Hi all

Just got a 2011 imac 27' i7 4GB with the 2GB GPU upgrade.

In the Jita protests I was spectating and have numerous times either crashed forcing a lock up, or suffered "buffer overrun" errors and forced to desktop.

In both instances I've noticed a rather large amount of heat from the iMac however the fans ARE kicking in at the time of writing this I can clearly hear them and all the temperatures according to iStat are well within safe margins.

I am wondering if anyone else has encounted this crashing issue and come to a solution.

p.s: I've also turned off brackets, missile effects and drone models to try and limit crashing.

Would I be better off making a 100GB Windows Bootcamp and running the Windows client?

The random crashings seem to be a wide-spread problem amongst Mac users. The description of my frequent crashes is similar to yours. I'd suggest that if you've got the means to do it, go with Bootcamp.

I cannot thank you enough for the response! being such a new iMac I've been worried that it was faulty!

It5 is definitely a client issue, dual boxing with 2 clients on a 2009 i3 imac, settings low, no heat problems (CPU 50 GPU 60) but random disconnects, not on both clients though, just one crashes to desktop or ~socket closed~ error, this is since incarna patch and it is random which character crashes, sometime I can be in station and undock with the character and the one in station disconnects.

Mostly it happens on session changes though and it has made my eve experience extremely poor as I can't do any pvp as the disconnects, although random are pretty frequent.

To add even more pain I can't even spin my ship.
