Edited by: S''qarpium D''igil on 25/06/2011 02:07:34Did the CSM know anything about the forced "Pod decanting" that came with Incarna, and did you try to dissuade CCP from this? This is pretty immersion and lore breaking, not to mention it's annoying to have the CQ forced on us like this. I like the CQ, but I want to old hangar too... |

Edited by: Chimaera Abaddon on 25/06/2011 02:09:09 I keep wondering about the reasoning for not answering the question (the primary one about P2W). I can understand the potential reason of being restricted by the job/orders from above... But, why not just say that? Why couldn't someone just say, "I'm sorry I can't answer that, but, so-and-so will answer that within this many days." That acknowledges the problem, the players/their concerns and gives people patience as well as a deadline/direction for the Devs to aim for. Silence and dismissal is what's breeding these threadnaroks, right? It just seems amateurish not to do that, or shows a severe lack of trust/respect for the players.
(And just as an aside on communication in general, I started playing in 2005, quit about 3 years ago because of these exact same problems and responses/results to similar events back then. I've been back less than 3 months, I only came back because I was told things were better... And I've felt compelled to suspend my subscriptions after events today because it's damned Deja Vu. It feels like the company has not developed/grown in this important area, at all. That it's more comfortable for the company to lie, hide and deal with fallout, than it is to really engage their players.) |

CCP Zulu's devblog essentially answered nothing the players wanted answered. Noble Exchange price is very low on the list of things we have problems with right now. EvE is a sandbox, it's not a p2p Japanese craptastic game that only lasts 6 months. It was made clear to the players of EvE by the devs not too long ago that real money for in-game advantage/progression was NEVER going to happen. This internal document coupled with the fact that NO ONE at CCP has answered this question directly is THE MAIN issue that they have to answer. As far as I'm concerned as well as others I'd wager, this is going to be a make or break issue. It changes EvE drastically to the point of it losing its harsh feel that we've come to love. We will view a no answer as a "yes aurum for in-game progression/advantage." 2) FAR MAJORITY wants the old hanger view back. Sure, CQ can be there too, no big deal. But why force it on a player base that overwhelmingly does not care for it? Really, gameplay wise, it's a joke. I'm just baffled that they essentially are phasing out the old view and are even going to take away the option to disable the CQ! THERE IS NO GOOD REASON to do this. There is a simple solution: Give us the old hanger view and put the CQ button on the station services interface - then we can "disembark" our ships and THEN enter/load CQ. This is *SO EASY* to do and will make SO MANY people happy. Why force a barbi doll house on us? Seriously, how hard can it be to do this: Originally by: Aganola Make Everyone Happy

Clearly, roasting individual devs is not going to do anything and is somewhat childish. It's probably that CCP Zulu and Pann can not give us answers because they were told not to. FAIR ENOUGH -- HOWEVER, GIVE US THE DEVELOPERS AND MAKE THEM ANSWER US DIRECTLY! |

To the cast,
The main issue for me is the lack of trust. Trust between players and the developers, and trust between the developers themselves. As a player I have to trust CCP to have the best interests of the game at heart. I have been here for years and seen a bunch of "scandals" as they have taken place, but this one is more of a Category 5 instead of a Tropical Storm.
The last Category 5 was the t20 blueprint scandal, in which the trust between the players and the developers was severely strained. Then, just as now, the crux of the problem was that developers were seen as having their personal interests as more important than the interests of the game in general. Then, they were giving themselves an unfair in-game advantage to print money with t2 ships (t2 Cartels were as bad as Technetium moon are today). Now, they want to give an in-game advantage for real-life money. If anything, the current situation has the potential to be worse.
The devs need to understand that underlying every single expansion, add-on, and new ship model is the belief that CCP is acting in the best interests of the community at large. If that trust is violated, how can I continue to play and enjoy the game if ultimately I know I can't trust the game itself?
Last time people felt their trust was violated, they started a war involving 100,000 players that lasted for 2-3 years. |

Question I'd like the panel to explore:
What is CCP's financial state? Do they need the Noble Exchange? Is a PLEX sink necessary? Why don't they just raise the subscription fee if they need/want more revenue?
Also, has there been anything like the current riots and threadnoughts that are occurring right now? Is CCP likely to alter course because of this?
Phenomenal job so far peepz, thanks |

WHY in that PDF was the viewpoint of RMT for in game advantage even represented????
They PROMISED that they would never do that so why is it in their internal documents??
They need to realize that they can't fool us so easy.. They need to show us some respect!
That's easy to answer. They lied. |

We can uncheck it now. And we can ignore the monocles. We can't ignore MT if it becomes pay to win, and I personally would like to do Incarna only when I want it - now, forever. |

I want back what has been taken away: QUOTE: In removing the hangar view, the following functionality has been altered or flushed: •The ability to activate ships through drag-and-drop. •The ability to always identify the active ship at a glance. •The ability to always instantly access ship cargo holds through double-click. •The ability to always instantly access ship drone bays and specialty-holds (ore, corp hangars, fuel bays) through right-click menus. •…and, of course, everyone's favourite: ship spinning. |

CCP decided a while ago that they were going after a different and large audience. They know the current player base will largely not be happy about it and know that many if not most of them will leave eventually over it. They know we will not be happy about the decisions that have already been made and committed to.
They are stuck in a tight spot because they did not want this out now and need our money for a few more months until the new player base picks up and they can abandon us totally. |

Sorry I don't think there is backtracking here, there is simply too much CCP put on the line. I'd love it if they promised with sugar on top to not do anything other than vanity items while not creating a club for the super rich isk and cash tossing people to stand out while everyone else looks like a bunch of second class citizens for not jumping on the vanity train.
Dust will introduce mt and pay to play items, how exactly we don't know but suffice it to say it will affect EVE, Pi/sovereignty. The markets are to be linked how are they going to keep dusties from screwing up the market if they are magicking in guns/ships/ammo/etc with cash? That carries over to Eve either we will supply them through industry ourselves, they do it themselves, or they pay to circumvent it and their own industry with cash.
CCP is using EVE to beta test WOD part of that testing is micro transactions or macro transactions. Backtracking on that seems impossible, even promising to not do items from cash can't be made as WOD will problably have that and if not they'd like to consider it. What better way to test that crap than with EVE, they might wait for dust but dust's items will primarily be functional not vanity that is the engine incarna uses and the incarna items are easily transferable to WOd.
You talk about a compromise but I don't see one that doesn't leave us taking their word and ignoring all that we've seen, and heard. The writing is on the wall if it is wrong there needs to be some real action to change the perception and the direction EVE has been taking. At this point for me scrapping Aurum is the starting point, what's the compromise, to that I don't know they say Aurum is here to stay, mt are here to stay, seems we have nothing to talk about. |
