Hey, I just started up EVE and was wondering what skills I should be aiming for. I am looking to fly fighter ships that are good in pvp and what not. From what I have heard a good starting ship for entry pvp would be a drake? I plan on eventually being group oriented doing missions and PVP in a corp. But the corp stuff would be a bit later on down the line. What skills would you guys recommend as far as missiles, engineering, ect ect. Any pointers or tips?

engineering to 5
mechanic to 5
electronics 5
drones 5
choose a tech 2 drone to 5
heavy missles to 5(or ham)
easiest way is to download evemon(google it)
choose the ship you want and it has a recommendations button.

I don't do much in the way of PVP, but as I understand it you aren't going to get very far trying to just jump right in on your own. You're going to lose ships. More initially while your skills (both SPs and your knowledge of your own ship and the ships of your enemies) are developing, but it is always a very present risk. Paying for those losses means making money, which probably requires some PVE.

I would start off looking for a PVP corp who could help get you on the right path. Some of them will pay for ship costs (or at least replacements) if you lose them in corp actions.
