Be thankful someone nice handed you 300 mil to replace your beloved HULK. Go buy one, and store it for a week or 2. Try something else, like scouting, for example. Study your neighbors. Always watch your Local.

I watch my local. I also watch battleclinic for gankers and gather intel. I don't mine when pirates are around. I don't AFK, EVER. I AFK in a station. Do a search on kills on battle clinic for the the 10 closest systems to your usual spot. See who died and how. Study the killers. Do that for a few weeks, and you'll know when to fly to the station. I do a constellation sweep every week. Who moves in, who travels where. I mapped out my entire region and how to get away from people, should I be caught in a bind. I am very paranoid. I also made a Giant Secure Can grid to mine into, that way my ore is safe, and I'm almost always moving from can to can at top speed while mining; therefore, warping out is a breeze.

Think about things like that. And you'll never get ganked again.

I lost a 250 mill Hulk to a guy in a 1 mill Trasher. So, how is this supposed to be fun for me? I am supposed to pay $15 a month so someone and just come along and destory my ship, I worked very hard for, and now I have nothing? The Insurance is a joke on a Hulk, and no matter how good my skills are I can't toughen it up to last against high sec gankers, and now I have nothing? This is supposed to be fun for me? For $15 a month. So, now I am out my $15, and I have nothing in game... and the fun element is where?

You have 9 kills there Mr Pink. HTFU or GTFO.

People sure are hostile on the boards. However, why people are so opposed to mining in general? I think doing the same missions over and over is dumb, and PvP is like watching my kids take turns pushing each other off the bed.

Is it the act of mining that ****es people off, or that it takes 6 on one to be able to mess with a miner? I had not realized there were that many on the kill at the time, the in game mail only lists the one. Also, the offer of 300mill was nice gesture, but when I checked had not been sent.

I'm just not sure I understand why the people who want to PvP feel the need to mess with people who do not want to, and why CCP lets them. Just dose not make sense.

That's just GIGO in effect.

They're not (beyond the preconception that miners as a group are largely a bunch of botters) — they're opposed to people who think that they can or should be cut off from the rest of the game.

Because a 250M kill looks good on your killboard.

God, sometimes I hate the eve community.

Yeah, OP, I'd talk to CCP about it, file a petition or something of the like. Attacking another ship in hisec is even against the UELA, for which Concord works. It's supposed to be safe space where we have a fallback to, save corp wars / militia. hisec Suicide ganks are the lowest of the low and we shouldn't have to deal with the griefing antics of some mentally instable players in this game.

I subbed in 2007 and have never been killed in hi-sec. Ever. I'm hardly lying, and your argument is pathetic and sadistic, as is most of this particular eve community's dogmatic "the world is cruel" mentality.

The issue with your perspective is you believe all players should see the game as you do. You have this incredibly selfish and idiotic idea that everyone who plays eve should have to play it the same way. This game allows for so many different styles and approaches, however you push your sadistic "tough luck" and "never safe" mentality of low/nullsec playstyles into carebear industrial and trade characters. Guess what? They're better off without your crap, and hi-sec is designed to keep them from having to deal with it. The exploitation of suicide ganking is a menace.

Oh no, minus an infinity points, bummer. Rolling Eyes

It's a game son, a game where you can be killed anywhere provided you are not docked.

16 - You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules.

Pretty sure suicide ganking is a violation, and I'd appreciate an official response from a CCP authority on this one in order to clarify their stance on suicide ganking.

Incorrect.

You were saying that “Attacking another ship in hisec is even against the UELA”, which is false.
You were saying that “Concord works [for the EULA]”, which is false.
You were saying that “[Highsec is] supposed to be safe space where we have a fallback to”, which is false.

So you are, indeed, lying. If you don't know that you're lying, then that's quite possibly even worse.
Quote:
The issue with your perspective is you believe all players should see the game as you do.
No, the issue with my perspective is that it's the truth. Attacks in highsec are allowed; CONCORD does not work for the EULA — they're just there to make sure aggression costs; and highsec is not supposed to be safe.

