Kudos to CCP for defeating the uprising and retaining the right to break your game and wreck your company's financial future. Well played, CCP.

Here are 10 reasons (in no particular order) I think we lost:

1. Lack of a coherent message by the protesters.

2. Lack of buy-in from the leadership of any large alliance or any truly charismatic/well-spoken individual capable of getting GDI buy-in (to consolidate messaging/actions.)

3. Staggered subscription expiry.

4. Skill queues and POS fuel.

5. Prisoner's dilemma. (free riders)

6. EVE's ingrained culture of trolls and fanbois (plus the ability to post anonymously.)

7. The lack of alternative engaging sandbox games.

8. CSM willing to be bought off for a few drinks.

9. Large portion of the playerbase (including Mynxee! ugh) willing to be bought off with a few almost-meaningless words.

10. CCP stall tactics and counterintelligence/war propaganda (via dev alts)

If you are not posting with your main you are a coward. least i can respect the monocle goons for the fact they are using their mains to troll.

I reserve the right to post with whatever the hell character I want. Doesn't matter, I pay for it.

NO you just don't have the fortitude to actually put yourself out there with any meaning. You are a coward.

It had nothing to do with how you being a paying anything. Not shocked and alt poster would miss the point.

You guys voted for them, or didn't (in which case you have no right to complain) then when they drop everything in real life at a moments notice to fly out to Iceland to deal with this almighty mess AND come away with exactly the answers we were looking for, you sit here and scream at them.

Perhaps you aren't aware of how the summits usually work (it's the only explanation I can come up with for the stupidity in here) where the CSM are given set dates, well ahead of time, as to when they will be needed. The CSM can then plan ahead and make sure that there is nothing conflicting with those dates and everything goes smoothly.

This time round they had a weeks notice, at most, to get their arses to Iceland. They went because that is their job, yes, but this was the equivalent of getting a phone call at 3am on your day off telling you that you HAVE to come to work. And you wonder why some of the CSM members are ****ed off? With you and with CCP.

You people need to think before you post, you make the rest of us look bad.

I'm not sure how the joke is on the customer (or the people) complaining honestly. CSM members put themselves in that position don't they? They should know what comes with the job description.

Being flown in with just a few day's notice to clear up a humongous mess is unprecedented for the CSM. Per that quote; normally those trips are planned well in advance so you have the time to clear your schedule, plan so you can take days off from work and all that. This time there wasn't so no; it doesn't come with the job description.

Only people who have no real commitments in life can simply take a few days off during the week. Normal people have to arrange for replacement at work, perhaps baby sitters, how about a job interview, your pet needs feeding and who'll let the dog out, perhaps had a funeral/wedding planned or were ill, perhaps had to go to hospital or whatever. Only idiots think you can just pack up and leave for a bit without issue on short notice.

You don't need a silly top ten list with idiotic items when there is only one reason the protest failed. It did not make any sense, just a small group of whiners complaining about nothing.

If and ever CCP introduces non fluff items in the shop, then you have a basis for whining, at present all I see is a lot of hot air with no basis in fact.

Surprise surprise, another insulting troll.

Some of us dont like CQ, we wanted it to be optional & the old hangar to remain, would have cost CCP nothing. Some of us dont want to pay real $ to dress the dolly & cyber & stuff, we want to play internet spaceships.

I'm not saying people who wanted WiS shouldn't have it, just that 100% of the paying community shouldn't be forced to use it.

Some of us find the whole concept of MT in this game beyond PLEX offensive. Is that so hard to understand?

Confirming it only takes a small amount of people to lock down the trade hubs, even the one that's on its own node. Rolling Eyes

I guess I'll be using this account on forums for the next 2 weeks. San, you have mail.

Anyhoo ...

To those who are saying that the protest was all/only about non-vanity MT (other than PLEX) and that that issue has been resolved I'd say this:

We didn't get a definitive 'no non-vanity MTs (other than PLEX) ever' we got 'no non-vanity MTs in our vanity items store unless/until we change plans'. So I disagree with your contention that the issue was addressed adequately.

Also, the statement we got was (apparently) identical to a statement that had been sent up the flagpole and sent to CSM before the summit even occurred. So CSM had no effect.

