hehe Ive been wondering about the Vindi a bit (actualy a lot) and have made a few fits for them and wondered if perhaps the hyperion would be better? Also what is the standard DPS for one of those things?
I have this fit prolly not that good but... whatever:
Solo PvP Vindi
High: 8X Neutron Blaster Cannon II loaded with Void L
Med: 2X Stasis Webifier II Heavy Cap Booster II loaded with Navy cap Booster 800 2X Warp Scrambler II
Low: 3X magnetic Field Stab II Large Armor Repairer II Damage Control II (I almost NEVER fit a ship w/o a Dmg Cont) 2X Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Rig: Large Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Large Trimark Armor Pump I
Manages a Stable Cap and a nice 89.6k EHP... not much tank but: 1569 DPS (including drones), 6114 per volley (not including drones) I could probably take one of those Mag Fields off for more tank.
Thanks for all your (future) help with my fit AND chosing between the two ships! |

Your better off using a standard Mega :P People who fly Vindi's seriously use a expensive faction/complex setup. And EFT dps ain't everything, I bet first real fight with a couple battlecruisers will turn that bling ship(with a crap setup) into a smoking wreck.
As for the Hyperion, its a niche ship, it have a few uses but they ain't many and the situations where it excel are far and between. I say its worst of the tier 3 battleships. |

First: Why do people buy hugely expensive faction BS hulls then cheap out on the fit? A couple of faction EANMs would add a useful bit of extra tank for a few mill extra. Likewise, a faction web would be an excellent investment for a web-bonused hull. If it's worth putting a FN Web on a 130 mill Huginn, surely it's worth putting one on an 800M+ Vindicator?
Second: Blaster ship needs a MWD, period. You fit that first, then work the rest of the fit around it. My tip here is a Core C-type 100MN; these are 25M or so on contract, have a very low cap penalty, and they're the easiest to fit.
Third: You've left a rig slot empty. The hybrid rig will add a trivial amount of DPS as it's stacked with the 3 MFS; I'd go with an Ambit rig instead. You might need an ACR that third rig slot to fit the MWD, but if not, an explosive resist rig or second trimark is a no-brainer. You've got the calibration to spare. |

I think you missed the point. Spending 800mil on a ship and 40 mil on fittings doesn't make sense. Nor does spending 800mil on a ship and spending 2.4BILL on fittings...
Personally I would not buy the 800mil ship to begin with. Buy 4 Megas and fit them with T2 gear instead...and as someone above me said, MWD is absolutely required.
I don't know where you are doing solo PvP...but I can guarantee that if you are doing it in a Vindi...it won't be solo PvP for more than about 5min...as suddenly 10-15 BCs and other assorted ships appear out of nowhere when you thought you were just getting into a solo fight with a Cane or a Drake... |

Agreed tbh. fixblasterskthanks. EDIT: for the OP: It's been said already, but if you're going to fly an 800mil isk ship, spent a bit more on fittings (faction webs, faction EANMS and faction damage mods especially). The M in MWD stands for mandatory, especially in a BS, and if you're really that clueless about how to use a vindi, just get a few normal megas to start with (or preferably an abaddon, since it's better in just about every way) |

I had forgotten about the Rokh. Now I vaugely remember seeing one over 2 years ago in a sniper fleet(mine unfortunatly) of 50+ when some fool brought it with him, using a setup of named missile launchers and energy neuts. Of course it was one of the first to get primary and popped and then he got smacked down a lot and forbidden to ever bring one to a fleet again With the exception of very rare pvp-videos where solo-pilot uses them with blasters, I don't believe it really have a place in EVE, except as hangar decoration. |

That's because lossmails show hit points, not effective hit points. What's that got to do with his setup? |
 RavenPaine |
Posted - 2011.07.18 23:50:00 - [ 16]
It's got everything to do with his setup. The ship tanks exactly the same as T1 Mega.
BUT:
He can't MWD anywhere. His T2 webs can't catch anything. His T2 warp scramms can't reach anything either.
So:
A nano Drake or Cane can fly at 20 KM and kill him. A torp/neut Typhoon can fly at 20 and kill him faster. A Tempest. A Geddon. Almost any other ship outside of 14 km will wear him down.
I'm not dissing the guy for trying...just trying to point out the obvious and save him a ship.

Worst problem with faction BS is the added bullet magnatisum.
If you get reported in some intel channel people will head out right away for a shiney killmail, but for a regular hyper or mega they might let it go and only turn up once you killed everyone else in your 2bil ninja sleeper mega.
Slave implant set first, use some regular megas, once you pvp a bit in it you will know where to spend the extra cash (prolly faction web first, first thing i upgrade on most pvp ships).
all that said, a shield hyper will do as much dps as a armor vindi, less than half the ehp and one slot to tackle - but also a fraction of the cost and very fun! |

I blame the "I was there" trailer. Ever since that people have flocked to any roam I took it on just so they can say "I was there". I like the 20-30 man gangs best but I'll take what I can get, even if it does mean flying with so many alpha canes I only manage to get one shot off. On the plus side people no longer say "lol why is a hype here", they say "yay its the flagship" |

Problem with flying in a gang of 20-30 even, is that it makes you think the ship you're using is good when the fleet does well. This gives you the (incorrect) idea that your ship is good, when it's really only mediocre (though the nano shield hyp is by no means bad, the fact that it isn't particularly GOOD, especially when compared to, say, an abaddon, is one of the reasons I'd like to see blasters get some love, especially when the only reason it's even decent is that it can be fit like a minmatar ship, instead of being flown like an actual blaster boat) |

On every other ship, I'd use a Federation Navy one too, but on a Vindicator, that extra 1 km range might make the difference between you webbing them and them kiting you forever. And it's not like the web strength difference is going to make any difference with the Vindicator's bonus. |

WHAT ?! A 60% basic Web turn into a 90% with the vindic. A 50% will turn at 80%. So in one case your target will get only 10% of his speed , and 20% on the other case. this is the DOUBLE. Then two 50% base webs are as effective as 1 60% one on the vindicator. |

First of all, True Sansha webbers are -55% speed, not -50%. With 2 -60% webbers on a Vindi, the target will only move at 1% speed. With 2 -55% webbers, they'll move at 3% speed. One would hope a Vindi with a MWD would be able to keep up with a target moving at 3% of their top speed. |

I dont think he was equating EHP to mean hitpoints, i figured that he meant the ship will die regardless of how many EHP he has the way he currently fitted it. |

My opinion on the vindi for what it's for.
Highs obviously blasters
Mids..... Must have mwd navy web for 90% webs! Scrambler and cap booster. Fifth mid is up to you. I really like running an eccm with a full spur set.
Lows..... ACTIVE tank. Passive is for fleets and if you are running a vindi in a fleet then no amount of armor is going to help you.
Drones.... I love running web drones on this ship. Helps you get into **** range.
