Hi all,

I’m CCP Thrustmaster. I am a member of the team that has so far brought you Primae, Noctis, Punisher, Maller, Scorpion, Sansha mothership and a few more. We are in the process of doing something called “V3 shader project” of our current catalogue of ships. This involves a lot of work for our artists. While this project does not involve new ship geometry, it does mean that older ships will look more up to date than they are now in game. Ship shaders look better, and we are adding thruster glow to each ship's thrusters.

We have a huge backlog of ships and other space assets that are due for facelifts and makeovers. In this first iteration we are tackling the technical part of the work for the entire EVE fleet and later this year will start working on what is the actual visual improvements. We are all the more motivated by the player enthusiasm for things that look good while they go Pew-Pew. We will have a dev blog in the near future explaining this in much more detail.

Hello CCP Thrustmaster. Let me start by saying how much I love the work your team has done, particularly on improving texture qualities and remodelling.

However, I have a personal request: Please, PLEASE don't change the shape of the Apocalypse too much. It's my baby, it looks elegant and sleek and awe-inspiring. A real battleship. Please don't remodel it, just retexture it! Crying or Very sad

While we're at it, please, please remove those spikes on the front of the Machariel and make it darker!

The spikes look very out of place when looking at the rest of the ship, and the Mach is a lot brighter than both the Dramiel and Cynabal, which should not be the case.

Glad to hear this. Good work on the turrets btw, they look awesome.

They do just not on the HUD, personally I can barely see them on my current target in a lot of situations =\

Yeah in profile its great but in cross section - its a bit pencil thin, could be a smidge wider across the beam. I design yachts for a living, and yes, Im on a horse.

I can't wait for the Dominix to get a redesign. It would be awesome if it had 100% more potato qualities integrated into it.

I'm very happy to meet you, CCP Thrustmaster!

While I am overjoyed to hear this, there are a lot of ship models that need subtle changes to geometry since the release of the new turret models. Dramiel, Malediction, hell, even the Rifter hulls have problems with the new turrets and their respective hard points. I'm extremely happy that everything is getting an update, but please, PLEASE take a little extra time and polish the geometry a little so that everything fits together. Right now it looks like the new turrets, as beautiful as they are, are super-glued to the hulls in odd places where they don't actually fit, physically, on the geometry. It looks bad on a lot of ships.

If this is what you meant by what you're doing later this year, then great. It'd be nice to know for sure tough, if that's your meaning.

EDIT: Also.. CCP Thrustmaster, you need a Twitter! C'mon! Get an account and keep us apprised. :)

Indeed.

How about tossing all the 3d lattice on minmatar ships. I know it was intended to make them look rusty and such, but with the polish on the noctis etc, they just look like overheated nvidia graphics anomolies. I cant stand getting into a stabber or rifter because its a distraction. As an artist myself i empathize with the effort and appreciate the team, but appreciate the communication and responsive dev equally. +1 on twitter updates in #TWEETFLEET.

You guys have done excellent work on the recent crop of ships.

Out of curiosity, and entirely on your own opinion, are there any ships you'd like to take a crack at to remodel? Are you excited about a new Domi? Or would you prefer to make a new Minmatar model?

I know that I'm just parroting, but the art team has done some truly spectacular work with recent ships. I was very impressed with the new Maller hull, specially with the Sacrilege color scheme. That's a nice looking ship. Please take your time to make the rest of the ships as visually awesome as possible.

I'm very much looking forward to any previews you can share with us in the future.

I would love to see a new model for the Domi, as a Gallente pilot I've had to avoid that ship for awhile just because I can't stand the giant bulbous thing that that ship is.

Really though, fantastic work, can't wait to see what comes out of you guys next :D

One question though;

Are ORE ships getting the already introduced looks as the Rorqual, Noctis (T2 colorscheme) and Primea (T1 color scheme)?
As in will the Miningbarges and Exhumers get the same look as those 3 above?
If so, Will the Orca get a revamp to or not? (Because it ORE/DCM it could maybe have a mix of Ore and if i am correct Caldari look.)

Also small question about the Salvagers/Tractorbeams.

Maybe an good idea to make them scale with your ship? A tractorbeam/salvager on a Noctis looks like a tiny dot.)

Also: How about ORE getting some competition from DCM wich releases his own variations of the Exhumers/Miningbarges. (Same stats though just to make it versatile in space.) ORE is originaly Gallente and DCM is Caldari; makes sense? :P

Haha yea my tractor beam on my Orca is so tiny, but i like that, it gives the ship scale into perspective.

One thing i would like to add, on some ships in EVE currently i notice that you can see a bump running down the middle of the ship from its bump map.

I know you can solve this by using the blur tool in photoshop around the edges of the bump map texture, then you can't see where the edge of the texture is on the ships :3

Amazing art work that stands out in a game known for eye candy in that list.

Yea, the new turrets are pretty cool, good job, but you seem to have missed a couple

The shiny new Capital Tractor Beam turret, yet the rorqual doesnt seem to have any turret hard points.....

(Same goes for the standard ones on the orca as well)
