While reporting on the protesting raging through New Eden right now, I've been lucky enough to get some time with two Capsuleers, one on either side of the debate.

My first conversation was with Rufex who was debating the need for the protests in the Rens local channel.

A transcript of our conversations starts below:

---
How long have you been playing Eve?
I have been playing EVE for just over 3 years now I believe.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
It is hard to pinpoint what part of EVE I like the most. I tend to participate in Industry/Mining more than I do in combat although I like all aspects equally.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?
My areas of play tend to revolve around High and Low sec with very few ventures into Null sec.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I believe the current protests going on around the various systems in New Eden are just a way for people to grief others. It appears to be a select few people who have strong feelings about the current Micro-transaction coupled with absolute lies and false information. The whole thing seems to have spiralled into a selfish movement which is restricting others from going about their business and doing what they pay to do, have fun. Even as I type this out now there are people in local chat groups spreading lies about the monocle giving stats for certain things in hopes to gain more people for this huge grief fest.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I personally find the new expansion to be pretty good. I love the interiors and the new turret models are awesome. That being said I do understand that the expansion may be seen by some as nothing to be excited about. It is afterall a stepping stone for something far grander than a typical expanion to what we are all used to receiving. That being said there are still goodies in there for everyone to enjoy, just on a smaller scale than usual.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
I have read both documents and they are quite interesting as are the responses to them. My opinion however is that this has been taken way out of proportion by those protesting. I understand why they are doing it but I don't see why. CCP are purely giving us an option to buy vanity items. I can understand that they are stupidly priced currently but so is everything else that is new on release. Given a few months and these items will be worth a lot less.

I don't feel there is any need to hold any concern over these. All MMO's are taking on this 'new' approach to more revenue and so long as that second form of revenue is based purely on cosmetic or 'vanity' items then there is no need to worry. Those who want it will buy it while those who don't need not worry.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
Completely. I regard CCP as one of if not the best MMO developer going. They listen to the community and strive always to improve the game. I have seen no reason to not trust them and I hold full confidence in their ability to progress the game in a way that everyone can enjoy.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
Quite possibly. The sort of things I would buy depends on what exactly ends up on there.

Given that the NEX has been stated as a purely cosmetic venture I can see myself purchasing a few items based on my own personal tastes. I don't currently feel interested enough in the current items to purchase but given time and new releases I can see myself purchasing some items.

Regarding items that should be available to the store I think it should be kept for its initial purpose of purely cosmetic items. Anything that can affect characters beyond cosmetics in the way of stats or skills would be gamebreaking and unnacceptable. Only if EVE went to a 'free-to-play' model would this kind of 'MT' be acceptable.

Thank you for your time Rufex!

On the other side of the debate was Alexander Miirnovsky. Alexander was in Jita and taking part in the protested on the Monument there.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I am glad to see people online willing to protest, most of the people here would not get off their lazy ass in real life to do so and seem genuinely worried about the direction the game is headed. I will not try to list every reasons people are here or what I know it would be too long,

I am protesting because:
- Development time is spent creating roleplay environments and RMT items which are not for the masses, the dev blog clearly said they were vanity items for station walkers but im paying for a space war game and want space war game features.
- CCP is not listening to their customers and keeping silent, being out of touch and generally behaving in a non reassuring way for the game future. This game has alot of things that could use fixing/improvement yet they keep pushing worthless/unfinished content out of the door.

Instead of creating content that takes months to release and will be used by 2% of the population they could make currently available content used by 5% of the population more interesting and less flawed so that more people want to get involved.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I run 2 clients and even with my top of the line desktop computer I can feel the extra heat coming out of my 120mm exhaust fans when docked, takes me about 5 seconds more to load the station (10 seconds on my 2 months old laptop) for a totally useless and bound to fail in a space combat game feature. I don't see whats the point beside sucking more juice out of my hardware even in long term with station walking it does not fit in the game.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
I have read the Fearless .pdf. Its quite worrying but it is not the main reason im protesting in Jita.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
I have been playing for ~1 year and I don't believe any fun/good content has been added to the game since I started playing. (Planet Interaction/Sansha Incursions/Captain quarters which do not add anything to my personal experience)

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
No I am not the type of consumer CCP believes we all are from their fearless newsletter. You either go with subscriptions or RMT, doing both your a greedy *****.

How long have you been playing Eve?
1 year and 2 months

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
I am a pvper at heart but since I have not yet found the right corp I am a Mission Runner/trader. Im spending most of my time online looking for a corp sad but true story.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?
High Sec/Null Sec

Thank you for your time Alexander.