But even if you believe it was addressed adequately, and even if you don't care that the CSM had no effect, I think you're missing the point:

The point is that P2W MT (other than PLEX) was the LAST STRAW. It wasn't the only problem with EVE/CCP, far from it. All the other problems I've already listed had people dropping subs, getting discouraged, ****ing people off, etc. This one was the LAST STRAW.

When a straw breaks the camel's back, when the playerbase finally says "ENOUGH!," it is laughable to suggest that CCP's reaction of 'Oh, was that straw too much? Here, let me take that straw back and let's sing kumbaya' is sufficient.

(I don't know how many more posts I'm going to be allowed to make here, but anyway, if I disappear altogether, cheers.)

+1Cool

CCP continues to silence active critics - who are constructive, thoughtful, well informed & not abusive.
Is this how they gauge player feedback? Oh that's right, they don't care what we say only what we do now!
They certainly are not interested in any criticism - obviously.Neutral

You really are wasting your time now. Why? Because you're not listening to the other side of the argument and they're not listening to you.

Pretty much everything has been said, you can argue until you're blue in the face but it really will not make any difference what-so-ever.

Name one that was silenced that actually measures up to the way you describe them.

Player feed-back is useful, but when it's the same old thing trying to brain wash the otherside into thinking the way you do, then it is far from useful.

Constructive. Check.

Thoughtful. Check

Well-informed. Check

Not abusive. Check (okay, push me hard enough and long enough and eventually I can lose my cool, but much less so than either CCP (Zulu's dishonest and impetuous blog he later apologized for) or Mittens ("kill yourself irl" - scroll down to July 3, it's a recurring theme) or any of the other parties to this situation.)

People can use whatever character they like to post with on the forums.

Some people use alts for posting because they believe what happens on the forums should stay on the forums. A lot of petty arguments can find their way into games that start on the forums, that's not why people play games (at least most people). So it's only common sense not to use a main character.

So quit with the macho bull**** already, that's the kind of argument kids put forward.

C'mon dude, be reasonable. EVE is famous for trolls/trolling. Nothing derails a thread quicker than a room full of trolls. This issue is important. In order to keep the conversation from being derailed, asking people to please post with their mains or to face extreme suspicion if they don't is completely reasonable. I don't see how you can argue otherwise with a straight face.

All forums have trolls, it seems to be a sport for them. Even a lot of sensible posters can troll on occassions.

You don't need to know the main of the poster, you should be able to tell from the post if it has merit or not.

There's no question that they're not listening to me. Hilmar said as much (words vs actions, I'm sure you've read it, holler if you haven't and I'll try to find the link for you.)

I'd be happy to listen to anyone who posts anything constructive from the other side. All I'm hearing are ad hominems and half-truths (at best).

Why do you think?

I mean seriously & in all honesty, why do you think a character that has refused to yield to enormous trolling & abuse (none of it making much sense or based in fact), against continued reasonable, informed & valid arguments has been banned?

Looks pretty obvious to me.

But I can direct you to my (sort of) new Twitter page!

You're mad enough to make a twitter account. Glorious.

And just for your information your opinions are all wrong.

lol- again, informed, reasonable arguments & concerns that effect all players are shot down by the incredibly sophisticated trolling ALT of dubious origins stating "your opinions are all wrong".

Please, you are not dealing with naughty children here, nut up & come up with some rational, informed arguments based in fact of GTFO, you are just a pathetic troll.

Ok, so basically this is your thread and another account of yours got banned from the forums for 2 weeks. Which is why you are no longer posting on this thread with AkJon Ferguson.

So why did they ban AkJon? Just out of interest!

Why do you think?

I mean seriously & in all honesty, why do you think a character that has refused to yield to enormous trolling & abuse (none of it making much sense or based in fact), against continued reasonable, informed & valid arguments has been banned?

Looks pretty obvious to me.

Seriously? I find most of your posts if not all in this thread unconvincing.

You portray yourself as some devoted follower to the OP and hence lose any real credibility.

AkJon isn't really banned. It's all just a pathetic publicity stunt. Move along, nothing to see here.
