Hi guys, i'm still a big noobie at EVE and i'm starting to look for a more meaningful corporation to join than the NPC corp I started with. I started playing a few months ago and got strait into planetary interaction, both because it was new and because I thought the idea was really cool. I'm still really thrilled with PI on the whole, but i'm now branching into other things with my PI skills at lvl 5 and my support skills coming along nicely.

My main question is: where do I fit into an active player corporation. I see most corps want a player who can pvp with them or mine in a hulk, but i'm something of an oddball doing my planetary stuff. Are there non-advertised positions in most corps for a PI focused new player like myself?

POS fueler? I guess that's about it. Confused

Sounds like fun, actually. How many stations could I keep online all by myself?!

But that would be hella responsibility, not sure I can take that atm. hmmmm

Also, i was thinking about training up for a dreadnaught next so I can bombard DUST players attacking my planetary structures. Is this a good plan or are there other ships I might need to keep my planets safe?

Since most players have PI trained on their pilots, I'd say you're redundant before you get hired.

Best option: biomass that char and start over with more useful skills.

If you find a corp with multiple pos and/or does a fair bit of manufacturing then you could always be useful by providing them with the useful pi based materials at a little under market cost. Or you could simple view it as a useful source of secondary income as you move on to explore other things to do :)

That or providing T2 components for production.
I run 5 moons, 4 for POS fuel in 0.0 and one for T2 components and would need alts to keep our POSs up. I *think* I'd be able to run one POS on PI stuff by myself if I dropped the T2 planet.

But you need ice products as well. Not only PI stuff.

EDIT: Dear Kaars suggestions value is hinted at by the corp name - not surpringly in that alliance Razz

Hi. I just wanted to let you know you now have an alt and may stop training it.

Sounds like you got supplemental income coming in.
Use it on your new, useful character.

Good feedback all around!

I also spoke with a recruiter for an Inrepid Crossing corporation today and they said "we'll take anyone, lol." So it looks like I have no worries about getting in. Very Happy

This is the worst possible advice, but the advice fits in with your corp name.

Wrong. It is a sand box game that revolves around starships.

You're an isk maker. Either look to keep making isk and invest in the corp future or use the isk to buy other things you like and work into those as well. PI doesn't take many skills at all so you're bound to be looking at other skills soon.

Maybe a jump Freighter to move your fuel and assist the corp in moves. Maybe get into combat.

With you corp it really depends on how involved they want players to be. if they're very open then the sky's the limit. Become the PI expert and help others set stuff up.

You've got a nice semi-passive income coming into your wallet, so start spreading out into other areas, you may want to look into training some manufacturing and trade skills to round out this particular character. You could also consider training towards a freighter - freighter pilots are welcome by many corps, especially those who are sick and tired of hauling stuff around themselves all the time Very Happy

I would suggest also considering training some moderate pve/pvp skills, too, so you have ships to buy with all the iskies you are making - then blow up ships or get blown up so you contribute to the market Rolling Eyes

By expanding on the existing skill base (into manufacturing and/or trade), you'll expand your isk making possibilities. By spreading into other areas, whether it be missions or pvp, you'll expand your FUN possibilities. There is no need to totally limit yourself to *just* PI, and most assuredly, don't biomass that character!

While it is true many corporations are looking for particular skill sets in their new recruits, just as many corporations are looking for a attitudes and personalities that blend in well with their existing members, people who have a good attitude and never forget that ultimately, this is a game and it's supposed to be FUN!!, are going to be attractive to many corporations regardless of your skill set. I'd suggest looking for corps like that Smile