How long have you been playing Eve?
About 5 years now

What is your favorite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
I enjoy a lot of different things, mostly pvp and wormhole life at the moment.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?
Living in a C3 wormhole

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I agree with the protests, I haven't taken part in any of the in-game protests, because I feel logging out and canceling my subscriptions is a MUCH more effective way to protest

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
My comp cannot handle the CQ, so I had to shut it off, but even laggy I think it's a good step for newer players and anyone that is into WIS and the items you can buy. I do have major issues with the disable button being "temporary". My only thought behind that is that they must be moving forward with MT that will be for in game items. Otherwise why not keep the option to shut it off. They are obviously going down that road since no comments have been specifically made about it from the devs.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
I read the documents and the fact that these things are being discussed by CCP makes me worry. I feel like most of the people on CCP's side trying to downplay this are just lying to themselves if they think the items available are not going to be in game items (ships, guns, ammo). It is going to ruin what this game is all about.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
Not at all, unless something goes in writing stating the items will be vanity items only, I will not log on again, ever, period.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
If it's vanity items only, I probably won't buy anything. Don't really get it tbh, it just doesn't appeal to me in any way. I would go play the sims online if that is what I wanted to do. To me this game is suppose to be about spaceships, blowing each other up, and sharing those moments with friends/corp members. The fact they are spending time at all on things like this already put me in a bad place, the leaked document and lack of trust I have for the company is what canceled my accounts.

The protests/riots are a culmination of feelings by the concerned public that they are not being listened to. That the situation has escalated beyond the CSM's perceived impotence in affecting CCP's direction with new game content.

Everyone's motivations differ. Some don't want the NeX. Some want a reaffirmation that 'Pay2Win' isn't in a realm of possibilities. Some believe that the entire 5-6 years of Incarna's development has failed to produce anything meaningful to the players (it benefits CCP as a for-profit business immensely). Some are just frustrated because they can't dock without their GPU's overheating.

Quote:
How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

There is no 'experience'. I dock, load into an unfinished game environment to spend 5-10x as much time to accomplish the same things I could do last week in a matter of seconds. The NeX is horribly overpriced for it's product line of virtual goods I could pay for, but do not legally own.

I saw this in FFXIV and that game is dying a slow, horrible death. I stayed away from SWG anticipating the same issues. I see this in Incarna and cannot imagine CCP getting away unscathed for it's inept efforts.

Quote:
Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

I have read the documentation. It is an in-house, not for public document for obviously good reasons, however, it goes too far in an effort to change the mindset of CCP employees to ideas that have been established as taboo by the player base. While the intent is nothing to be concerned about, the content puts the integrity of CCP's relationship with its community in dispute.

Quote:
Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

If CCP doesn't want to suffer the slow deaths of nearly every MMO in today's market, they need to ungag themselves and genuinely interact with a community that is begging, pleading, protesting, and rioting for more than the silence and non-answers they have been receiving.

Quote:
Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

The Noble Exchange will stand as a testament to every persistant game as an example of what not to do in its current state. I can see it becoming remarkably successful if items not meant to be an eve e-peen collectors item (eg the 'monocle') are dropped down to virtual good levels. Nobody is fooled to think that CCP's 'designer' styles are anything more than a scam that puts Starbucks stereotypes to shame. If clothing prices dropped to 10% of their current value, their business will boom.

Five years

The player driven mechanics, and CCP's (now questionable) interactivity with it's player base. Games are games, but it's the company that chooses to be successful with it or let it rot.

Quote:

I've operated in all areas of EVE over the years. It changes depending on the ever-circulating drama and social situations.

I think the protests are one part mob mentality gone wrong, and one part what makes EVE an amazing game. This is one of the most involved, invested playerbases in MMO gaming and we take our internet spaceships seriously. I am sympathetic to the sentiments that give rise to the rioting, but I think it would be possible to do this without as much local spamming, all-caps, and in some cases hatespeech as is getting flung aroung.

For an impromtu, unorganized protest, however, this is a very well executed and peaceful affair. In the future it would probably be better if the playerbase organized a little and developed some better message control but EVE players tend to resist authority.

Overall my experience with the released content of Incarna has been very positive. I love the new turret models. The maller looks utterly badass. I am very hopeful about CQ though it's clearly VERY rough around the edges right now. It's a shame that NeX flopped the way it did, but all my problems with EVE right now have nothing to do with Incarna itself.

Originally by: Velicia Tuoro

I have, and I am very troubled by the content of those documents, as well as the community response. Both of these documents are being taken dreadfully out of context (as leaked documents often are). At one and the same time, CCP's communication has been utterly flaccid at a time when strong, simple messages are needed that address the underlying concerns of the community. I'm very disappointed in how CCP has let what could've been simple egg on the face turn into a full-blown ragefest.

