What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

The protests are fun to watch (from a distance, mind you) and a valid way of showing CCP our collective displeasure, but it's getting out of hand. I was in Dodixie the other day and nearly got podded. Came out fine, but CPSA gave me a free Vel and tritanium anyway. Some sort of mixup, I suppose.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

Slow, mostly. I see a lot of potential with CQ, but it just slows my machine to a crawl. I don't need that.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

Unfortunately, yes. And both show a great deal of short-sighted thinking. You do nothing by alienating your customer except wreck your business. Been a small business owner for a while, and customer loyalty is all that's kept me afloat.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I don't trust. But I do hope. Maybe they'll come to their senses.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

No, I don't. And frankly, if NEx starts selling gameplay-affecting items, I'll kill any character I see with a monocle.

How long have you been playing Eve?

Two years at the end of July.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

A little bit of everything. I like to be able to adapt, contribute to New Eden's economy, run contract courier jobs, and occasionally go on an anti-pirate patrol. Keep the asteroids and gates clean.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

Mostly high and low sec with the occasional excursion to null sec

1. I think the protests are compelling. I have not been engaged in such intarweb hijinx in quite some time.

2. Incarna has been ok. The spaceship game updates are all welcomed, turrets, corp stuff, agent finder, etc. CQ was cool at first, but I don't think it's for me. The pacing of it is just soooo sllooowwwww. But, I can see how it would be perfect for some other people. I came here to fly spaceships.

3. Yes. Things people say and do in private rarely translate to their public lives. I see this as no exception. Who knows what direction MT would have taken without the leak. I'd probably be more worried if CCP wasn't looking into MT, it has been wildly successful in a lot of places. The email was an internal vote of confidence by the chief. I'm sure a lot of employees are reading the forums and are thinking 'OMG what did we do!?!' They needed reassurance.

4. I also play LOTRO, so I have some recent experience with the introduction of a cash shop. I originally stated I'd never use it, but eventually things came out that were appealing and I caved. So I won't rule it out, but it probably won't be until I'm rich enough to use plex as TP. Personally I don't care what they put into the store. I will leave it up to people much wiser than I to determine things like impact to economy and estimated profits.

5. I'm a noob. About 2 months. I played about a bajillion hours of Elite on the C64 growing up so I'm in hog heaven, wish I would have came over sooner.

6. I have no favorites yet, I'm trying it all, and it will take a long time to do so, I'm glad for that.

7. High Sec for now, but the wonders of low-null-w-space are calling me.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

K: I think that regardless of motive, the protests are a sign that a portion of the playerbase has lost faith in CCP. As a developer, they are perceived by many to not keep their word. It is fine for the masses of Eve to lie, scam, cheat, steal, etc. It's a game, that's the intended world. It is not okay for a real company, in the real world, to behave as such.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

K: Well, hmmm. My main character lives in a wormhole. So I rolled an empire alt to go have a look. First off, I think the captain's quarters are very beautifully rendered, and very...hmmm. I wouldn't want to live there, I guess, is my feeling. Nice place to visit, maybe. With bodyguards. Anyways, I turned the feature off, because I have a not-so-great machine that handles the spaceship game just fine, but was struggling with CQ. Since the spaceships is what I'm here for, setting my graphics options up for CQ seemed like a waste, so I turned it off.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

K: That's 'purportedly' but close enough. ;) Yes, I've read both. My thoughts on each are brief:

Fearless - CCP as a developer promised, to the CSM (and thus to the playerbase as a whole) that there would never be MT for non-vanity items. Yet the two opinion pieces in the Fearless rag show that they are still debating the idea. There should be no debate - a promise was made. That they are still having the debate is a sign they do not value their promise. Regardless of whether you are for or against MT for non-vanity items, it should really worry everyone that this happens.

The email - The bit most worrying in there, if the thing is genuine, is that part about a 'wholly predictable response'. You are doing something that your customer base is wholly not interested in, and then trying to get your customers interested, but they've told you time and again that this is not why they are here. The disconnect between customer interest and development direction has resulted in the current troubles.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

K: Unfortunately not. I've cancelled my sub. That said, it runs out in April next year, so I'll be sticking around to see what happens next. I'm invested in Eve, I've got friends here, and I'd hate to see it die.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

K: I was not particularly interested in the NeX when it was announced, and my interest has dropped from there into negative interest. That is, I don't plan to buy anything from it, and I'm shocked/laughing/angry at the idea of real life prices for virtual goods. The arrogance of it, combined with everything else going on ($99 3rd party app fee, rigged tournament, Fearless, the email, Zulu's '**** you' devblog').

How long have you been playing Eve?

