This book is worth reading, even if only for entertainment value when you're ****ed off with mining/ratting bots destroying your markets.

I haven't yet read this one, but I'm a fan of Cory's other works (reading Makers right now). I'm picking this one up and adding it to my "must read" list.

I kept trying to guess what year it was set in though, I am sure the lack of dates was completely intentional - I suppose it could be set anywhere from 10 to 25 years from now (there are little hints about it here and there), and the sequencing of the "scenes" is not always in chronologic order, there's at least one distant flashback sequence (to some time in our near future) and at least one moderate forward timeskip (near the end of it all).
A bit exaggerated and not quite accurate as far as game economies go, but not wrong enough to detract from the enjoyment you can derive reading it.
Basically, quite a nice book, if you can overlook a few oddities.
