Zero interest in WoD (Vampires are fast falling out of vogue), and zero interest in console gaming.

Not interested in playing either.

Also as pointed out by the time WoD is completed the Vampire craze will largely be over I think. One reason I've suggested slashing its development as a cost saving mechanism for CCP

It is perfectly natural, perfectly fine and perfectly understandable for a gaming company like CCP to want to expand to other things. The community in general needs to realize this that CCP is just like any other company, no different, they want to expand to other things and they would be foolish not too. I hardly think their going to abandon EVE, their golden goose, their main source of income at this time.

So no, you shouldn't get a free ps3 and a lifetime sub because you need to wake up and realize that at the end of the day, CCP is a business and they want more than just having EVE Online in their basket. Only mistake they made, after looking at their financial situation, is to expand to quickly, they seem to be making a lot of bets on Dust and WoD, and Dust being a PS3 exclusive is really a strange thing to boot!

The only mistake? So do you people work for CCP marketing or what? You've ticked off your customers, you've ticketed off your employees, you've ticked off the press. You think you can create two hit games to cover what $30+ million in development costs? You sound like a gaming company all right. Disillusions of grandeur. Gaming companies do this all the time. Learn from history.

It's the MT dream! Customers (like me) who own Bimmiers will buy them in game for more money! That is the ticket. Why would I buy something, that I won't own, in game, when I can't trust the bank (CCP)? You lied already, you will lie again. There are a number of new EVE's coming online right now through new start-ups. This is what happens when marketing starts running a company after the founders. Note, you are not Bill Gates, you are not Steve Jobs. You are morons. I deal with people like you every day. No substance.

Your understanding of business is lacking, there may be a rebate offer for Eve players though.

You buy a Samsung TV, thus helping to pay for development of next-gen TVs .. are you entitled to get the next-gen free of charge?
You have a subscription to a newspaper, they later expand into a Gardening monthly publication .. are you entitled to a free subscription to that magazine?

White Wolf's WoD was established decades before vamps and werecreatures become a new fad.
There has been a couple of moderately successful PC-RPGs and the P&P-RPGs are pure awesome .. depends on execution though.

Wow you don't know how to take things in context do you?

Here's what I said, - Only mistake- In reference to the entire discussion about them expanding beyond one game, ie, EVE. They made, after looking at their financial situation, is to expand to quickly, they seem to be making a lot of bets on Dust and WoD, and Dust being a PS3 exclusive is really a strange thing to boot!

Don't be daft, course CCP made lots of mistakes, they made a balls of everything. Their only mistake -reference to the entire discussion about them expanding beyond one game- expand too quickly with both Dust and WoD...

Read between the lines.

We are paying a monthly subscription to play Eve. You buy a TV once.

Actually, I have dealt with this before (and I have been screwed by it). It is the same model for a software license rental agreement. You pay per month to run for example Office 2008 (it wasn't Office software in my case). Well, what if the upgrade contract for the license rental agreement ended right before Office 2011 came out? You are still stuck paying a monthly fee to run Office 2008 but you are not allowed to upgrade to Office 2011 unless you buy it outright.

Sounds a lot like Eve. We pay a monthly subscription for Eve and now we have to pay an additional fee to get the next generation upgrade. Plus, we still have to pay for Eve.

Eve is an MMO. The subscription cost is supposed to go to that MMO. If CPP wants to make another game, sure they can invest their profits in it ($5+ million per year). But, to completely stop development of Eve says we are being screwed.

We are the customer. We'll we use to be the customer. Welcome to the real world.

No but you should get banned from the forums for being irritating.

Let's follow the 'they're taking my money and using it for X argument shall we?' ...

I pay for Eve .. CCP take that money and pay their staff ... Helmar buys some pork chops ... I happen to be a vegetarian and don't like this ... I cry and cry on the forums because he's eating pork chops with MY money ....

Expanding to quickly wasn't their mistake. Taking the EVE MMO maintenance/development funds and using them to fund additional games was. They already had $5+ million in year in profits that they could have used, plus additional outside investment. Now they are raiding the chicken house and killing the golden goose.

Note to world. When a development house (CPP) makes a new game they don't fund it themselves. They get a game publisher to fund it. But, then again this is Island we are talking about. Stupid is as stupid does.

WoD is not your twinkly vamps or your cuddly sex crazed vamps of True Blood, but you can can be forgiven for thinking its just going to be the tweens that will want to play Wod. More than likely it will be 30+ roleplayers and women :P

As for other games. Its CCP's money they can do the **** they want with it, just not with our game EVE as thats what we pay to use. If they want to develop Dust and WoD good for them.

Just again for the thick and ******ed - as soon as it leaves your wallet it is not your money.

I don't think CCP could make a decent game on $5+ million, so not surprised they would dip into the development funds, but you do have a good point. Still, the fact that they decided to expand with two games is still a problem, as it creates a bigger burden on the financial side of things, which in turn will have a greater effect on EVE if they have been using the funds from EVE's maintenance/development funds, which is not something I was aware off.

WoD was a plan before the most recent vampire craze began, and I think it will be a success. Looking forward to it would be too strong a description, but I will be giving the trial a spin.

WoD is based on the same world as Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines (which still holds the record for most colons in a game title). Its not about sparkly prettyboys, its vampires from when vampires were cool and straight. The setting is gritty, bloody and dark.

Its not targeted at people who read twilight.

I hope Dust is successful so CCP can finally pay good developers a reasonable salary so that maintaining multiple games is an afterthought in terms of RL Iskies.

The topic is kind of silly, since every company uses revenue to fund new projects. CCP just made the mistake of using a limited stream of revenue to fund two projects while abandoning the existing game.

Also, I am kind of disappointed that the WoD game is simply focusing on Vampire, when WoD has more promising ideas like Mage and Hunter to offer.
