EVE Log Parser is a work in progress Java application for reading in logs and displaying the contained information in a useful way. This project was started in response to the lack of log parsers available to pilots. Specifically parsers that don't run in a web browser or haven't been updated for years.
Java was chosen as the language because that is what I currently develop in, it is more platform agnostic than lower level languages, it has a mature GUI library that is also relatively platform agnostic, and is easily packaged into an executable JAR for the endUser.
The project is heavily in alpha and development has happened in bursts over the last few months. The current revision produces a CSV of parsed data for a program like excel to generate graphs of useful information.
However the planned development replaces that with a mature GUI providing statistics, filtering, dynamic graphs along with a persistent database to store parsed data even if the user deletes the imported logs.
The vision for this tool is to help pilots see their actual damage output, scan chatlogs and provide statistics/graphs of logged data. Providing a more informed experience for the pilots that are curious about that information.
