A relatively new game on the market got it right concerning blob mobbing... CCP should take a close look (if it survives the Post Incarna wrath).

When in proximity to each other (eg. on the same grid) vehicle sensors interfere with each other!

Interference is common phenomena on Nia that you should be always aware of. Robots in Perpetuum use waves to gain information about the surroundings, and such waves can interfere with each other.

The most common occurrence of interference is when several robots are nearby each other. Interference will affect these robots' sensoring capabilities:

slower target locking
shorter locking range
dropping of sensor strength
dropping of signal detection



This is the only truly effective way to limit the current laughable blob gank mechanics we see in Eve.

Interesting ideas.

The missiles used to be a bit of anti-blob since they'd kill your friends if they were in the way. Doing that to all weapon types would be another way of making blob warfare more difficult.

Wouldn't people just bring blobs to places where they don't want others to be able to fight effectively? Sometimes it isn't necessary to kill your enemy, but merely to prevent them from taking actions to accomplish their goals - actions such as those that this system would impair.