Originally by: Velicia Tuoro

No. Not after their handling of the leaked documents and the community fear (founded or not) that CCP is moving in the direction of real money for instant-created ships, ammo, and modules (aka 'pay to win'). The Fearless issue was especially worrying when it started talking about DUST 514 being about "fighting with ... real money." That made my heart sink a little. CCP's consistent refusal to answer the direct question about a future ability to buy ships and ammo on NeX pretty much sinks my trust in the company, however.

I'm too broke. (PhD student.) I think it should sell clothes and bling, paintjobs, special effects, and so on. Vanity gear sells well in other MMOs and CCP could make a decent chunk of money on that. It should NOT sell ships, ammo, or other gameplay effecting items as this would dilute the game and encourage pay-to-win play.

If I get a real job I would totally buy paintjobs for my ship if they were inexpensive. $1-2 per ship, even if it gets blown up with my ride, I'd probably buy one or two. I've got an Apotheosis that could do with some flames on the sides... :)

Off and on, since Red Moon Rising. This account has been active since 2008, I let my 2nd account expire shortly thereafter.

I used to be a high-sec mining carebear, lately I've taken to flying PvP in lowsec and was looking into moving into null to see what all the fuss was.

I appreciate your enthusiasm that our professionalism and ability to display neutrality amidst such high emotional tension must indicate that we are a CCP Strike team of some kind (not sure how this would work).

Really, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and I expect most of the surveys that will be complete here by the end of the thread to be of protestors, I would like to see the responses from both neutral and anti-protestors alike.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

I think a lot of people are frustrated with the lack of response from CCP and are trying to find some way to vent their frustration. Shooting at monuments in trade hubs is as good a way as any. It might inconvenience some, I grant, but protests have a tendency to inconvenience bystanders who wouldn't otherwise be involved. That's sort of the point.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

Mixed. Watching my ships float in the hangar from that balcony thing is pretty badass. What's not badass is the extra 10-20 seconds it takes to load the station environment when I dock up, or the 5 degree jump in my GPU temperature and drop in FPS. What's not badass is the option to not load station environment, which by CCP's own explicit design is a temporary option that will soon go away. What's not badass are the three missing racial quarters we were promised. And then there's the NEX; I don't like being double-billed by CCP, and asking for a subscription fee, using that fee to make NEX items and then selling those back to us is double-billing. CCP can make all the MT vanity items they want, just so long as they're still delivering the spaceship game that they advertised on the box - and that means more than just keeping the servers us, that means adding new, functional content, and fixing/iterating on content that they've already added in.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

I have, and to be perfectly honest neither of them surprised me when I read them. I'd hoped that I was wrong about the direction that CCP was taking, but these documents confirm my suspicions - the Hilmar email moreso than the newsletter, which as I understand was a way of playing "Devil's Advocate" to get people thinking about an idea. The problem with that, though, is that the idea proposed to start thinking about, whether game-affecting MT items should be in EVE, was something that CCP had previously promised to never do. Frankly, that promise should have been the end of the discussion.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I really don't know. It's going to take a lot for CCP to regain the trust I've lost in them this week. As Hilmar said, "actions speak louder than words". But I love EVE, and I have a lot of respect for the work CCP has done on it, so I haven't unsubbed yet. My hope is that if I give them a chance they might turn things around, but if they don't then there's nothing here for me anymore.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

Honestly? If I had the ISK I'd buy a monocle. It's a status symbol just like Zulu said. But you can't make every item a super-expensive status symbol, you've got to make some of them more affordable. I might shell out a buck or two to get my Intaki mullet hairstyle back, y'know, the one that CCP pulled when they axed the old character creator - just so long as that doesn't set a future precident for CCP to axe functionality and then sell it back to us.

How long have you been playing Eve?

Since Fall of 2006.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

None of the above; my favorite part of EVE is the community. EVE to me is a social framework to interact with people whose company I enjoy and ruin the days of other people. I guess that makes me PVP/bittervet.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

I've seen it all. Currently I'm basing out of nullsec, holding a pocket of lowsec, and jumping back to hisec to generate ISK.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

Angry mob of players, nothing more nothing less. Hope the don't break the game in the process.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

New guns, the look pretty! Current items in the NEx store are a joke. Rarely see the inside of a station in the past year, so I can't comment on captains quarters. But I guess it's a nice treat for the new players.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

Yes, and it makes me wonder.. whats next? Engion trails for AUR? Custom paintjobs for AUR? Cool cyno effect for AUR?

