I think it's about high time we start a gathering and ask CCP when are we the Miners getting and Upgrade!

We have seen Supercaps, Supercap upgrades, Supercap Bombers, T3.... all the rest of the stuff that gives PvP'ers a stiffy!!

WHAT ABOUT US ? The people who spend HOURS and HOURS mining so you can have your cap ship build ???

Please tell me there is someone out there who agrees with me that it's about time that we the miners get an UPGRADE!! Give us a "capital class" mining ship that we can use in Empire. SOmething with MOAR skills we can train for and something we can DROOL over at the thought of flying one!!

Join me my VELD-brothers and sisters and help me convince CCP that there are people in this game who don't kill stuff for a living... people who work HARDER than the others to make a living in this game... PEOPLE WHO DESERVE A BETTER MINING SHIP!!!!!

I call for your supportExclamationExclamationExclamation

No support here.

Adding a mining ship better than a Hulk will increase ore yield for EVERYONE... meaning the bots scoop even more ore. This in turn increases the amount of minerals on the market... lowering the value... in the end you will probably end up making less isk/hour.

As a industrialist and miner, I couldn't disagree with you more.

No dedicated capital mining ships. Not now, not ever.

I agree with that!

The main problem I see atm with CCP is that they are not doing anything to make me as an indy WANT to stay in the game anymore.

On the pvp side of things the ships are getting BIGER, BETTER, HARDER... what was the last "upgrade we had on the Indy side ??

Another Problem (and this I think is the biggest one) is that CCP is not getting the ground rules right.

We had a game = EVE, buggy but good.
So instead of FIXING the bugs and making it GREAT... the UPGRADE it with MORE buggy things that cause even MOAR lag than what we had before....

FIX known issues 1st. Set up a Ant-bot system (like punkbuster fow example in 1st person shooters) to combate the problems we face.

A laggier station with laggier features is not making the game better for me. In Fact... now I can use less of my miners at a time making it even HARDER for me to make a living.....

Please voice your opinions here, as I would like to get a feel for what other industrials see as a solution to the fact that we are being treated as the orphans of EvE.

Also, I'm going to call bull**** on this. The reasons miners have to work so "hard" is because minerals are cheap. Minerals are cheap because there is a huge supply of minerals. There is a huge supply of minerals because there are a lot of miners. Why are there a lot of miners?

Because mining is easy money. Miners don't work "harder" - they work longer, and it's their own damn fault for doing so. Don't like it? Try working "smart" instead.

Well.. I see it this way. To really be able to make a living as a miner, you need more than just 1 miner. The more miners = the more accounts = the more plex needed to keep them active. That is what I mean.

Instead of waiting for CCP to give mining some new shinies, why not just upgrade to the newest mining macro/bot software?

(And yes, a T3 industrial type ship would be spiffy.)

Miners are the blue collar union working stiffs of Eve.

It's steady and low pay, but you'll always have a job.

Oh, and if anyone was wondering the capital mining vessel already in-game and called Orca.

GAWD!! One day.. ONE day... people might actually start to WANT to help each other or share interest instead of trying to look the the guy with the biggest *****... cause in the end that is exactly what he'll look like the BIG *****!!

If I had known all you guys wanna do is kick a fallen man in the ribs I would have never resorted to try and see more views.

But I guess some people are fine just sitting there accepting what they have while the rest of the world gets BETTER tools, BETTER ships, BETTER bonus

And 2 the Orca smart-ass... I would like something bigger, like the empire version of a Rorqual!

Guess I'll write this post off as a bad idea... pitched to the wrong crowd!

...not really. It's pretty rare that they introduce something to just be bigger/better, and when they do, it's usually noted as a mistake. More often, something is introduced to fulfill a certain role.

Mining already has dedicated T2 ships, as well as capital ships. Now you want... what? More capital ships? Bigger capital ships? To what end, exactly? Just so you can have one, regardless of whether or not its existence actually makes it harder for you to make money from mining?

Rolling Eyes

Empire mining is basically the bottom-most entry-level activity in Eve industry. Why not put your big-boy pants on and try some of the rest of the industry systems, or even just relocate out of empire?

You want CCP to help the miners out?

This is what theyre doing for you. Not making it easier to mine more minerals, theyre working to make your minerals more valuable!

Demand is demand, if you got a super mining capital vessel that ripped out an entire belt in half an hour, do you think that would increase or decrease your mineral values?

Burning the botminers who devalue your product, THAT is CCP's gift to you. If youd prefer the antibot team to switch to another mining vessel that bots themselves would then use, please say so now.

