I am looking for some 'communication' from CCP (remember that thing you guys realised that you should be better at after the Incarna riots)...

I am looking for a reason to embrace WIS. As it stands, it's usless. I'm sorry but it is. Its only purpose is a replacement for the station UI. And it fails at that.

The only info I can find about future plans is the Minutes of the CSM Meeting, which state that the Winter focus on WIS will be 'Establishments'.

I have one question -

Will the Winter Expansion release full Walking in Station, with a multi-player environment?

Thank you for your time, and 'hopefuly' your answer to my question.

Sorry im not CCP but yea the plan from the soundwave two hour interview with CCP tallest said the door will open and the other three races quarters should happen. They probably can't put it in writing for legal reasons. I too wish they had a better forum community liason.

If that isn't what you wanted to hear please contract your stuff to me.

That still does not say that we are going to have a working multiplayer station environment!

Which is what's needed if they want the majority of players to accept WIS as part of the Eve universe.

I agree! I would love to hear any confirmation about that myself as well!

Right now Incarna has been the worst and most underwelming expansion to EVE ever!

What made me excited about Incarna was a full multiplayer environment! Not a prison cell with a clunky slow moving avatar! /shrug

Please dont let this fall off the page....

Is it too much to ask to be given some idea of what we can expect in the coming 6 months?

I suspect that the winter expansion will be largely focused on CQ, and thats fine if you like CQ

I would like to know if thiers going to be anything in the pipeline for chars in 0.0 , null sec and WH space as CQ has very limited appeal to us and it would be nice to know what we can expect

Hey, get inline behind all the other features that need love! But as far as I know, the winter expansion will have the player establishments (multi-user content).

According to the key note speach at this years fanfest the ability to have 100's of characters on screen and interacting will take 4 or 5 years.

From what I read, it appears that there are some changes to 0.0, including the intriguing changes to 'Local'...

Yeah, I agree that many other things need updating, but I think its fairly obvious that CCPs direction seems to be firmly heading towards WIS at the moment.
I know they have stated 'Establishments', however I want to hear it from them about what this actualy means. I am worried that they still won't have the multiplayer areas ready and these 'Establishments' are visited through our TV screens.

This is why I am asking for some 'Communication' from CCP.

One of the man things thal I can make out is that Establishments are a big part of the new smuggling update. It seems that players will be able to police the smugglers somehow, and there will be an update to boosters and other contraband.

You may well get your wish!

I don't think it will be true smuggling. Players will be able to produce Boosters and sell them via some sort of illegitimate trade to another player in the same station.

Eve already had Hi Sec smuggling ships (Orca) but they were nerfed. Crying or Very sad

If you could sell your illicit drugs at walmart it really wouldnt be smuggling.

I think it was soundwave that described it at fanfest, not positive. Its a team BFF endeavor for sure.

Anyway, the players will have control of the scanning, not the NPC's. If you get caught, the player who scans you and finds the contraband will be able to ask you to pay a fine. If you do not pay the fine you will be flagged for combat.

Once you get to the station you will not be able to sell contraband on the market, you will have to meet a player on the station somewhere to trade the dope for cash.

in recent interviews with soundwave. the winter expansion is going to focus mainly on balance and 0.0 and low sec boosts. IE they are going to focus on the game.

That is good news DJ, I hope they do spend time on spaceship issues.

However, I still want to know -

What is the timeline for multiplayer station environments???

I am not against WIS, I think when its fully realized it will improved the game in a huge way. What I am against is the current 'room', which is nothing more than a glorified UI. Flogging people clothes in the NEX store so that they can enjoy them, quote, "in the privacy of their own quarters".

Its a fairly simple question, I would think CCP would want people to know whats coming, they are Hemorrhaging subscriptions at the moment, pretty much due to Incarna. Give the players some information and more would stick around!

And more importantly, why do we have CQ if there's no multiplayer content. That makes it completely useless and a waste of investment. It has to be related to something.

Oh wait I get it! It's another unfinished product, just like drugs, FW, incursions, etc. That makes sense, CCP will just keep adding and working on it, just like they did (NOT) on sov, capitals, supercapitals, mining, epic mission arcs, etc..

