It's probably the people with really old computers who cannot run Eve any longer. Wink

It is funny how players quit BEFORE CCP made their direction official

Anyway they will be back

People who ragequit over everything new? I hope they stay gone and we get some new blood instead, wouldn't like to see CCP topple over anytime soon, altough all good things come to an end eventually ofc.

How shocking, that never happens. Rolling Eyes

Miilla you are right in that the playercount was peaking at 48-50k last week.

Todays graph show about 43-44000. So I am still holding on to my previous estimate. Oh and btw, 5000 is close to the number that has been estimated here. Which translates to about a million USD lost revenue for CCP in a year.

That is just the non-silent cancellations. ANd ones that chose to add to the list, there are lots of people that just walked and didn't give a toss.

Now, that 1m per year revenue, means 83,333.33 (infinity) per MONTH. CCP are cash liquid for 800k per month. Your 1m per year lost revenue means diddly really, well im sure it matters but not as much as you think it does. Then again, that is just the "known" cancellations.

Personally I think the rippleeffects from this entire sad affair might have a higher damage potential to CCP and EVE than those 5000 accounts. Time will tell.

I agree, we have yet to see the real damage take hold later on. ALl we have seen so far is the knee jerking effect.

The COO press release to the icelandic press really shows, what they say is not what they do.

I think this is usual patch behavior. Its kinda like global warming. All the rage pesants will say "special interest" is effecting the game in "x" way.

You know, eve-offline has a "max today" number displayed at the bottom of the page, so it's not hard.

In fact, collecting those numbers (and scraping some XML) gives you this. It's not as dramatic as -10k in pure comparative numbers, but seeing as how it's after an expansion, it probably is -10k from where it should be… but that's only if you venture into speculative territory.

I intend to update that graph for a month or so, and we'll see where it ends up…

Ive seen the numbers jump from ~23,000 to ~45,000 within minutes.

I was showing a friend the new login screen. We were joking about the numbers andhow low they are.

Reloaded after esc settings....

45,000+ logged in.....

Now *THAT* is some hardcore Corporate structure. Some corporation with 20,000+ members requiring all their members to log on simultaneously..............

Usual patch behavior doesn't usually have CCP panicking and flying a bunch of people over to Iceland for an emergency scuffle Razz

If the numbers dropped more, I'd agree with you. But they haven't, my corp is still flying, Jita is still populated, it's a case of, nothing to see here folks.

Also, if anyone hasn't noticed, it's end of financial year, and people are quite busy during this time. You people have jobs, right?

i logged on just last week at 11:30 and there were zero people online! This clearly must mean CCP have lost all their subscribers and eve is really dead, there is literally no other explanation for it possible

Yeah, no. It's not nearly as general as that. Around here, it ended just under six months ago.

True, but in the US, which is still the majority of the sub-base, it is end of the year. But really, could be a lot of things. Personally, there needs to be a 10k drop, so I can mine my bloody asteroids in peace.

Also those numbers still contain people that may leave dependant on the outcome of the meeting. I suspect that some of the subs have actually run out now but the majority might be from alt accounts because if you are thinking you could be leaving there's not much point using alt accounts even if they still have game time left on them.

Not telling, most of the roids are gone :(

Although I saw something really strange. At 12pm today, there were 0 players. Yet last week, there were 30k+

OMFG, EVE is crashing!

Does anyone really think those population numbers represent the actual amount of people logging in? serious. People really think that?

Everything thats taken place and the server population numbers are identical for a eek straight right through this massive expansion and protest?

At ~40% last time I saw any numbers, no.
And even if they were, it's still not that general.

It's - 1/4 of the player it used to be before Incarna patch.

Maybe the players that can't run more clients due to incarna been heavier now.
Problem is EVE is still playable with low settings just like before.
So this must be active players that do not log on anymore and not their alts accounts.
It probably took some time until they made up their mind to not log in anymore, after Incarna patch.

Shouldn't the expansion bring MOAR players?
Why is it the number had dropped steadily to 1/4 or 1/3 after the expansion and not the other way around?
Is this a good sign?
So with next expansion or the next after that it's going to be only you and me then?
