EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 client update #4 will be deployed Thursday July 21, during our daily downtime. This release resolved a Mac only icon rendering issue where turret icons would cease to render, resulting in the scrollbar UI becoming inoperable. For full details of this release please check the patch notes.

Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:

  • Description of problem, the more verbal the better

  • Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)

  • OS version

  • Step by step guide to what causes the issue

  • Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

Frequent client crashing still a major issue for many Mac users. I get a debug error most of the time, and sometimes when it crashes, after the debug error it flashes a popup that the buffer has been overrun. Other times the client will simply disappear and restart itself, sending me back to the log in screen. Sometimes when I log back in, my session clearly has not changed as modules will be running etc, other times it will be as if I've just logged in.

Macbook Pro - 10.6.8 - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53ghz - 4gb DDR3 ram - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

There is no pattern to the disconnects. They happen sometimes with one client running, sometimes with two, sometimes three. Sometimes there are days between disconnects, sometimes minutes. Sometimes I'm in a heavily populated system (ie Jita), sometimes I'm in an empty wh.

Thus far, nothing has fixed the problem. Hard comp restarts, modem resets, router resets... Nothing.

HELP!

YES! YES! YES! ALL of this. Consistent crashing at any time in all of the ways described above. I am trying the same things (hard restarts, modem resets, etc) and nothing works. Bug report was not filtered. Are CCP devs working on these issues? Is there even acknowledgement that they exist?

I can confirm we are looking into the random crashes but have been unable to get a solid reproduction yet.

same here. i did notice that if i turn off "Station Environments" it fixes things and there are little to no crashes. i don't want this to be a permanent fix though! i like walking in stations! Laughing

On launching EVE, I am presented with a dialog stating that there is a client update available.

I choose to install the update. The progress bar will variously get to 0%, 2%, 7%, 10%, 25%, 17%, etc before I am told "Client update failed: Unable to install the client update".

I can repeat the attempt by using the ESC menu -> General Options -> Install

The delay between pressing the "Install" button and receiving the "Client update failed" dialog is not consistent. The speed of downloading is not consistent. Sometimes the download fails before it even starts (clicking "Install" leads directly to display of the "Client update failed" dialog).

This happens on both my 17" iMac Core 2 Duo 2GHz with Radeon X1600, and my 11" MacBook Air with nVidia GeForce 320M 256MB.

No workaround as yet, still trying to get that update to install.

Ha ha... now I'm getting cranky when the download gets past 10%, 'cos I know it's just going to fail anyway, why is it wasting my time?

    ESC, ESC, Click, wait.

    ESC, ESC, Click, wait.

Thankfully I'm in a good mood. This is almost as entertaining as Bejewelled Blitz.

I tried loading the update from the character selection screen. It got to 80% before dying the first time, worked just fine the second time. So apparently something about the heavy GPU load on the login screen is causing problems with the code that downloads stuff.

    No popup when logging in

Went to general settings and it said I had an update
    Chose "install"
    Said update failed to load
Then said I had an out date client update
    Forced me to restart client
Logged back in and it says I have a client update again.
    Update failed again
    Still no Turret BPO's

Ok, seems it didn't like client update #3. Clean install from a thumb drive (Seems ridiculous to have to carry around a thumb drive with a clean install) then update #4 showed up as a pop up when logging in.

    BPO and BPC are there.

Will there be a dev log or announcement concerning remuneration?

These are actually old issues, been bug reported, but continue to persist. For months.

    1) The error message "You were logged out of audio chat" pops up anywhere from seconds to an hour after logging in. Once it does you cannot use voice coms in Eve. It pops up both if you are using coms or not. It pops up with both wifi connections or ethernet connections. See bug report 114881.

    2) NPC stations in missions sometimes have odd colors, like all red. See bug report 99612, filed 11 months ago.

    Computer and OS

MacBook Pro6.1, Intel Core i7 with 8 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512 MB.

    OSX 10.6.7

    Reproduction:
    1) To reproduce the audio chat bug nothing seems to be needed other than logging in and waiting. If you get distracted and miss the message you can tell it happened as you will no longer be able to join voice on any channel and will lose it on all channels you did have up.

    2) Set shader to high and do missions. It happens in several of them.

    Workarounds:
    1) Use an out of game voice system, or: For the in game voice, go to the ESC menu, turn off eve voice, wait a second, then turn it on. This usually allows you to rejoin voice, until the bug hits again. If this does not allow you to rejoin voice, re-booting the computer is needed. Restarting the client is insufficient.

    2) Set the shader to low and play with a less than beautiful Eve.

I also get this : "You were logged out of audio chat". It happens at random intervals when playing the game.

    Description of problem:

FPS get down when arriving at a gate and entering warp. This has not happened prior to this patch. FPS go down considerably making the ship "stutter" on approach to a gate.
It is not brackets or other ships, as it is the same stutter if I fly completely alone or in a fleet of 100 ships. (I have zero problems in a fleet fight with 200vs200 even with brackets and effects enabled!)
Also the stutter is the same, if I run 1 or 3 clients (using the copy Eve version, so each client is their own instance)

Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
    iMac 2011 (newest model)
    i7 Sandy Bridge CPU
    ATI 6970 2 GB
    16 GB RAM
    1 TB HDD
    G15 keyboard, Magic Mouse

    OS version
    Lion, latest patchlevel

Step by step guide to what causes the issue
Just enter warp or warp to a gate. This does not happen when exiting warp at a station (which I guess is more to render) or arriving at POS or fleet saves.
CPU when this happens shows 7-13% when running 1 Client and 13-19% when running 3 clients. None of the cores is at 100%, all look evenly used.
GPU shows about 60-70% usage no matter how many clients I run, but I cannot debug what the GPU is doing, do not have the tools installed.

Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you
None. However the game is still playable, but it is very annoying to have stuttering images on such a powerful machine.

    Late 2010 MacBook Pro
    Intel 2.8GHz i7
    8GB Ram
    Nvidia 330M

I would like to reiterate that this only has started happening since incarna ugh

    !?!?!?!?!?!

How can you possibly be having problems reproducing these issues? Does CCP own a SINGLE Mac to run tests on? These issues happen consistently for hundreds of people and it really ruins the game experience when you know for a fact that at least a few times a day your client is going to crash, regardless of what you are doing in game.

For each one having issues, how many are not?
I haven't experienced any issues, and Eve has been running 2 clients great for me.
    2011 iMac 3.4 i7 16gb RAM 10.6.8 (2 clients High GFX settings)
    2010 MBP 2.66 i7 8gb RAM 10.6.8 (2 clients low GFX settings)
    2006 iMac 2.4 C2D 6gb RAM 10.6.8 (2 Clients 1 medium 1 low GFX settings)

I'm not saying I know what is causing people crash issue, but I think some need to look at there OS and how they came to their current version (such as upgrading over doing a clean install). Also, upgrading an OS before the user community claims it stable is a brave proposition.