Hopefully you can then use your increased revenue to go have some fun with eve rather than staring at rocks all the time. Rolling Eyes

Actually, thats unfair since some people do genuinely enjoy mining, and whatever floats your boat I guess. There is a lot more to do in eve than mine though, and its a good thing that you can max your mining skills and then start thinking "hey, I could turn these minerals into something. I could even turn it into a ship, insure it and then go fight somebody"

Or go fly a rorqual, the endgame of mining. Its not empire useable, but then neither is a supercap.

You sound young/new to the game Mey...

TBH, a bigger ship (more tank than a hulk... not necessarily more mining yield) would be nice (T3?). The trouble is, it's really (REALLY!) easy to mine. The real thing keeping the miner's isk/hour so low is the goddamn bots (note, in empire, even without bots, isk/hour probably wouldn't be much better, if at all).

Let's say you have a maxed hulk. You're getting just shy of 3k m3/minute. You can log in and mine every day for 2 hours... for a total of 360k m3 of ore at the end of the day.

Now, that bot you're competing with can mine for 23 hours... and pulls in 4 140 000 m3 of ore per day.

let's say a particular ship takes 900k m3 of ore to build... you can build one every 3 days... that bot can build 4 PER DAY.

Giving you something that would allow you to mine 2m m3 per hour means that you're up to 4m per day (4 ships, with 400k left over) and the damn bot is up to 48m per day (53 ships per dayShocked).

The only other way to make mining more profitable is having a higher demand (i.e. more pew ships, more ships exploding, etc) for the minerals. THIS is why most miners/industrialists who have been doing it for a while are against something that simply raises the effectiveness of mining. Short term is the first pilots who get the new toy will make bank... mid-long term is that anything that is NOT the new ship is completely worthless to use, and the value of all minerals will be sent in a downward spiral very quickly.

While I don't know if I would want a capital class high sec mining ship, I will agree to two points:

1. mining needs to be changed. I find it very relaxing, but sometimes it is just plain *boring*. Somehow make it more interactive. Or something.

2. I does suck that you reach pretty much the epitome of personal mining after three months (or less). Expanding the range of tools/skills/ships in a personal mining level would be awesome, and would work well with a compelete mining revamp.

I would settle for a t3 "Hulk". A ship with "subs" designed for you have the option of max tank or max yield.

All i'm saying is... we don't get any new toys or upgrades! And if I'm wrong for feeling this way.. FINE!! Stone me!

Gimme some Grav sites in Empire! Not all of us are playing with the big boys in 0.0. Some of us are mere Empire miners who get by mining and building BC's.

Unless some1's got a spot for 4 miners.... Cool

Why not just buy minerals and build BCs?

Maybe new tools. Like for example:

1. Non-POS based deep space anchorable personal/corp platforms that freighters can access.

a. Expand this to include a bunch of different platforms sizes and types that can be customized with modules.

b. For example a "high" slot refinery modules, manufacturing or even research modules.

c. A "high" slot stealth module (not a cloak) to make it harder to scan down (Not impossible).

d. Even an add on for logistics like a mini ship hangers or repair center or even ship maintance bays.

e. Weapons modules, I would love to put a bunch of large rails and have that near a belt in lowsec.

f. A quantum wormhole generator add on. Take two of these platforms with the genertor on themm and a matched set of "entangled" keys and use to open a stable wormhole between them (standard wormhole rules apply)

3. A T2 version of Orca with a jump drive. While I am on the topic, how about a rig/module combo that adds jump drives to standard ships, I would love to have an indy 5 with a mini jump drive or a even a covert ops frigate with one.

4. More cargo container sizes with the ability to build them. I would love to see a T2 version of the GSC, instead of 3900m3, it gives you 5000m3.

5. I would love to see a different type of container, one that isn't based on the planck engine. It is mainly used for organization, call it a security cage, you can place it in normal cargo containers and it would have either a password or a access list to permit or deny access to it. It's size would expand to equal the items that it contains and make it so they are nestable, so that we can stack them.

6. Fine grained Access List based corporation hangers that allow you to select who has access to them. With the ability even include pilots not in your corp or even your alliance. That would allow for different corps collaborate more.

7. A material routing system for the corporation like how PI works. In an office there would be a drop box for mats, this system would allow the CEO/Director (whom ever has the role) to define a series of routing rules that could be used to split up mats from the miners and place them into different station warehouse and so on... maybe even used to auto create corrier contracts.

8. Office addons.. Allow corporations that are renting offices to install addon for their office that would for example give an refinery for the corporation that maybe doesn't exist in the station or cloning or even manufacuring and research lines. Make it so that you can open it to the corp/alliance/public for a fee.. Over time, the NPC manufacturing and research lines can be reduced and the players can provide those services. That would help the economy big time.