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

If the keep ignoring the player base, it will go downhill. Not as fast as some people might hope, but it will eventually go downhill. And about the trust, the trust is gone... really wonder how the next fanfest is going to look like. If there ever will be a next fanfest.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

I am afraid I might go to the "dark side" if the put stuff like engiontrails in the NEx store. But the price will be a major factor and currently the failed on all levels to keep me pleased in this department.

How long have you been playing Eve?

Since 2003 but with several breaks. Picking it up when interesting things are happening.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

I am a jack of all trades, anything you mention I have done it. My favorite part is that I can always pick up a part that might seem interesting.

I think this is a very good initiative.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I can see the reasons for both the protesters and the people whom complain about the protests.
While I had my time yesterday in joining in one of the protests (in Amarr), more because I wanted to see what they were actually going to accomplish than because I felt it really needed to be done, I haven't taken part in any way today.
There has to be a limit to how much and how long you can ruin other peoples fun. And I agree that clogging up the trade hubs today is a bit counterproductive.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
Not really good, not really bad either. I haven't used Captains Quarter much, but it is a step in a very cool direction. The moment we are able to talk to each other in a pub over a glass of virtual beer will see me in CQ and station a lot more.
The turrets are just plain awesome. I couldn't really care less about the Vanity Items, though I had a good laugh at first. I do not think this pricing point will actually earn CCP a lot of money. If the monocles had cost half a PLEX, I can see thousands of people buying them.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

Indeed. These documents are not really bad on their own, but seen in the context of the general situation and the actions of CCP in the last few months/expansions and the last few days in particular, it is pretty damning for CCP.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
On one side, the CQ is a thing I have been waiting for for a long time. And any development in this direction I would greatly support.
On the other side, vanity items, which might turn into game changing items, and that last is something I will never support, though I won't (likely) quit EVE over it. Unless it becomes too blatant and I'm constantly ****d by kiddies just punching in a lot of money.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
I might buy a few clothing accessories if they were really cool, and all available for 1 PLEX, but otherwise, I think I'm more interested in being unique on the opposite side of the spectrum (conservative).

How long have you been playing Eve?
A year and a few months, though I've had an account somewhere in 2003 or 2004 as well. I recall it being focused much more on role-playing then.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
I'm currently a (somewhat) failing trader. I've found that the best profession you can have in EVE is webdeveloper, helping corporations create their necessary websites/tools is a very sure way to earn money.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?
All, though my recent nullsec ventures have been in a shuttle only. I can mostly be found in the Amarr region, trading.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

Meh.. Whatever. Can't log into Jita on my main, but it may be a good opportunity to use this to pop into a nearby system and avoid some griefers so I can go get another jump clone. Time and opportunity.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

I haven't played a lot lately, and generally find myself dissatisfied with the direction the game is going. Ironically, this has nothing to do with development on CCP's side, and everything to do with the widespread opinion that EVE is and should be a griefing game. CQ is great, and I really like the new features. Unfortunately, things fail to hold my attention for long, when all they are is graphics and shiny settings. CQ and Incarna need more content, in order to be of any real interest. I do appreciate it far more than ship spinning, even in it's current state however. I can see how people with the door view are upset by this though; not much to look at there, though I fail to see it as mocking, it is quite limited.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and purportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

I only read CCP Soundwaves post in the pdf, and rather regret that now. I haven't looked hard, but it seems the pdf has become significantly more inaccessible. I'd like to read the rest, now that I know it is real, as I appreciate the insight into the Dev's minds. Really, I think it boils down to people being given a brief Title to provide them with the viewpoint to fuel their writing, like we did back in school.

Overall, I'm unimpressed with the e-mail. Though it has had its authenticity partially clarified, it is still questionable to some degree. Regardless, assuming it is real, I am unconcerned with the content there for the most part. CCP Hilmar is within his rights to hold whatever opinion he wants to, and believing these times are a better time to watch, rather than listen, is actually kind of pragmatic. What useful information could be gained from the players, is very hard to see amidst the chaos.

I can't think of anything in either, that makes me fear for the future of EVE.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I have faith in CCP, yes, if that is what you are asking. Do I think CCP_Hilmar is following the right course exactly, in light of recent developments? No, not necessarily, but I am not concerned he is way off track, only a little. I am also concerned about the Dev who is presumably the Senior Producer, which we saw in Video Logs in the Alliance Tournament feed. Something about his body language and attitude bothered me, and I found myself questioning why he was in that position.

