I've been looking through tons of sites and forums looking for how to install Eve on Linux. I currently am running Ubuntu 10.10 on an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. The problem I'm having is, looking through all the guides and instructions, they're all from '09 or around that area. I keep reading conflicting instructions in terms of what to install, what to change, and how to do certain things. Does anyone have a current, updated guide on how to get Eve working in Ubuntu? I attempted it in 10.04 before I upgraded, but it kept freezing in login, even after changing Jukebox file and removing sound.

I'm willing to change distro if that would help, or use another program like Wine, it's a fairly new computer so my entire goal right now is to run Eve. I just can't for the life of me find any instructions that aren't terribly dated, or conflicts with something said elsewhere.

We really need a EVE on Linux WIKI with instruction for all our distribution.

So information is not lost under the forum and can be updated easily.

EDIT : Installing wiki stuff on one of my dedicated servers... Twisted Evil

Would be nice, still looking for a current guide or information if anybody has it.

And while I'm here, I have an ATI graphics card, not Nvidia. Do I stand a chance of running Eve? As almost everything I've read says absolutely get one of those graphics cards.

EVE Linux wiki

I'd say, "don't reinvent the wheel...just update the wheel already there". Smile