Quote:
This game allows for so many different styles and approaches
Yes, but none of those styles or approaches change the basic mechanics or rules of the game.
Quote:
They're better off without your crap, and hi-sec is designed to keep them from having to deal with it.
Incorrect. Highsec is simply designed as a place where aggression costs, whether it be in terms of ISK (wardecs) or in terms of items (ship loss due to suicide).
Quote:
The exploitation of suicide ganking is a menace.
Interesting choice of words. I hope you're not implying yet another falsehood: that suicide ganks are somehow exploits…?
Quote:
You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules.
Funny thing that: ganks are entirely in accordance with the rules. In fact, CONCORD exists because it's allowed. Oh, and ganks do not interfere with anyone's ability to enjoy the game — you'll have to go into some pretty heavy harassment territory or hacking their client to do that.
Quote:
Pretty sure suicide ganking is a violation, and I'd appreciate an official response from a CCP authority on this one in order to clarify their stance on suicide ganking.
Their stance is pretty clear: it's allowed. If you want it in writing, I suggest you raise a petition.

Suicide ganking is a perfectly legitimate act. There are in-game mechanics that punish players who suicide gank, such as CONCORD responding and destroying the aggressor's ship and an inevitable loss of security status for the aggressor.

Since suicide ganking is within the rules of the game, it is in no violation of the EULA to commit such an act on another player. CCP won't save you here.

Funny stuff. This slap on the wrist appears to be no punishment or deterrent at all. The ships used are dirt cheap to replace and a little bit of grinding will get your sec. status back.Rolling Eyes

As for the OP:

Damage received: 5341

Sweet Mother Mary o' Joseph, the baby orphans and the wee donkey! That's what you call the ultimate 'I-want-to-throw-my-Hulk-away' fit. Fit it properly and they'd need a blob of 20+ Thrashers to pop your Hulk.

As in real life, EVE wouldn't be half as fun without a hatful of a-holes to outsmart. So have a think about some of the many counter-terrorism strategies you could employ. Wink

This is from the old CCP players guide support section... The whole thing has been re-organized since then, but just tossing this into the mix for some perspective.

Kamikaze attacks

Despite the lack of absolute safety, empire space is still relatively safe. The biggest threat to the average player in Empire space is the risk of kamikaze attacks when carrying a cargo of noteworthy value. Just like on modern day earth, the risk of attack rises with the amount of money sticking out of your pockets. If attacking you becomes a lucrative enough option, the best of neighborhoods may become unsafe for you to walk around in.

Some players are willing to lose ships and their good standing with Concord for the hope of quick profit from a juicy loot drop. The kamikaze attackers usually work in pairs or groups. They scan the cargo holds of bypassing pilots flying easily destructible ships until they see something worthy of a ship loss. They then blow up the ship and and while Concord do what they do best. A second character picks up the loot from the ships wreck.

This is not seen as an exploit of the intended game mechanics and there is no compensation or reimbursement to be had for losses caused by attacks in secure space.

Oh this has been soooo good to read. The number of replies and the attitudes reflect the game for sure...while I understand the op's frustration I found myself chuckling a bit...anyone in this game that can fly a julk with t2 lasers should know better. Anyone even contemplating giving this guy some ISK should seriously think of his actions. The OP should refuse to accept such charity...but he won't.

EVE si a great game because of these kinds of activities and the emotions they cause...thx for passing my morning mining time by hope my Hulk ain't ganked!!

Not believing that one single thrasher could kill a hulk I decided to look on eve kill and pull up the kill mail. In fact, it was not one thrasher, but was six. Six is definitely doable. Have ganked hulks with as few as five thrashers in the past.

You need to put in 2 invuln2's and dc2 in addition to your shield expander 2. Plus a couple shield rigs would help too.
I've survived a suicide gank in a hulk during hulkageddon with that, and they didnt even break shields. So, good luck, fly safe.

It is the way the game is designed. They could have made it so you can't activate your weapons in hisec on a player but they didn't, they could make concorde instant but they didn't. etc etc.

I feel it increases realism, sure there are places with little crime and lots of police but you can never stop criminals 100%.
