I agree that Plex has been around, and that is a form of P2W. However, the problem is that in order for them to sell Nex items with benefits, they either have to destroy markets, or offer better items then are currently in game.

If you look at LP store, pretty much all faction BS lp prices are the same, except for pirates which are the same. So, it would be logical to assume if they release nex store pirate faction battleships, they would all be the same aurum price.

This creates a problem as some are more valuable then others (machariel vs say rattlesnake).

So lets say they price them at 7100 aurum, which is roughly 720m. No one is going to buy rattlesnakes, but this now sets roughly the cap on the price you can sell machariels for by tieing it to plex prices.

To compound that you also take out all of the inbetween steps needed to get that machariel through in game means.

This can create a sticky situation in terms of selling items, and so to make it easier you start releasing items that are not in game, but provide a bonus above what is currently in game.

Boosters without negative side effects, better range tacklers, better ships, ect.

Which means, while before someone could buy plex and be on the same level as other players, the only way to get these items that are better then what is currently available in game, real life cash has to be spent by someone. Yes, you could buy it for ISK but the fact remains that, for the best gear it is mostly cash based.

In order to make a freaking metric buttload of money out of it, they would have to do one or the other indeed.
But they DON'T NEED TO MAKE that much money off of it.
In fact, they only need to make about as much as the equivalent of the difference between PLEX purchasers and PLEX sellers, to keep the stockpiles from going up.

Or, let's say they price them all at 15,000 AUR. Or 20,000 AUR. Or maybe even 30,000 AUR.
They don't need to get a zillion sales of that on a regular basis, if they get a purchase every other day at those prices, that's more than peachy.

Snarky/serious question.

When has a company ever said "that is enough profit for today."?

Not all, but many companies have said that when the continuation of profit that day involved making unethical or dubious moral decisions. Look at Costco as an example.

Yay another doomsayer who uses herd-mentality misrepresentation of the facts to gain attention.

Any ship sold for Aurum will cost an equivalent ship built by the players to purchase. Please let that sink in. From everything CCP has said that is always been the policy and will be going forward.

They did make a big mistake by considering selling a ship before the exchange mechanism was in place. The community slapped them back for it, rightfully so, and they retracted it.

Maybe analyze reality instead of the mob-induced fantasy?

So I take it you haven't seen the talk about not taking the equivalent player-built ship because the store can't support that yet?

So I take it you haven't seen the conclusion about not doing it at all before the store is able to support it ?
