I fly a mach and its my main mission ship in Minmatar space. I use the mach for Angels/Sansha's and tengu for everything else. I am running a CNR for misisons in Gallente space ATM. Besides the mach, maelstrom should be the best angel killer? CNR and Tengu suck against angels IMHO.

You might want tp pilot a marauder e.g the vaguar Twisted Evil Good ship.

I use to fly the maelstrom with L5 Bs which was very tasty with crystal implants for shield boosting...

I wanted better & now fly omni perma tank shield boosting varguar for angel raping fun, even trained the maruader skill to 5 and never looked back Very Happy

like 540 tank and a little under 700 gun DPS. About 750 if i get republic fleet gyros.

I used that fit, it clears angel missions much quicker than the CNR. CNR kills everything else faster so it seems like a great tag team to me.

And to answer the vargur posts, I have a noctis alt with all 5's in salvaging related skills. Vargur is the best single account l4 angel ship, I should have mentioned that.

i'd wager the golem and tengu both outspeeds the mael. Depending on the mission anyway. Especially as the fit you posted does roghly half of a cookie cutter golem, but with much worse projection.

Oh and you'll most likely want to reconsider your drones. 5 light tp drones is typically a terrible idea...

No, vs angel's, which is what the thread is about, neither one of those ships is faster at completing the mission.

The exception to the rule of course is Angel/Sansha WC, which I would be using an Onyx to rush. I normally use a tengu to rush that one but I dont have a Tengu in this region. I doubt a Gallente agent gives Angel/Sansha WC in the first place.

I have a very hard time seeing that. The reason the mach is great in the first place is it's insanely high damage(as in 14-1500 total dps) with decent projection. Your maelstrom has neither. Do you have some sample times for comparisson?

And are your meassures from undock to undock or from acceleration gate to objective completion?

@ all 5's its like 1209 dps vs 1036 for mach vs mael with enough projection to complete any angel mission except "The blockade" quickly.

Gonna Echo the Vargur suggestion and as I understand it it's actually kind of debatable which is the #1 and which the #2 between it and the Mach.

The Mach is a bit more expensive has slightly high DPS and is generally easier to train for and seems to be preferred by people who blitz.

The Vargur has slightly less DPS but a much stronger tank though slightly slower. It's ammo use is cheaper since it has 4 turrets acting like 8 making it somewhat less expensive to operate. It can also loot/salvage while missioning making it the preferred ship for people who are looting and salvaging.

Personally I trained my Mission character into a Vargur and he's just over 10 days from finishing Marauders V (if CCP resolves the MT fiasco to my satisfaction).

It's a nice ship and much faster than a Mael both how fast it moves and mission speed. It's not as fast as a Mach but it will still outrun a Drake.

You never answered the question though.

Enough and quickly are very relative terms however. The difference between mach and maelstrom in raw dps should be roughly 10% short and simple(8.75 turrets compared to 8), and another 4-5% from the extra gyro of a mach. Add to that MUCH better projection due to the falloff bonus and the much better mobility. And of course the drone bay to allow sentry drones, which the maelstrom lacks. Your fit sports meta 4 guns, which will further increase the difference noticeably.

Regardless, the golem gets a tad better projection, much higher damage at the cost of user friendliness. IE you have to count volleys to get full effect. The only downsides of the golem is mobility and range, however compared to the maelstrom neither of those is really an issue.

Just how big the difference is is hard to tell, as you provide no empirical data yet.

Sorry for not mentioning that I have a noctis on my alt with perfect salvaging. I thought I did but that was another thread. Vargur is out of the question for me to skill into ATM. Great ship tho and one of the best solo mission pwners, agreed.

@noNah, sorry haven't been playing to get those numbers for ya. Used it once on pirate invasion and put it away. It was about 24% faster than the CNR on that mission. The thing is this is just Angel missions in Gallente space so no "The Blockade" and no "WC". Looks like "AE4", "Pirate invasion", and "Unauthorized military presence". I suppose the Golem could clear those as fast as the Maelstrom @ all 5's, but sub all 5's no way. The mael does have **** projection, but if you have an inkling of a clue as to how to run missions you will be spending the same amount of passes on everything but elite cruisers and boss battleships.

In Angel space where you get the far orbiting missions like vengeance and the blockade, the HAM Tengu, Golem, and Mael *ALL* kinda blow.