If you want my impression of the others, I rather liked them. Yes, even the Goon. Ironically, I've actually been thinking of joining Goonswarm lately; something I never would have considered less than 3 months ago.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

I think they're a beautiful demonstration of the strength of the EVE Community -and they have found a way to demonstrate that shows incredibly beatiful light shows is just even more amazing to me.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

I've enjoyed it, but I tested it heavily on Singularity, so little was truly a surprise. I think my major complaints are as follows :

1. My Computers Fans kick up heavily and my GPU rises 7 degrees. There is an issue here, because when I was testing on Singularity I don't recall this being an issue.

2. Being forced out of our pod everytime is unenjoyable. There are many times I simply do not want to get out of my ship. This comes from the convenience as well as the immersion element.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and purportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

Yes.

My major concerns with Fearless are "Convenience Service" RMT. I do NOT want to be charged for extra-fittings. I have a thread that i started on the matter, and I feel personally targeted by the commentary written about charging for extra Saved Fittings. This is multi-fold.

1. CCP took AWAY our unlimited fittings, and now there are thoughts of charging us for it?

2. The problem can be resolved on a client side basis like it was already done prior to the server side fittings.

3. Don't give me a load of crap about "extra" storage. I can have a million items all over EVE, stored all over the galaxy, and unlimited bookmarks, and essentially unlimited data storage, but you want to charge me for a line of code?

If you're not familiar, EVE Fittings are stored in a FittingsDNA format outlined in the wiki : http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Ship_DNA

This is how a fitting is saved :
597:25861;1:6673;3:439;1:4025;1:1183;1:1998;1:1236;1:11269;1::

That's a massive amount of data right there.

Sorry, load of crap. We pay a subscription to have a client that works as well as anyone elses, don't charge me extra. Give us what we deserve.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I'm a CCP fan, but really, it's been tough the last few days. The idea that they want to charge/milk/extract more money from the community under false pretenses. The absurdly out of touch prices of the NeX and the desire to clearly create a PLEX Sink is just really hard to not take at face value as simply greed. You have to buy 2 plex to buy a 3600 AUR pair of pants. Really? That's just greedy. The prices are unacceptable and need to be changed.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

I can see myself buying goods that players market that they have bought on the NeX, but not at these current prices. If you get 10,000 players to buy $10 in NeX goods you are going to generate more money and more PLEX sink than getting 52 people to buy 4 PLEX's worth of Aurum.

It's simply math. Stop being greedy.

How long have you been playing Eve?

I've been playing EVE for 5 years. I've had multiple accounts and pay a premium to experience EVE the way I Do. I don't think CCP is making out poorly on my investment in their game.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

I'm a Low Sec and 0.0 PVPer for the last 3-4 years. I started out with aspirations of industrial hauling, then moved on to living in LowSec fighting pirates with a few groups. After that it was Null Sec and then back to Low sec after that became tiresome.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

Currently Low Sec.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

I think I would pay for a new skin for a ship through MT, provided I liked it well enough and it wasn't prohibitively costly. So many of the ships in EVE are drab and boring by comparison, and I feel we need much more variety in space, despite that you will only really see it on undock and close quarters. I will also watch and see what other items of clothing come up in the future, though I'm really not to likely to spend anything on them.

For the future of MTs, I will wait and see. I have little opinion on the matter, and generally defer to the community wishes that I see. Right now, that means MT are strictly vanity items, and I see no reason to change this or go against the community wishes. I am a little concerned that these opinions are being lobbied by the sort of people who are deliberately controlling the economy of EVE however.

How long have you been playing Eve?

~2-1/2 years. Seems like a lot longer really.

What is your favorite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

As I said earlier, I have lost a great deal of interest in EVE due to the majority of players attitudes. Aside from that, I tend to enjoy exploring and seeing new things. Not the Scanprobe exploration of course, except where it involves first time visits to sites, and seeing wormholes for the first time. I dislike repetition intensely, and never go out of my way to repeat things.

PvP is likely to be the way I go in the future, as it will give me access to unexplored areas of EVE, and it doesn't tend to be particularly repetative.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec

For now, High Sec, though I have been through Null, spent time in NPC Nullsec, Lowsec, and lived in wormholes for quite some time.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I have been participating since the beginning. It is true that not everyone is there for exactly the same reason (ship spinning, hardware fails, lack of content, etc.), but what is heard is a general concern for the direction that CCP is taking eve in, and the vast majority of protestors are there because they do not want eve to turn into a Pay 2 Win cash cow. The amount of emo probably would not be so huge if CCP had listened and shown respect to the player base, but what they've basically done is spit everyone in the face and gave us a big FU. Needless to say, players are not happy about this.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I have been looking forward to emulation/ incarna for years and am convinced that it can add a new level of depth to the game if implemented correctly. This expansionpatch however is laughable, even for something that is suppossed to be developed further in the future. It adds nothing except 5 minutes of walking around (if you even have the hardware to support it), clicking a bit and then get bored because there is literally nothing to do. It is a big disappointment. What annoys me most however, is that it is impossible to turn off, unless you wan to be staring at a door from now on (which is supposedly going to disappear in the near future as well). A door, come on, this isn't 1995. I really do not see why they removed the old hangar and broke their promise on the "optional WIS".