9. Custom corporation/alliance market interface that allow you to say, based on an access list or standing who may purchase from it.

Just a few thoughts that would make life easier.

As an industrialist. no I don't think miners deserve new tools. it sounds to me that you are bored with what you have available and that problem sir is with you.

I do think there needs to be some more fixes and agree with most the people who have posted that ccp is creating more problems in the long run than they are solving or able to solve at this point.

Mining is easy, I do it because in high sec i can mine AFK and not worry much.
The thrill for me comes on the rare occasion my corp gets together to clear out a belt in an hour.
The only thing i can think that would be cool would be a ship that had the ability to refine ore on the fly, it would save on cargo and help with efficiency although not needed it would be cool to have.

How bout we compromise from your original post.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make mining more interesting like maybe an asteroids minigame when you activate you laser or something. at least im trying... what you got?

only if it was low sec/0.0, NOT empire
only if it got a bonus to LOW ENDS(mines veld/scord faster than a hulk with 2 upgrades and a booster, but ABCs are lower than a retriever)

I would be happy if ccp would overhaul S&I interface. 11 clicks to launch invention job remotely, come on ccp PI was fixed fast when it was clicketi fest.

Also would like to receive complimentary mouse from ccp as compensation from all those mouses i have destroyed becouse BAD S&I interface.

And maybe T3 Construction ship, as in ship hull that you can refit to specifix industrial purpose? Mini refinery? No problem. POS structure assembly lines? Just refit it. Maybe ORE could put their desgn teams for it and use orca as base of it... Srt of mobile industry base. Slow, very slow, but better then nothing.

This.

Make mining so that it actually requires you to play the game, rather than just stare at it. This does 2 things:

1. Removes the ability to AFK mine. I don't really play my mining toon much anymore, I caught the PvP bug. However, when I'm watching TV or a movie, or I'm working from home, my miner is normally logged in shooting rocks as it doesn't really require a great deal of my attention. I would imagine there are a number of people for whom this is true. Making mining more interactive would mean I wouldn't do it while my attention was elsewhere.

2. Hinders bots. Bots will still exist, but it will make things harder for them. Currently you don't need a proper botting program, you could just download some free macro maker and set something up. Might not be too efficient, but it's also free and simple. With a more complex mining system, you would get a reduction in people using automation.

Both these points do a far better thing than offering a yield increase, they reduce supply in what is already a flooded market. This pushes up prices and makes you more ISK for the time you invest.

ya, before the spiraling doom that became my divorce lead me to quit last year... I used to 'afkish' mine while watching my youngest daughter
fire up the hulk, put some ice miners on it(I know the mackinaw is better, but hulk is more tankable)
mine me some ice for my 'alt-invention corp' pos, while watching whatever disney movie she wanted to watch for the 10bazillionth time, another char would warp a hauler in every so often and it is almost free ice

the silly long times on ice make it feasable

I actually really like this idea of having basically a docking station style ancorable container that can be anchored anywhere. That a frieghter can pick up from.

As far as having modules that can be added to them I think that is becoming to much like a station. If you want to dock, research, repair, have guns, etc. build an outpost. that is what they are fro. they are expensive to prevent them from being poped up at every available location. Can't afford one POSes can do almost everything on a smaller scale and are much cheaper.

What I would prefer is for them to just make T2 POS towers that can be anchored anywhere. T2 towers would be the same as what we now have with maybe slightly better armor/shield, and can be anchored in Deep space. No need for a near by moon. They could add a restriction that they must be a minimum distance from any celestial signature(say 1 AU) so they can not be anchored in or in asteroid belts. maybe even give them less power/cpu so that you sacrifice how much you can anchor to them for the advantage of not having to anchor them near a moon.

It would be really cool especially in null to be able to anchor a POS at a deep space safe spot. They can still be scanned down but would be safer that being anchored at a moon. I think this would be a great way of bringing T2 POSes into the game. And would be a great isk sink for the larger alliances with money to burn.

this is very accurate.

Instead of stupid ideas like a capital mining ship. Just work to get rid of bots and that will make miners time more worth it then introducing any ship.

Mey, I hear what you are saying, but these people have it right. It would be fun to have new shiny. i personally would like a more tankable mining ship or an in-board refiner, but ultimately, you need to make mining more interesting or profitable for you. i would suggest trying your hand at wormhole mining. Larger profits to be made and the rush or panic when you see someone pop up on your d-scan. Wormholes were the next stage in my evolution as a miner.

New shiny stuff yes, but anything that increase mining yield, no thanks.

More minerals, lower prices. So basically that would be the same low income than now.
