will be more than your profit, even with maxed skills.

I can build almost everything, yet I rarely build anything for myself and instead buy everything. For me, the convenience easily outweighs saving a few ISK.

You forgot to mention, that everything is better with maxed skills!

LOL. well repetition for emphasis.

Far to many player in this game try to build stuff with manufacturing skills only to lvl 4 and others fail to consider the fuel costs of the POS when calculating how much they have into a ship. This leads to the player with level 4 skills needing sometimes 20-30% more isk worth of mats than the ship can be bought for on the market.

Did I mention you NEED max skills to make isk off manufacturing?

Classic economics- Pick one thing that's profitable and specialize in it. If you're going to build mauraders, ****ing build mauraders and sell them for ISK. Do your homework, learn the markets, figure out where you'll get your blueprints and materials, and how much you stand to make from the operation. Don't build the base item if its market price is close to its material cost. Don't waste time mining your own POS fuel when you've got production lines sitting idle.

You'll end up better off in the end than if you tried to do a little bit of everything.

No, it isn't. There is no question here. You're buying.

I would gladly increase my prices to match the cost of him building it himself.