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
Yes, I've read them both entirely, and I found them astonishing. It shows an enormous arrogance at CCP, an utter disrespect for the player base/ customers that have supported them for years and got them where they are today. And of course there is the MT "discussion", which is no discussion at all as everything is pro-MT revenue except a a small text on 1 page that was against the whole MT-plan. It's a document by CCP that's meant to convince their own employees who are worried about what CCP is doing that everything is going to be alright. Talking about CCP-employees, I find CCP's own statistics on employee satisfaction and the reviews that former CCP employees posted here very telling...

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
Their past performance doesn't give me much hope for this. They have a history of ignoring players' demands, but since **** has really hit the fan this time, who knows...

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
Tbh I don't really care for vanity items, but maybe if it's really cheap and can be (indirectly) bought with a small amount of isk I'll buy a monocle for some lulz. I have the isk, but seriously I can think of a better use of a couple of billion...

How long have you been playing Eve?
On and off since 2006.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
I've participated in most aspects of the game, I've earned my money with trading mostly and at the moment I'm hanging around in highsec, awaiting what will happen with eve. If I like that direction, I will probably go to .0 or a wormhole again.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

Like I said above, it changes.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings? I don't understand why more people are not protesting.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I never wanted it but, i was willing to accept it as long as it didn't break the game. I don't want to play dressup in the dollhouse. I have nothing wrong with gay people. I am not gay though. I don't want gayness forced upon me or my alternative is the door.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
That is why im protesting. At first I was just going unsub and walk away but now I want to protest.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
Don't know don't care..i have 3 months left on my sub. Then im done. I don't play any other video games, and not looking to start.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
NO NEVER

How long have you been playing Eve?
5 years off and on.

I used to do everything. I love the ships, the fact that EVERYTHING in the game is by the players.

Please keep the thread clear of chatter though so people can easily read the communities responses. We'll report any posts which don't match the below format to try and keep the thread clean and easy to read.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

As one of the protesters, I think it has gone very well and has not ballooned out of proportion. The thing to remember here is that peaceful assembly is always a healthy way to defend ones points. Now, I have no need of deliberate griefing in this case, but shooting some statues hardly qualifies and honestly, we have every right to be angry, and to voice that anger. We should not stand by and take this lying down. We have been lied to and kicked when we were down.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

I've very underwhelmed. I was here when this idea was first brought out in the open and I was very, very excited. But, that was when the idea was for entire stations. Bars, casinos, very filthy, seedy places to be. We didn't get that. We got a barbie station. There is an element of "filth" there, but, it's very subdued. And all we have is a boring CQ. I was even underwhelmed by the ships in the hangar. I had such high hopes. I'm disappointed, mostly.

I have not experienced much in the way of horrible hardware issues, even though I play on a crappy laptop. But, I'm spooked by the issues that people with the same specs as I have are experiencing. It runs fine for me, but I can't run two instances of the game. Kind of a bummer for me since I had two accnts.

I have no problems with the NeX, in and of itself. I DO have an issue with pay--to-win additions. And, I always will.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

I have read them. I have also posted them on my own blog. I'm very saddened by the way the CCP employees think about their playerbase behind their backs. I feel like I've been giving them money while they snicker at what a chump I am. Hilmar's email was over the top arrogant, and over the top smug. It was very angering. It shows you what greed will do to otherwise fine people. The Fearless document is just shocking and flabbergasting. I will never see people like CCP Soundwave in the same way again. They don't respect us as players, just as walking wallets.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

No. I don't. I don't trust them at all. I think they will backstab us again for a buck. I had planned to buy a PS3 for the DUST 514 release, I have canceled that idea. I have canceled EVE Online and will never be interested in WoD.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

No. I wouldn't have used it anyway. There's nothing on there that I need, or want. There never will be. Even if I hadn't left the game, there's nothing they could put on there that I would buy. I wouldn't buy skills, books, ships, clothing, faction, or sov. I'd like to play and earn my things. Not buy them. I can buy playermade ships.

How long have you been playing Eve?

