Just an idea, But what about giving the dreads a 4th gun for more dps and a 5 minute seige timer. Would make smaller alliances able to compete with super cap blobs and make the dread useful again. Right now it is just bait for a super cap.

With these changes you could leave super carriers and titans the way they are.

Dreads would need a freaking massive DPS boost to be a real threat to a supercap blob without necessitating multiple suicide dread fleets per op.

using this as a base, considering the titan is just a flying DD timer and a couple other things. maybe give the dreads 1-2 extra guns and a damage buff to bring them closer to the damage output of a supercarrier. and with this buff bring a boost in needed supplies to build a dread.
in order to prevent the current dread owners from about doubling their money in the cost of a dread, make it so the current dreads maintained their current slot layout and buffs, but have a 120% refine from the current required resources so they get some back from their dreads being outclassed now.

I don't think there's anythin you can actually do to fix balance at this point.

Not until you address the cause of the problem.

Eve started out with a vastly reduced playerbase around 1k players online the Universe felt vast and immense now its like playing in ya back garden with 30k peeps online massive alliances and gangs etc the original mechanics which haven't changed at all just weren't designed with that in mind.

Until the Universe undergoes a massive expansion that encourages smaller alliances etc and smaller fighting groups Eve is just progressing to everyone flying bigger and bigger ships in order to make any headway in fleet battles.

CCP needs to start looking and the fundementals of the game which haven't changed or improved one bit in 10 odd years.

Personally while I think the all in one universe is a good, I think they have clung onto the idea too much there would be nothing wrong with opening up new galaxies with interconnecting jump routes on different shards to allow the playerbase to spread out some.

I miss the ability to go into deepspace find a quiet spot in the boonies and setup a home there.

The universe should have undergone regular expansion as the playerbase increased, it hasn't.

Eve just can't continue to allow gangs to grow bigger and bigger all blance goes out the window till everyones flying around in planets.

a single supper is toast if it gets hit by a well organized sub cap fleet the problem with suppers today is the vast amount of them that are in use atm

1 supper can be killed with some effort the problem is that if you have 50 suppers there is almost nothing that can stop them

and a dread is no solution for that as 50 suppers can alpha a sieging dread

i have no idea how suppers can be fixed but i hope ccp has some good ideas cause i don't like the suppercap online we have today

As of now there's a massive and huge disparity between being able to balance a ship to ship basis and trying to balance a ship so it functions in a gang.

As time has gone on and they've allowed group sizes to enalrge and taken no steps to curb it the ships have had to get bigger and bigger with more HP's etc.

To the point now its simply impossible to balance, if you balance the ship one per one, ya its great for small scale pvp but useless for the blobs were all seeing now, make the ship function in gangs and its utterly uber in smaller groups.

As time has gone on and gang and corps sizes have been allowed to grow unchecked its opened a vast bottomless chasm as far as game balance is concerned, something they've simply not understood and tried to correct.

CCP has been firestomping for years now rather than improving the fundemental mechanics which haven't changed in a decade, they functioned then but utterly fail now, as they were very basic.

If something doesn't change there will come a point where Super caps will be like flying a BS is now in a large fleet fight, and it'll be deathstars ahoy.

The only way I can think its even possible is with some sort of hitpoint and dmg scaling but that'd be incredably difficult to implement.

That train left the station ages ago. Super blobs have grown to several hundred per engagement, even if you were able to do 33% more damage the Dread is one-volleyed by F.Bombers and the extra dps is easily absorbed by circle-jerking RR.

Too little and far too late.

Besides, Dreads are actually pretty damn well balanced against everything else so giving them a huge damage increase just toppling all the other dominoes.

The one thing that will make me laugh out loud for days on end would be if nothing was done to them at all but all sovereignty was moved onto small-gang/fleet warfare leaving supers as big fat good-for-nothings.

I propose those changes:

Titans -as they are right now

Moms-siege/triage modules with the role to increase drone bandwidh from 625 needed for fighters to 12500 needed for bombers and no move and no rr in that time.

Dreads-alpha strike (1-13 bullets per first shoot in siege depending of some skill) but with an sig of 1000x number of bullets so the extra dps will be effective only against supers (+/- 2 extra slots for neuts/smartbombs but those will be good against nps so for that i can say will be an no go from CCP).

Carriers- 30% more capacitor recharge rate to suit better the support role.

All those changes for dreads and carriers will have no effect of those ships against sub-capital ships and ability to run anoms better with those ships then we can do now.

The extra gun and 5 min siege timer will be use by ppl against npc so those changes will never be accepted by CCP.

Titans - Move to the old AOE Doomsday, add more logistical capabilities, make it so only 1 DD could be fired per system every 30 mins. Bull**** it something about causing the sun to supanova or some horse **** as an error message. Also make it so a titan is like having 3 dreads on the field but still have to be stuck like siege mode style.

Motherships - To launch fighter bombers they should have to activate a module which renders them unable to be remote repaired, for atleast a 5 minute cycle. This way MS can choose pewpew or defence.

Dreads - Add another 2 high slots but not a lot of power, then add a new turret class designed for shooting down fighter bombers and fighters.

Carriers - Add some more interesting types of fighters for different tasks, energy neut, jamming, warp disruption all the ewar stuff with bonus depending on race. So caldari fighters with super jamming and minmatar fighters capable of dampening dreads. Yes make it so these fighters get around the ewar rules of supers and siege.

Right now 0.0 capital warfare is far too much like hitting each other over the head with a big stick. The tactics really are limited and there shouldn't be capital battles. Capitals should add to battles alongside support ships.

My dream would be to have tactical points on big ships like carriers, so for example a squad of bombers could do a bombing run of the fighter bays and take them out. You simply have to fly within shield range etc to be able to attack without penalty. This will ensure cap fleets don't just own everything as even a fleet of rifters could cause a bad day for a carrier slowly taking out its fighter bays then its warp drive and propulsion leaving it stranded. I know its a long way off and a dream but we need more diverse tactics in EVE right now its starting to feel a bit simple.