The game is great without having to ever be worked on or drop finished products, just add new content CCP to distract us and we might not see the real problems. Maybe. Razz

And even more importantly, why do you complain about an incomplete feature. I can appreciate Incarna as what it is. The basic platform on which a lot of content can build on. Before the multiplayer options can be created, the tech foundation has to be integrated into EVE and CCP seems to prefer introducing new features in smaller steps, instead of holding it back until all features are ready.

At the moment there is not much to do, except giving feedback about camera controls, character movement, graphic options etc. and CCP is already listening and provided some improvements, for example the lighting in the CQ.

Yes, there is not much to do from a pure gameplay point of view, but I see the CQ not as a complete feature but rather as a tech demo and as such it is already quite impressive.ugh

If CQ was a portal for PC users in eve to move between Dust's enviroment I can see it being a important feature as is its pretty useless as CCP have opted to limit dust to playstation.

Negating the need to have a bridge between the two.

Where was the complaint? I just point out it's useless, as it is.

* Releasing incomplete features is fine. This is no feature tho, it does nothing and it has nothing following it "soon". So it is, by the very definition, nothing. If CCP had planned to release multiplayer content to follow it within a few weeks, or in worse case, months, then it would've made sense. There's no such thing.

* Releasing something that is nothing, and also making that thing have memory leaks, crashes and bugs that does not work on hardware that functioned just hours earlier, is quite gamebreaking. (I'm personally not affected mind you, just asking what the logic is here?). What is that value, when it added nothing? To grief customers?

* Feedback. I am one of those who did test CQ in it's very first test version on Duality, for what it's worth. I've posted feedback, in particular on the stuff you mention, like camera control and character movement. Again no complaints, just confirming that CCP did not listen (or care) about the feedback we gave them back then.

So in your words, we had a whole expansion dedicated to a "tech demo" that is incomplete, and will be for an unknown amount of time. There's not even an ETA on when we will get multiplayer interaction, so in that sense, we need a whole new (!) expansion dedicated just to finish up the expansion we had now.

Out of curiosity, since this is not a "complete feature", and it's supposed to be completed when we get.. well whatever you are considering (I guess multiplayer features, like the rest of us), then you do realise it might not even come this winter right. So basicly this single expansion, is taking up at the very least two expansion "slots", and while waiting for it to actually be meaningful it just breaks the game for alot of players?

A question for you -
Wouldn't it been better for CCP to release, you know uhm, some actual content.. and finish this product, before releasing it? Or is this game still in beta, in your eyes? Thanks for enlightening me.

Please, don't distract CCP team from development of WoD and Dust with your questions:

if they fail miserably sooner - CCP will realize they cannot step into the same river twice and focus on development of EVE - again;

if they will be masterpiece MMOs - you will be able to purchase and play Dust/WoD and forget about EVE.

There's a few ways to look at the Incarna rollout to determine a timeline.

Looking at the development of WiS in all of it's incarnations would give you an unreasonable time line. From 2007 to 2011, that's 4 years. So, 4 years gave us one CQ. Subtract 3 years for tech development and keep 1 year for artistic rendering then you might be able to conclude 4 CQ's will take 4 years

Or you can believe CCP when they say that they started developing WiS in its current incarnation at the beginning of this year and then deployed it in June. That's 5 months. Subtract 4 months for tech development and keep 1 month for artistic rendering and we should have the other 4 CQ's by winter expansion.

And finally, another way to look at it is, if CCP wasn't still concerned that they can pull this off in all the glory of the expectations that they've built or that they had intention to do so, wouldn't they tell us a ballpark guesstimate of when they would have all the CQ's including multiplayer interactions? Keeping the customers in complete darkness while they've effectively been put in a closet in the current rendition of the CQ is a good indication that either they've no idea when because they've no idea how exactly to pull this off or that Eve is purely being used as an alpha testing system for technology development for their other products having little intention of completely fulfilling expectations.

To give a time line of 4 - 5 years isn't exactly reasonable when the average life of a game in < 2 years and when in that time the gaming industry can see huge leaps in technologies making current efforts obsolete and for naught. So, I wouldn't hold my breath that we'll ever see a fully functional WiS multiplayer environment.