I made my first character in 2006.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

All of the above.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?

I have done somethings in all of those. Null sec was the most recent.

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I'm not in the protests. As the matter of fact, I'm not in the game for the last couple of days because of the RL stuff. I fully understand those that protest and I support their goals, which are simply to communicate with CCP about the major problems such are rushed unplayable expansions piling up on each other and MT shops that sell items and/or services that would give players an advantage over others. A simple live dev-blog would solve all the problems, clear up many doubts of the community and remove any misunderstandings that probably happened.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I just saw the doors. The Incarna is far from finished, but I like the idea of it. The performance issues must be addressed ASAP.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
Yes, I've read them. The content of "Fearless" is horrible at the first sight. It looks like CCP didn't see the links between many aspects of the game and that the delicate balance of different professions in game can not be intruded without massive consequences for the gameplay itself. But then again, I really hope that I've seen in there what others haven't - that it's a satirical representation of two extremes. THAT should be made clear with the direct statement. Additionally, all that needs to be done to clear the situation up would be a clear yes or no answer from CCP to a question about non-vanity performance enhancing MT items. I haven't found anything much interesting in the mail, except the fact that they think monocles can replace actual people paying subscriptions, the same players who often buy and pay for alt accounts. I would also advise CCP to not open that expensive celebrating champagne yet until they see the actual sales report after the initial "wave" of 52 items bought by a playerbase of 350,000 players. After all, $70 is 1/3 of the average monthly wage in my country.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
I would trust them if they were clear about their direction and willing to communicate. I can't trust someone who is silent.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
Probably no, I won't use the NEX store (at least not in this state). The only use for the NEX items that I see is for giving it away to someone as a reward or a birthday present, but that's why expensive ships are for. Maybe, just maybe if the price range for certain items is not higher than $1-$1,5 , I'd do it just to try different things out. NEX store should have vanity items ONLY. That can include clothes, character accessories, hats (what's a gentleman without a hat), ship paint (but only if Player Produced Ship + NEX Paint Item = Painted Ship), maybe even station bars when Incarna goes multiplayer. NEX store can cover anything that's not already in the game and not giving an unfair advantage over other players in terms of ship/character performance or creates a massive difference in ISK making.

How long have you been playing Eve?
About 5 years on different characters.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
My favourite part in Eve is - Eve. I like every aspect of it and often switch from one activity to another. That way you can never be bored with the monotonous gameplay.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec?
I've operated everywhere, except WH space, almost equally. WH space is yet to be explored properly

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

I don't think the in-game protests are accomplishing too much. The real protest will be seeing how many people don't renew their subscriptions.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

It's the most worthless expansion I've seen in my time in EVE. It's actually worse than worthless, because it actively removed functionality from the game (hangar view), and replaced it with either Captains Quarters (which is almost as functional as the hangar, but loads MUCH slower), or a static wallpaper of a door (which loads almost as quickly as the hangar view, but has NO functionality).

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

The Fearless newsletter is a little bit worrisome, because they're debating a topic that was supposedly a settled topic. We were told there would be no real money trading for in-game benefits, but that's exactly what was being debated.

The leaked email from Hilmar is just pouring gasoline on the fire. The smug, condescending tone of the email is insulting to the player base.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

I used to, but not any longer. I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, though, if they addressed our concerns instead of listening to Hilmar's email of "stay the course."

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

I never will, no matter what was offered, no matter the price. Before this debacle unfolded, I might have considered spending SMALL amounts of money on cosmetics, but after all of this, the idea no longer appeals to me.

How long have you been playing Eve?

Started in 2007, but have taken a couple long breaks. I have 32 million SP on my main.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

I dabble in many things, but I love griefing/ganking/scamming. A lot of that involves PvP, but not usually in the honorable, mutual sense. When I'm not doing that, I play the market.

What area of Eve do you operate in. High Sec? Low Sec? Null Sec? Mainly high sec, with rare jaunts into others

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?

I don't like things going that way, but given CCP is refusing to answer our simple questions we don't have many way left.
I know CCP is horrible at communication, but there's limit and they have been far from reached.
Some people have made pretty clear and well made opinion, like Tippia, and I can't understand why CCP is still ignoring us.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?

Depend on the situation.
I like the fact they are adding this part into the game, but i don't like them putting it on this unfinished state.
There's lots of lighting issues making CQ either too dark, or our face horrible.
I hate their choice of calling this expansion "Incarna" while in fact it's a simple one room CQ without any gameplay.
Also, as anyone using mutliboxing i have big technical issues, even for little things have changing a skill while another client is running.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?