K: I beta-tested the game, and started my account in April '04. So right now, 7 years, 3 months.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

K: I've done just about everything - industry, mining, research, PvP (small and large scale), and now I'm trying out living in wormholes (quite fun, the lack of local...eh, you get over it). Only things I haven't done are led my own corp/alliance, flown a cap or supercap.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

K: Wormhole space, but I've done all sec-status.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I think they are entirely justified. CCP has previously stated that MT will not happen in EVE, and now we're not only facing microtransactions, but macrotransactions. While any rich person can spend money on vanity items, paying for an advantage is against the entire principle of a sandbox. CCP's dismissal of our views and relative silence on this issue is counterproductive to the trust that they keep telling us is so important to them.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
The new turrets are definitely a good thing, but while CCP's mantra for the year is 'deliver' we have to question what is being delivered to us - the customers. Pleasing shareholders comes from pleasing customers, and in order to please a customer you have to deliver the whole package - not a tiny morsel of it that excludes gamers with older hardware.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
The CCP internal newsletter, while reporting to be a simple argument of opposing viewpoints, is still a terrible thing to behold. The underlying language used leaves no question that MT for items other than simple trinkets is a very real threat. As for the email, it holds the customers in complete disdain. For CCP to go back on their word and then for Hilmar to say that what us customers say cannot be trusted leaves me at a loss for words. I am deeply disappointed in what CCP has become. I don't like being lied to.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
In a word? No. In more than a word: I used to think CCP was dedicated to making an entire universe filled with awesome. Now I think they're just going to raise a middle finger to the customer base and the CSM and attempt to shake every penny they can from EVE. EVE is no longer an awesome game - it is an IP and a product. An engine for making money.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
I wouldn't use NeX for buying vanity items when clothes are already provided, and I certainly wouldn't use my real-life finances to attain an edge over someone who has played honestly for what he has. I don't think the NeX in its current state has any plave within EVE. Let us not forget that Hilmar reports that 52 monocles have been sold. That's not the community accepting that monocles are a good idea - it's the community minus 52 people saying that they want no part of it.

How long have you been playing Eve?
Since May 2005, so a touch over six years. I fear that this will come to a close very soon though, and I'm already looking for other MMOs to play - something I have never done before.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
An industrialist at heart, I suppose. Though my favourite part of EVE is the freedom of flying my arbi anywhere I please.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

Hisec with occasional runs into nullsec.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?I am not bothered by the in-game protests at all. However, the number of people saying that they are unsubscribing is concerning but the main issue I have is with the totally unreasonable rubbish that has been flying around the forums.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?Positive. After reading the forums I expected my PC to blow up the minute I tried to use two accounts at once, especially as I use an AMD CPU and GPU. Didn't happen. I can dual-box fine.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and purportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content? Both. I have been part of a far worse company change in RL (and was meant to find benefits from it as part of my jobShocked). All these show is that internal comms need a tweak (at least they have internal comms, many places don't). Neither document spells the end of EVE as we know it.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?Odd one this, because the answer is both yes and no. I trust CCP to keep EVE clean and what I mean by that is that pay to win will NOT come in. But the interface with DUST is what really fascinates me. I can see a real game revolution in EVE players being able to support DUST players through AU and it both excites and terrifies me.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?BPOs of weapons usuable by Dust players and created from PI and moon materials, that has to be an industrialist's dream.

How long have you been playing Eve?On and off since 2003

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runnerTried everyting except pirate. Now just small scale T2 industrialist.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?Eve life has gone H>0>L>H

As an addition I'm shocked by how the EVE community hasn't embraced Incarna as it seems to me to have some great opportunities for expanding the sandbox even further. Of course there is one dependant , NO play to win stuff can be included.

So much an capsuleer can do, but from what I seen so far, I'm pretty sure the protesters is making progress and I hope, I really do, will open CCP's eyes.

Well, its really nice and I do feel the launch is actually almost problemfree from the past expansions. Regarding on aurum, NeX store, it is executed very, very poorly. Other changes to the game, I welcomed it, especially the signature radius fix that involves "unscannable" setups for ships. I myself used it and I always wondered when CCP going to fix it. I also like the new turrets.

It shows that CCP really care about improving Eve-Online, but ...

It is very concerning, but in the end, its only an discussion ... But it is very alarming that such employees of CCP consider such non-vanity items.

As for the e-mail. I hope that is truly faked. I do consider that Hilmar is just as smart and awesome as Gabe from Valve because I still consider Eve the best game ever for MMO. If he did really stray off course for Eve-O and CPP company itself and thinking only about money (like crap EA) ... Sigh, then I only hope Gabe doesn't stray off course. 275+ ppurchased steam games shows I love Valve. How much I love Eve? Well, I noticed some questions below and will answer that.

