See? That's how you use gallente ships, warp in point blank range!
Blasters rule!

How dare anyone say that hybrids need balance! Learn to use them first!

Just trying to understand the mechanics of that fight there. It all made sense up until everyone suddenly could warp up like that.

The FC told the fleet to burn away from the incoming fleet to open the distance so that they can warp to the fleet member (an interceptor) once he is close enough. Correct me if I'm wrong with the number; however, you can not warp to anything (fleet member included) if they are within 150km. By opining the distance and sending in the interceptors and warping to them, the FC allowed his fleet members to use their guns at their optimal.

This is a mid level tactic that FC's use when in fleet battles. ^_^

That's why I enjoy watching EVE trailers so much, aside from a few cinematic liberties everything that you see in them can be done in game.

i don't want to think about "eve is real" anymore after you used this idea to explain the price of the virtual clothes.

and btw worst trailer ever.
they are often pretty good, but this one, no.
even worse when you understand at the end it's an ad for the CQ... with only one frame of the CQ on it...

if this is what the CSMs saw and liked, then i don't have the same tastes at all.

Wow what a bunch of whiners.

Great video, enjoyed it. Think it will apeal to your target audence. I know I posted it around for people to view.

New players are a good thing.

Also within 2 days you can be in a tackle ship MWD fit and a point and do everry thing in the video, within a few weeks you can be in an inti...you complainers actually ever play this game?

Six years of EVE are 365*30/30*6/2=2895 euros. At least 50 000 unique players in game. 144 millions euros. Stop whining about CCP's Upper management. Let's buy CCP.

I understand how marketing works and you are being fairly transparent here about exploiting your player base.

On a basic level, the idea of using player experiences to promote your game is a fine one. I can think of many personal anecdotes which could be used in such a campaign. There is of course the issue of your definition of a 'reward'.

Unless you can transfer Aurum back to ISK then these token amounts of Aurum rewarded to players is utterly useless for those of us who wish to have nothing to do with the MT store. I can live with it's existence in game, mainly since there isn't exactly a lot of choice, but up until this suggestion it has been something I can ignore.

Now you are trying to unethically force your players into using it. I doubt these player rewards are going to be enough to buy even a single item from the Nex store forcing us to either sit looking at a 'reward' we cannot access, or to top up the amounts with plex. I am quite sure I am not the only person who wishes not to do so.

This smacks of forcing the playerbase into using the NEX store when they would otherwise have no interest.

Reward us in ISK, limited edition ships or anything else. Just not Aurum.

You lost me at the underlined part.

If CCP wants to reward players with MT monies then don't participate if you don't want to support MT. Simple as that.

Personally I don't see any reason to demoralize the Devs any further than they already are. Just when they were hoping to be praised by the player base for months of hard work on thousands of lines of code, They got hit in the gut with the massage that MT is bad M'kay. Which was all managements fault for lack of messaging to the community.

For better or for worse, the Devs are the gate keepers of this game (not the owners IMHO) and I think they need a simple thank you right now.

As for CCP upper management, I think they need a swift kick in the balls!!!

It's hard NOT to participate when they are going to force Aurum on me because of others actions.

I'm not RAGING and being unreasonable, just putting my point across calmly. I'd hardly say it's a kick in the balls to the devs, and you know fine well it's the Marketing / Upper management behind this promotion and not the devs.

I'm quite happy with eve, I'm not unsubbing, I'm not off on some attempt to make a threadnaught about it. I just have a low opinion of these underhand techniques used to hook people on the Nex store. The underlined bit relates to typical psychological advertising where people may feel they are being rewarded when they are actually being pushed to use a service they might otherwise have no need for.

What do I need Aurum for if I can't do anything with it but have it as an annoyance on my wallet screen?

I won't say any more on this because I actually agree the last thing CCP needs right now is more raging negativity. I don't expect everyone to agree but I don't like their 'reward' method offered here.

I know I don't have to use whatever Aurum ends up on my accounts and I will simply ignore it; I just wished to put my veiw across that it smacks of dirty business tricks. Considering the recent 'greed is good' leak, even if it IS just an internal hypothetical debate tool, putting out sly gimmicks like this so soon after is surprising. Care about it or not, don't expect everyone to be so passively coerced.

Ok, the I hope the trolls go torch themselves because this is a great idea. Just hope this doesn't impede me while I am at work. ;)

Sly Gimmicks? What about something so simple as a means to provide a living history of an entire e-civilization?

If its going to come down to semantics, I can say water is as bad as Vitoc. I NEED to have it to live but maybe I don't want it?

Point is, if you removed the FREE REWARD from this website, people would still complain about it. However more people are probably complaining because of the Aurum feature that if they don't use so what? EVERYONE is benefiting from this.

Have a problem with it? Can I has your Aurum/ISK?

You do know that AUR will eventually be tradable for ISK I hope.
The reason why its not just yet is to mitigate market influence until Aurum has been around for a sufficient amount of time.

If I have AUR on me, I'll just wait and trade it off later, nothing wrong with that. Hell if you get enough AUR, buy a shirt and sell it for ISK. In the end, It's not just a gimmick forcing you to personally indulge in the NeX and it IS a reward anyone can use.

Don't worry CCP, the pubbies in hisec are all over this. They'll post all their awesome mining ops and mission running escapades.
However, their stories do not sell your game. It's the stories of the 0.0 folk that bring in new players. It's those stories that brought me to Eve.
Guess who you've ****ed off?
Guess who you're always ****ing off?
Their stories will continue, but not on your silly 'sell our game' site.
I'd say someday you'd get the hint and start fixing some of the problems but from what I've seen you just frankly don't care. It's like you're some ADD kid who can't stay focused on one thing for more than 6 months (expansion cycle).
You don't care that things are broke cause you already have our money. As long as this is the case, the people who live the stories you sell will always be ****ed off.

If you bothered to read what I wrote in the second paragraph of my first post you would see that I think the promotion itself is a solid one. I just think it's a poor 'reward', and I acknowledge that they plan to make it tradeable 'soon'.

At any rate I hope for some interesting content from the community. The single shard shared experience really makes the events in-game worthwhile where on other games it's meaningless.

Anyone know why Australia is getting the short end of the stick, again?

Seems unfair, no EVE advertizing here, ever, no boxsets available, and now excluded from competitions.

Other than that, sounds a good idea, I hope it pays off.

To those of you guys who are complaining about EvE not being... 'actiony'... shut up. Go play CoD. Nobody cares. To me, this game is about making money. The only action is in 0 sec. Which is why I am making money to fit my ship to go to 0 sec and chill with a corp and make MORE money. This game doesn't bring you action and big battles. You have to go get them. So if you're saying 'BAWWW NO AKSHUN', get out of high sec you pansy carebear. Nobody cares about your opinion. There's nothing to do in high sec really, so what do you expect? High secs like the place little kids go to where you can't be tagged in a game of tag.
You can't experience the 'game of tag', so to speak, without getting out of the 'safezone'. So shut up before I blow my brains out. God you guys are so annoying. Stop playing the game if it's so bad in your opinion. I surely won't miss you, I don't think anyone else will either.

tl;dr Read it.

Ok, come on CCP you can do better than this. I watched the video and they guy you had acting the part might as have been holding the script in his had. He had no emotional tie to what he was talking about. His acting made me want to laugh instead of feeling excited about eve. Put the guys who made the Dust video's in charge, they at least have a chance of making a good video.

Despite the nay sayers this community driven ad idea has potential if you do it right, but if you continue down this path producing poor quality content you might as well have not even put anything out at all.