I did. And I was stunned.
I didn't like the witch hunt who appeared after the first one, cause I always agreed opinion on them were only opinion. But still, make me pretty scared about them switching to non-vanity items.
The Hillmar mail was too much. How can he talk about CQ as something perfect when it's all except that ? How can he explain they are changing the world with their MT ? How can they have experts talking about that for months while lying to us saying they didn't knew ?
And saying they knew about the feedback, and saying to ignore it... while at the same time putting a thread saying they were sorry and wanted to hear... while still ignoring us and the CSMs...
I lost trust on their words.
And yeah I think this mail is true, as i saw by myself the topic being deleted, and a moderator saying it was breaching rule for talking about private correspondance...

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?

You would have asked me on week ago I would have said yes.
yesterday I was too shocked to think about it.
Now i'll wait to see what they have to answer, but I really doubt i'll continue playing after my current time is gone.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?

Buying clothes for some ISK ? sure. buying clothes for hundred of ISK ? NO.
I would have bough a few things if the price were honest, and the store were staying vanity items only.

How long have you been playing Eve?

I began in 2007, but really played for about 2 years.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner

What is your perspective on the protests current happening in New Eden. What do you know about them and what are your feelings?
I wholeheartedly support and participate in them. CCP has crossed the line, and seince they won't listen to thier playerbase, we're forced to make them feel it. I've already organized my corp in mass-shuttledropping.

How has your experience with the Incarna expansion been so far?
I actually kinda liked it until the whole leaked document stuff happened. Vanity MT dosent bother me, P2W does.

Have you read the two leaked documents? The "Fearless - Greed is Good" newsletter and proportedly internal email? Do you have any thoughts on their content?
The "Just for internal debate" excuse is bull****. I've written stuff like that before. It's meant to get your employees on board with your new direction, not to get them to debate it. Hilmar's e-mail is disgusting, it shows a profound arrogance and disregard for one of the most incredible and zealously loyal communities on the internet that makes me want to vomit. Hilmar's e-mail is what pushed me over the line.

Do you trust CCP and the direction that they'll be taking EVE in over the next few years?
Absolutely not. These events show CCP cares more about squeezing thier current customers for every possible penny instead of making a quality game.

Do you see yourself using the Noble Exchange in the future? What sort of things would you buy? What sort of things do you think should be available from the store?
Nope. I wolud not buy anything because I don't care about being a special snowflake with Vanity MT and I absouelty refuse to support korean P2W practices.

How long have you been playing Eve?
Around 4 years.

What is your favourite part of Eve? Are you a PVP Pilot? Into Industry or Mining? Or perhaps a mission runner
PVP all the way. I'm the CEO of a 270+ member pvp corp, and I love pvp. I'll ocasionally run some missions on the side or set up some reaction chains to make my corp money, but primarily pvp.

- 3 years
- Exploration and PVP with a bit of industry to change the pace ( stopped mission running because it got to repetitive and they never add new missions )
- Live in high sec, 60% of my explo is low sec as well as 95% of my pvp. I visit 0.0 anytime i get a lucky wormhole.

- It's unfortunate some people are being inconvenienced but it's truly for their own good imo. If you really read up on what's been happening these are game breaking issues. This really has the potential to be Hello Kitty with spaceships if it's not stopped. And CCP's disgusting attitude toward the player base, in particular people who've been with them for years speaks very poorly of them atm.
- I see incarna as 2 parts. The Maller, turret effects, and some of the other stuff is basically a patch. As to the actual Incarna expansion with CQ and the Nex shop I'm appalled. I just can't believe they'd release it with so little content. 10 total items is beyond pathetic. The 'coming soon' items you can see in the market are just as bad. I tried to play with it for about 10 min but it lagged me out and with so little content i didn't see a purpose to it. I'm one of the people who disabled it within the first few minutes and probably wont be turning it back on for a long time.
- based on the leaked doc's, outright lies told to the player base and told to the faces of CSM members I can't say I have much faith in a single thing they say atm. There is a pattern to their behavior and an emerging history of half truth's and outright lies. It will be very hard for them to repair what they've broken.

- I'll admit that i was never enthusiastic about CQ or walking in stations in general but I tried to have an open mind about it. I was hoping that the items would be fun and perhaps even funny. The idea of -10 pirate wearing a Santa Clause hat or sombrero seemed fun. After loging in and seeing what was available I have to say i was shocked. First by the lack of selection and then as with most other rational people by the insulting nay even disgusting prices being charged. As CEO I have enacted a recruitment and membership ban on all incarna items unless acquired as pvp trophies and I don't see myself retracting that any time soon if ever.