I trust CCP to the end. However, that end for me to leave CCP/Eve will come as soon IF CCP implements items to the game that provides ANY sorts of changes like stronger guns, ammo, paying for increased standing. however items like ships skins, $70 monocle, $500 tatoos, $1000 japanese pants, I don't care, its fine, as long it doesn't change anything to the game that can give some sort of advantage edge (Even if negative buffs, I'm still against it).

It is very promising, but again the NeX is implemented very, very poorly. I will buy something that's for sure because it can cost you nothing in real life cash, but in the end, I'll have to double or triple the effort to earn isk to get such items. :( 0.0 PvP doesn't come cheap!

I can imagine pink skin ships, logos on your ships, tons and tons of various of clothings for your avatar or improving your HQ.

My favorite part of Eve is my corporation I joined and SCOOTER1. SCOOTER1 and Interstaller Exodus makes my Eve fun. I am mainly an Eve PvP pilot. I do just about everything Eve has to offer. My main can do mining, missions, industry. My 2nd account is just my Swiss Army knife to enhance my abilities to do more in Eve. :) Recently I started doing Incursions, and I found my new and nice access of earning income unlike tedious and boring 0.0 ratting.

I operate in all areas. Suicide Gank and Can Baiting in High Sec (missions here and there sometimes) and incursions I recently got into. Low Sec, well, I do fight in low sec whenever a target comes acress into my gang's war path. Null sec is my main and pvp activity.

Currently, we are planning on compiling these surveys and the information, highlighting the major opinions here in and submitting them to the CSM so they get a spread of various viewpoints for their meeting this weekend. We don't have any arrangements for this in place yet, but will be working towards it.

Any other thoughts are appreciated to make this reflect a broad perception of the situation.

Thanks for your critical response of the situation.

Let me throw a quick addendum onto my inputs.

While I'm highly critical of the behavior of [the majority of] the protesters, that doesn't mean that I don't think they have a legitimate gripe. I agree with their concerns, CCP needs to clearly address the issue of future impact of microtransactions on gameplay. They need to provide an answer.

My criticism of the rioters' comes from their behavior the precedent it will set. They may be right, but if CCP just gives in, it encourages the vocal minority to continue rising up and throwing tantrums at every little thing they choose not to like.

Those that approach the crisis rationally and professionally should be heard, considered, addressed. Anyone breaking the established rules or terms of conduct by spamming, harassment, making threats, attempting to disrupt service, should be held accountable. Anyone committing a ban-able offense should be banned, no matter what side of the issue they stand on.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

Clogging up market hubs on purpose just gives the GM's a headache in reality. The reported unsubs have more impact. So does the negative press. Also, since nearly 80% of the voters went with No in this post from last year. It's clear that CCP is ignoring what players, the folks who pay them, want. Just one example, I could dig for more.

I think this uproar is more than just Incarna. I think it was the last few degrees of heat needed for the pot to boil over. The stealth nerfs/changes, increasingly buggy/unfinished/empty expansions, the banning of whistleblowers, mediocre at best customer support, poor dev/customer communication, long ignored bugs/balance issues, CSM gag orders...etc, slowly added heat.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

It's all fluff. CQ is just a resource hogging, inefficient, incomplete 3D graphical interface for what we use to have. And it should have been completely optional, hooked up to a button in the old hangar view.

The new turrets, meh. Would have been nice if they included missle launchers. In any case, that was a lot of dev time that could have been used somewhere else.

The MACROtransaction system. Overpriced for sure. I'm following the majority of the voters, NO MT, it should have never been implemented. But since it seems we're stuck with it, vanity item's only.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and purportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

Yup. Fearless: for what is suppose to spark internal discussion, page 9 looks like fact. If the copy I have is unedited, authoring opinions to look like fact is just a bad idea. If it's leaked, you have a sh*tstorm. Common sense. And at the moment, we don't have much reason to believe what CCP says, page 9 could be their initial plan, and it just blew up in their face.

The Email: if legit, it's a lot of tooting their own horn over an expansion that doesn't have much in it and some delusions of grandeur. I'm sure the unsubs are really not the action he was looking for.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I don't trust any developer. If I had more space I would explain that.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

At current prices, a big resounding no. If items were in the $0.50 to $2.00 range for vanity items like other MT setups in other games, maybe, but unlikely.

How long have you been playing Eve?

2 years and change.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner?

I like the complexity and I'm a jack of all trades in RL, so that translates to EVE as well.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

Mostly high-sec recently, but I did have a 5+ month tour of wormspace a ways back and have had some trips to less friendly areas.
