It's that simple... you failed reality.

Once again, it seems to be you who fails reality if you think spending 1.5bn ISK is the same as spending real life dollars.

Everything you spend ISK on can be taken away with the pull of a plug, the monocle is no different. However the monocle is a symobl of superiority, it states "unlike you, I can spend vast sums on high class accessories". This makes me the better eve player.

You cannot afford it, which is fine, not everyone can be an elite player like me.

Au contraire. I am a seasoned veteran and the monocle merely cements my position as being truly elite. If you think I am trolling, you are wrong. I support the monocle because it gives truly elite players (like me) the opportunity to showcase our vast fortunes.
At first glance this is a useless troll thread but I've flown with Hobos so I gave it a read any way. In the end Butter Dog is trolling, yes, but not the players with or without vanity items. He's trolling the vanity idea itself and doing a very fine job of it. It is just a shame that people sometimes fail to see that the "jester" is not always the fool.

Imnsho well played Butter.

PS: And he's right, for some of us it is just isk. Easily gained, easily spent. If your monocle defines you as better Butter (life or eve) than I agree with your self determination (delusion). Keep on keeping on.

Narcissism is a personality disorder in which the person falls in love with himself. The narcissist has got an inflated sense of self worth, he thinks that he is better than most people, that he is a superior person and that he is invulnerable. If one of your friends is a narcissist you can easily identify him by his continues talk about his marvelous achievements, his outstanding intelligence or his breath taking monocle.

or he could just be a tosser. Personality disorder is my bet though.

One could also argue that having billions in ISK and not walking around with a monocle states "unlike you, I can spend vast sums on high class accessories but am smart enough not to".

Monocles don't accurately reflect wealth. They provide an inverse indication to the intelligence of those with wealth.

As an aside, one of the more entertaining troll threads in some time. Well done. Very Happy

You do not have the monocle, so obviously are not wealthy, so maybe you just don't get it - I will explain it to you:

If you are a truly elite player like me, and you have so much ISK that buying a monocle is like affording one round of Barrage M for the average player, then what do you do? Of course you buy the monocle.

This is simple logic. I don't expect you to understand this, because like most people in eve you are average and poor. That is nothing to be ashamed of, but your opinion does matter less than elite players like me, who have wealth.

I'm guessing you purchased the monocle for the same reason everybody else did. You didn't want CCP spooge leaking out of your eye socket so you bought an eyeplug.

You're like a 26th century "peg boy".

I think you missed the point dude.

It looks silly. I wouldn't even buy it for 1 AUR tbh Rolling Eyes
But if bragging about something that looks silly makes you feel good, well, whatever floats your boat.
Guess that's how pop stars in the 80s must have felt about their marvellous, expensive fashion Laughing

Other stuff in the store looks better, but I don't see the point in buying an accessory that makes you look like a freak for 4 times the price of other items.

I heard Chuck Norris has one monocle - which means John Turbefield has two monocles 'cause he's twice as good as Chuck Norris, but John Turbefield would never buy monocles!

It's simple - I am better than you at life and eve.

Now please, resume your weeping and impotent rage, because you're poor and can't join the club. Jealous much? Laughing

PS - don't forget to quit before your eyes well up with bitter tears and you can't see what you're doing, which may cause you to accidentally re-sub, a common error with raging forum nerds Embarassed

Aside from Butter's excellent troll on vanity and the eve forums (1.5 bill in ISK well spent IMHO) I think this is a case where the NEX store is doing its job. Removing ISK from players with high liquid amounts of ISK and driving the price of PLEX up which... makes people buy more.

If they don't introduce stuff beyond vanity items it might be a good thing...

Welcome to the exclusive club of the monocled elite.

Those who hate are merely jealous. If they were wealthy, as we are, they would own a monocle - but they don't. They claim this is because it is pointless or ugly, but the real reason is simply this: they cannot truly afford it.

I pity these people. They delude themselves into thinking they do not want one, simply because they cannot afford one. They will never be truly elite like us.
